These were listed at $1299 at UMart a week or so ago, no stock though. But the price has now increased to $1399, still no stock. Think I'll wait 6 months. Good find though.
If you're spending over a grand on a CPU the question is whether to go whole hog for a threadripper…
Zen 3 Threadripper isn't out yet, and there's no guarantee they'd work with current boards. So it's not an outright better choice.
The Threadrippers at this price range are awful compared to this.

Yup, if it were US MSRP + GST + logistics, we wouldn't be paying over $1150.
$1150 seems reasonable now that my brain has been bombarded with insanely over priced components for the last few months. One year ago I would have thought over 1k on a cpu, no way Jose.
Given the performance level offered, it's a reasonable launch price, but yeah unfortunately it's 2 and a bit months on and there's no stock to be found.
