  • Are these good for the 5900x?

    • +5

3600 @ 16 would be better, but for this price this isn’t bad at all.

      • -3

        Yeah?

  • Ahh dang. I had held out for weeks for a decent RAM deal. Ended up getting same spec’d Patriot from Amazon for ~$170.

Can I use it for Intel?

    • These work with intel system but you might not be able to get the full 3200Mhz on some chipsets

    • +1

using XMP, you can get 2933MHz on B460 chips, and full 3200MHz on better chips

  • +1

Bizarre that the flarex at 3200 not rated at c14

    • +2

      Because this is not B-die.

    Is this a good price?

    • +2

Next best price on pcpartpicker for this capacity and speed is $180, and it's the lowest this particular set has ever been. Seems like a good deal.

    • Yes, I purchased this at $200 just 30 days ago.

  • Anyone know tall this ram is?

    • +2

I'm surprised how hard this to find. From what I could find it's 40mm.

  • I'm buying a PC off techfast, they have an option to upgrade ram from 16gb to 32gb 3200mhz for $99. Should I just do the techfast upgrade or should I get the 16gb (2*8sticks free) and but this to swap them out?.

    • Depends. Are you going to be using your PC for anything that requires more than 16gb? Also what kit is techfast upgrading you to, is it comparable or better than this kit?

      • I'm not sure what kit techfast uses tbh.

      • I emailed them, they used most likely going to be Data XPG? Is that better?

        • You'll be getting the bottom of the barrel with techfast eg biostar, data xpg… unbranded chinese crap pretty much.

        • I wasn't really enquiring about the brand: all ram use chips from the same suppliers, either samsung hynix or micron, so it doesnt really matter what brand it is. What yiu need to look at is the sub timings as it can sometimes indicate what die the ram is.

    • +2

Buy this asap and sell the Techfast 16gb for $50-$60.

From experience Techfast give you inferior "Allied" branded ram. Best to remove immediately if possible.

  • damnn I bought Tident Z Neo 16gb for $159 a month ago, kinda wish I saw this.
    same CL and speed

  • No Samsung B Die = No Buy.

    • English please

      • -2

He's saying "No Samsung B Die equals No Buy".

        • Thanks Sherlock. Haha I meant in words a lay person can understand.

          • @mrtee: He's saying he only wants to buy B Die and not E Die. Bcos E don't OC like B.

          • +3

@mrtee: Samsung B-die is a type of memory chip that's generally regarded as the best for overclocking for low latency and high frequency. Ever since AMD Ryzen debuted, people have sought B-die even more since Ryzen in particular benefits from fast RAM. Both platforms benefit from it, but the effect on performance is more dramatic with Ryzen.

  • Don't have a PC but should I buy now and ask questions later?

    • +1

That's why we're all here… hording for the apocalypse.

    • This is a great deal for people who want a decent cost/performance ram right now as they have already purchased a couple of their parts.

Personally wouldn't call it amazing enough to make me start on a build from scratch, and I would wait for cashback offers to stack, but everyone has their budget and preferences.
