    Whew, good price

Really holding out for the black one though… so tempted

I am waiting for this one - https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/584292

I remember this one, there were so many available on the day as well.
I almost bought it and realise it wasn't big enough.

      • You can get it currently from Big W eBay for $250 Using Afterpay 10% / 12% discount code and pay by using 5% off eBay gift cards from ShopBacks gift card portal

    • Holding out for the black version too… the deals on that model all dried up for some reason!

    • I'm the opposite. I'm holding out until Philips releases a digital version of the white!

    This or the Kmart 3-in-1?

  • Had this a year - modestly easy to clean - far better than the cheap throwaways ( we had an aldi and some other no name )

Take a picture of the timing marks around the dial because they are very poorly applied and disappear quickly after cleaning

We mostly use this for hot chips and remember where 12 minutes is on the dial. :)

    • Your memory must have improved a lot in the past year.

    • +2

Philips warranty is really good, if the timing marks are disappearing i'd contact them likely they'll send you another one

      • Perhaps rub some clear nail polish when you buy the product.

      • Costco is also excellent with returns

  • This one looks interesting, reviews pretty good, Sunbeam 4 in 1 Air Fryer + Oven - AFP5000BK $238

    • +2

Bear in mind that the "mini-oven" type of air fryer doesn't have a removable cooking basket. The Philips has a removable basket, making much easier to clean. The internal walls (non-removable) of the Sunbeam would soon become blackened with burnt-on fat etc.

      • good point, reviews dont seem to have a issue yet, but something to definitely consider

    • I don't rate the oven style ones because you'll still need to shake/flip it
With a basket, you can shake it to evenly roast/fry stuff
For example, if you are cooking roast veggies, you would need to shake the basket every 5 minutes or so.

Another thing is, the oven style one fits less. the basket can fit more and you'll just need to shake it every few minutes.
With the oven you can't fit as much and will need to keep cooking in batches

That being said oven one probably works well in other applications, like a few pizza's or a batch of fried chicken

  • is it same price when you buy at Costco store?

    • I will check and update later

If anyone is wanting something a little more versatile, costco currently has the instant pot duo for a reasonable price. Not the cheapest ever, but close to it.

  • Has anyone tried making homemade (French) fries with an air fryer? Does it actually work?

    • yes it works. freezer to air fryer, and I much prefer air fryer version to macdonalds deep fried version simply because it's much less greasy.

    • Yes, just have to know how much to put in, when to flip the chips & how long to cook for

      • +1

You don't need to flip. Just shake it to loosen the chips so they're not stuck to one another and get a chance to cook all over. The air gets circulated quite well in the airfryer.

        • I'm still on my Kogan airfryer so I shake and flip, probably cost me $59 at the time and still going strong for 2ish years or so

  • Thanks OP, grabbed one

I bought this last year from Myers for $340 and very happy with it. For someone who is hopeless at cooking, I can make chicken like this in under 10 mins.

    • Why would you put foil at the bottom of the pan? You know it disrupts the airflow right? There's a reason why that swirly shape is the way it is…

      • yes but i hate cleaning up the grease afterwards. I just have to flip chicken or bacon or whatever i'm cooking half way through and it comes out good. I change the foil and barely any cleaning is required.

I bought one simply to do Pork Belly. I went from failure after failure in a regular oven, to perfect pork belly every time: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hUetDCO8CCA

  • Have had this model for about a year now myself, and use it all the time. No dramas with the timer marks on mine but on occasion the timer mechanism can be a bit inaccurate - it might still be showing 2-3 minutes on the dial, but has turned off thinking it's complete. That's about the only downside I've encountered thus far.

Oh and one final hot tip, don't allow the kids to use the optional rack to do grilled cheese on the top level… cheese getting "vortexed" up into the heating elements and causing a small bushfire's worth of smoke? Not ideal.

Recently bought the $89 one from Kmart https://www.kmart.com.au/product/5.3-litre-air-fryer/2745820 which I find does the job pretty well, which I find does the job pretty well for whole chicken, how does this one compare?

    • Love the rhetorical question or a thinly veiled ‘is this worth $171 more…?”

  • anyone own this > https://www.target.com.au/p/bellini-11l-air-fryer-bafo2/6254…
If so, please share review !!
This one they advertise as 3-in-1 > air fryer, oven and dehydrator

Does anyone know of Philips one being discussed here can do these things too ?? specifically dehydrator ?!

    TIA

  • Have bought 2 (one for myself and one for sis) and both are at 299 on Amazon special. This is good price. And the unit is absolutely worth the money. Very useful for cooking chicken, frozen pastries, steak and seafood.

  • I bought the Gourmia air fryer from Costco recently, only $73 all digital 5.7L capacity and I love it! No need to pay almost $200 more.
