    $300 sounds like a lot of food…

    • Just buy a few trolleys of toilet paper, cleaning items etc…

    • -4

The average trolley per week is $350 to $550. Grandma spends $700.

    • If you buy a big ham, plus a turkey, seafood etc it can add up for a big family christmas. That said I don't think I'd hit 300 in one go.

$300?? that is alot of money for groceries

    I spend maybe $100-$150 a week max

Meanwhile all the staff get 10% off which is better than this deal.

    Bit unfair.

    • +1

I hardly see how that's unfair? It's a perk (albeit a very small perk) of working for Coles Myer.

  • It's xmas so alot of people will be spending alot more money than usual esp if they are holding the xmas party. But when you try to make up money to get a discount you need to think of things you really need like robinsoa says, things like toilet paper are a good things to buy since you can just store then and then you won't have to buy for a while but if you go and buy things you dont need like chocolates and crap then there is no point. Also go online and enter the $5 off if you do the tell them about their stores section and add that to your $20

Not bad if used in conjunction with 5% off gift-cards.

    • Don't keep us in suspense. What are you talking about?

      • think that's for staff only or sth

        • +1

there are various sources for 5% off gift cards. Entertainment books being one of them.

Personally i get them through the social club at work.

    • +1

A lot of memberships (e.g. your local RSL, University shop) will sell you WISH cards at 5% less than the card's value. It's not just a Woolworths staff discount, but I think you could use it in conjunction with the staff discount.

One of the places who used to sell them would even let me use a credit-card with no surcharge, so I was racking up award points on top of the 5% discount. You can use them at Caltex co-branded outlets as well, so on-top of the current 8c/l fuel discount you get another 5% off.

  • I found this in the daily telegraph in sydney too. If anyone needs it I can upload it but I'm pretty sure it works as a one time use voucher. The terms and conditions state: Coupon valid only at Coles from 22/12/11 to 24/12/11. Qualifying spend (after savings and discounts) must be spent in one transaction and coupon surrended at time of purchase. This offer excludes Coles group gift cards and tobacco related product purchases. Offer not valid at Coles Express, Coles Central and Coles Online. Only one coupon can be used per transaction.

  • I'm sure the work experiance kid in marketing at Woolies will do what they did last time and match the offer. Maybe they should come up with a New Years Resolution to come up with their own promotions.

  • yea…woolworths is doing the same thing they did last time..

We're accepting Coles newspaper coupons from this week’s newspapers when you shop with us this Thursday 22nd December - Saturday 24th December.

  • Woolies havn't come up with their own idea for yrs.

  • I used the coupon from the West Australian today to get $20 off my $360 shopping bill. My Coles store (Baldivis, WA) advised they are only accepting original coupons (no photocopies or printouts).

Or you could save $50 by shopping at Aldi :)

  • No aldi stores in w.a, Plus most coles brand products are nearly on par with aldi anyway from the choice report a few months back. It's about smart shopping as i said above, think of stocking up major on good specials.
