showing out of stock when I put it in my cart

    • Cannot add the 5900x to my cart as it says Out of Stock, and the 5950x just errors.

    • it seems they were all gone within 30min.

    • Getting a 10900 means giving money to Intel.

      • +19

Show me on the doll where Intel touched you.

        • +2

          HAHAHAHAHAHAH

        • +1

          Everywhere

    • +2

userbenchmark is heavily skewed towards Intel and actively tries to reduce AMD scores.

      • +5

That's fine and all if true but every review ever concludes they have very similar performance so the AMD shouldn't be 40% more to buy. It's not exactly good value at the current market prices.

        • +3

          He is right about userbenchmark.

Getting the latest and greatest is never good value. Tables have juat turned between Intel and AMD. Just wait for the next latest and greatest thing and these will drop in price.

    • is it really almost twice the performance as per benchmark?

  • Errors out when adding into cart

so glad i gave up chasing amd cpus that dont exist, 10900k for $629 cheaper and better

    • +8

Smart move. Not a fan of Intel but AMD at these prices is just the new Intel.

      • +4

Yep. AMD profits per unit up but their market penetration tapering off. They want to be careful with that… If Intel comes out swinging with Rocket Lake decent supply and price point, it could win significant market share back.

AMD's CPU advances mean little if: 1) You can't obtain them, 2) They are too expensive for their target market, 3) People are not CPU bound and still running apps that where Intel typically performs.

        • +5

And I hope they do, AMD just got too much head swell they need to be cooled down a bit.

You could grab a Z490 and 10900K for the price of a single AMD CPU, getting ridiculous.

          • +1

@craving: They really chose a bad time to try and capitalise on the consumer too; an uncertain time for both home and business consumers when inflation is meant to be next to nil.

What their target market really wanted was a maturing of the Zen platform, a "5600/5700x" combo with modest price increases over the previous gen. Instead they release exorbitantly priced CPUs you can't even obtain and need a fridge to cool.

      Cheaper but definitely not better.
Less single core and multi core performance with a lot higher power consumption.
Nothing about the 10900k is better except the price

      • Not from the research i done, this performs better on paper for my needs.

      • at 250 Watts make sure you upgrade your air conditioner too.

        • I've seen you say this before. The Intel is 125w and the AMD is 105w. The review linked above estimates the yearly difference in power consumption cost to be $3. After 100 years of use you'll break even on money saved if you bought the AMD over the Intel now there is a $300 difference in price. I would not make your purchasing decision based on power consumption.

          • +1

@Cutsick: That is TDP based on base clocks not boost and not real power consumption.
            10900k uses ~250watts v 5900x ~180watts.
            More if overclocked

            • +2

@Casomme: I have a 10900KA with a 1080ti and every LED known to man on every part of the system. My ASUS Thor PSU with real-time power consumption display hovers between total system consumption of 125w to 135w when I'm doing anything other than playing games due to Intels excellent load based CPU throttling. The real-world difference in power consumption cost is almost non-existant unless you're running your PC at 100% CPU load 24/7 and even then it would take a century to make $300 in difference i.e the difference in cost between the 2 CPU's right now.

              • @Cutsick: I didn't say it wasn't better value. I was just correcting your misinformation

                • @Casomme: No worries, I wouldn't call it misinformation though, I just quoted TDP. My point is still accurate, power consumption should not even come into consideration due to minute real-world cost of power difference.

                  • @Cutsick: It comes into consideration with regards to power supply and thermals not so much cost per watt

                  • @Cutsick: excess power, means excess heat and noise.
Intel started to really fake the TDP with the intel 9900k rated at 95watts, when it really ran at 150w or 200 overclocked. They've been dong the same ever since to fake the efficiency of their cpu's.

    • Exactly. Intel is already up to 10nth gen, AMD still on 5th gen. Intel ftw is a no brainer.

  • Thanks, got my 5950x just now.

    • How!?

    No bargain here.

it wasn't out of stock at the time it was posted.

        Thanks, but don't need it.
My sub RRP Ryzen wasn't too hard to find.

that's nice, but do you neg every deal that you don't need?

How long ago was your sub RRP ryzen purchased?
