  • Does this support PoE?

    • Nah sadly not. Could use a PoE splitter but you may as well just power it normally.

      • No, hold up, I think PoE splitter is exactly what I would need for this. I just chuck the splitter into the camera and then run an ethernet cable from the camera to my switch. This means I won't need a powerpoint near the camera, right?

        • Yeah I was thinking that you would have the PoE splitter close to the camera when you just have to run a long cable and have the splitter near a power source :/ Silly me.

Well would you look at that a $5 deal at Amazon. Back order though.

          • @Clear: Missed out. Serves me right for going for a walk :(

Looks like you'd need a 12v regulated splitter like:
        https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005002059370149.html

        • Pretty much the same as what Jaycar has.

          • @Clear: Yep, that looks like them, or very similar, but Jaycar sell one for the same price as 3 from AliExpress… I have some of the Ali ones powering routers, APs, and such from a smart managed switch, my switch senses them and powers them up, straight non-smart splitters without a regulator and such it wont power up, it doesn't sense them…

(I have seen other cheaper looking versions slightly cheaper, but I know these Ali ones work well for me)

        • Thanks for the link, purchased some.

What PoE switch to you use? Can I simply connect the switch to my RT-AC68 and it will function fine? The router doesn't explicitally need to support PoE right?

  • Are these 2.8mm or 3.6mm, I cant see it anywhere in the listing…

It appears they may be rebranded Dahua?

    Pity they're only 1080p :(

    • On the site it says 2.8mm or 3.6mm Fixed Lens, so maybe you can switch it.

      • The ebay listing doesn't specify though, so it would be a gamble..

It appears they may be rebranded Dahua?

Same company. Imou are the consumer line of Dahua.

      • That makes sense TY, the glass front, lens, appear to be Dahua-ish…

Got it based on the popularity of the other deal I missed on. Now to figure out how to install it…

NSA embedded backdoors into Cisco gear that's used as the backbone for a lot of ISPs, as well as most corporations. Then you have Optus who uses Huawei equipment as their backbone infrastructure despite the government's 5G ban, then you have Xiaomi also banned etc etc

Yeah who knew that devices that connect to the internet could be compromised to have a back door?

  • What is the exact model number of this device?
    Are these older model?

I see on reviews, there is model with 2 antennas

    Are there any 4k cameras
    and is it worth getting?

  • If you missed out you can get this Dahua one with POE for $45.99 from MWave:

    Deal is back on.

  • So for IMOU cameras, is the only way to change settings such as assigning a static IP address and NTP server via the app? There's no Web GUI for Imou correct?
