Garmin 5" GPS $99 - The Good Guys

81

Saw this advertised in the newspaper. The model is the new Garmin nuvi 50. I don't recall ever seeing a branded 5" gps at this price.

Is this model covered? I don't see it in the drop down list on the linked page.

Seems only to mention "latest map guarantee"

Has anyone ever defined what "until this product's useful life expires" is in years?

        • Its not in years, its life of product….. i researched before buying a Garmin product about 6 months back. As long as product is functioning, its covered. 150%.

    Website is still showing $175.

Possible to scan the page? What town are you located in?

Shows for $175 web price at Bundall (Gold Coast) shop.

Can we have the scanned copy of the newspaper please

  • I'm in Sydney and bought it from my local GG store today. My cousin in brisbane bought one also. It was part of their boxing day deals so it must be a national offer.

I don't have access to a scanner, but I suggest maybe calling your local store.

  • Expired.

Just got back from GG (Bayswater VIC), we had seen this yesterday and wanted to have a look but it was $180. Salesman said it was a boxing day sale and price had been brought back up. Same with the LG 42LW5700 that was posted at $696 yesterday; it was also back up to ~$1100.

If you check the ad it does say in the fine print it's only on sale boxing day, but seems like a few of you guys had some luck anyway. Just thought I should let you guys know.

    • you saw this at $99 and didn't buy it on the boxing day sale?

      • Like I said, the ad only said boxing day in the fine print, and even that didn't make it clear it was exclusively yesterday. 'Sale on Monday the 26th' or something like that :/

some GG stores were not open yesterday (NSW) so their their "boxing day" sales are today

  • Dick Smith have the GarminAsus A50 back on sale at $179.

Their catalogue stated it had the Lifetime Map updates again.

    • Dead phone. I wouldn't buy it now. Not only does it run Froyo, the company behind it has given up on manufacturing phones so its very unlikely it will get any ROM updates. It also has very few accessories (cases, batteries are harder to find)

Get a Samsung ace for 199 instead, runs gingerbread and has free Navigon. The downside though is that it doesn't come with a free car kit like the A50 (which is a big bonus)

It was ticketed as a clearance model as well as the 2350 which was 148 i believe (this one compatible with the free maps offer) JB are doing 20% off all GPS until Friday 30th so there's some haggling fuel for good guys.

    • good pick up re: JB, but their 20% off price made the Nuvi 50 $151.

  • Harvey Norman have the Garmin Nuvi 30 for $78 and 30% off all other Garmin (until 31/12 i believe)

  • Garmin nuvi 50 available at $99 today at geelong, GG. Yesterday, I bought olympus epm1 at $490, better than nothing deal but did miss the bloody cheap LG 3d tv. Fine, some money in my pocket.
