[VIC] Rod Laver & Margaret Court Arena after 3pm Tickets $30 @ Ticketmaster

130

Pretty good price to watch the tennis stars! Of course that all depends on whether or not VIC goes back into lockdown :(

Seems to be dates from the 12th of Feb to the 17th of Feb today (due to lockdown) however it appears as though you can only buy tickets on the day.

Eg you can buy tickets for todays matches already but not for the other days. Im guessing you'll be able to buy tickets for tomorrows 'after 3pm matches' tomorrow.

  • How can we check who is playing what days?

    • +2

Schedules come out the night before. Today's schedule

      Today's last day match are

      • RLA: A. Mannarino (32) vs. A. Zverev
      • MCA: G. Dimitrov (18) vs.P. Carreno Busta (15)

Good matches! MCA tickets will get you access to all outdoor courts so you'll be able to catch lots of other games. RLA won't get you access to these courts.

Went on Tuesday, no crowds, easy to get around, no queue for beer/food/toilets.

  • You can only see today and tomorrow. If you google "Australian Open" the schedual will show and you can click on what events you want to see (mens singles, womens doubles, etc) and it shows times and what court they're on.

You can only see today and tomorrow.

just a few cases and they stop the life.

Last March started with 'a few cases'

      It stopped 820 lives.

      • -1

750 of them were over 95 year olds who already wanted to die every single day.

This is insanely irresponsible. We are verging on another corona crisis in Melbourne and Tennis Australia are trying to get as many people to go to the tennis (potential super spreader event) as possible…

    • +5

The government announcement (whatever that will be) will override anything Tennis Australia want.

      • +5

        only after midnight…

its buy one get covid free deal - can't understand why anyone would think getting something for free isn't a deal…

Its not in that period .

        Thanks. What a remarkable coincidence…!

My understanding is the Aus Open tennis continues; just no crowds.
It becomes a workplace, with the minimum workers allowed to attend.

          • +1

@GG57: Aye. I imagine Vic gov and TA have everything crossed they'll have crowds back for finals though.

I imagine Vic gov and TA have everything crossed

When did tightarse enter politics ? and was a referral code part of the deal ?

            • @whatboutbob: Probably, but seeing Andrews today, he doesn't appear to be taking too many risks.

          • +2

@GG57: tennis players are declared essential workers.

time for a career change I guess

            • @shabaka: The Premier has explained that they are not essential workers, but they cannot do their work (at this entertainment event) from 'home' so are allowed to visit their 'workplace'. Same as the newsreader on Ch7 or whatever.
Same as the person stocking shelves at Coles.
Same as AFLW players (and other professional sporting events).

              • +1

@GG57: Oh well, hopefully this sets a precedent for the AFL season :D :D :D

                • -1

@Danstar: I'm not sure why I need to be the one passing on the press conference content (which is still going, answering stupid questions), but it was explained it could be different if the lockdown was longer than 5 days.

                  • +2

@GG57: In dans mind, a lockdown is a lockdown. Regardless of how long it is.

He picks and chooses what he think needs to stay open or needs to close.

              • @GG57:

but they cannot do their work (at this entertainment event) from 'home'

Do any of the hotels have tennis courts?

How many tennis players stayed at the 'Holiday Inn?'

                • @jv: Ask someone from Tennis Australia, or the state government.

              • @GG57: their job is playing tennis, not entertaining, so they could work from hotel tennis court

      • +1

I just read quarterfinals will be closed to the public.

  • guaranteed lockdown's free with every world sporting event in Australia - anyone claiming federal politicians have brains please leave the country, because you're killing it.

    • +1

Pete Evans is running for the Senate - does that count 😉

    • Compared to recent politicians in many other parts of the world, ours might not be the best, but they are not too bad.

    • To be fair it doesn't sound like the source of this outbreak was Oz Open-related and, if anything, I suspect the ongoing tennis gave the state gov pause in locking down again.

    • guaranteed lockdown's free with every world sporting event in Australia

This breakout didn't occur from the Tennis entourage…

The Tennis is still going. How good is that?

    • public can go tonight, but no more until after the quarter finals.

Stay home and watch it on TV in your jocks.

        Get on the Beers too.

        I have…

  • Djokovic is not getting much love tonight

also who's waving the "Oz On Beers" banner? gotta be an ozbargain member sure lol

    • I didn’t see that, but that sounds like it’s in reference to dan Andrews saying get on the beers and a Australian dj making a song out of it
