Western Digital Blue SN550 1 TB M.2-2280 NVME Solid State Drive is arguably a similar (possibly slightly better) performer for $137.88 +Delivery (Free with Prime) @AmazonAu, if you want an alternative option.
This review shows a bit of a comparison between the two.

Good review - I believe the consensus is to get cheaper of A2000 and WD SN550 for everyday users since the performance of both is so close.

SN550 is DRAM-less and depends on NVMe HMB for better performance. A2000 has built-in DRAM cache.

So, if used in a Windows machine as on-board drive, SN550 would be better since WD (or really SanDisk) usually quality better than Kingston. If used on a Mac (just in case you’re still having one of those can replace SSDs) or Linux box, or in an external enclosure, it’s gonna be hard to take advantage of HMB. DRAM-less SSDs can perform pathetically bad on large writes in such situation.

      • So SN550 uses HMB. Most reviews did not test heavy random mixed I/O (50% read, 50% write). That's the test which shows the ugly side of SN550 (but is that a very common usage for most people?). SN550 does perform well in sustained write (large writes) though (since that test is more about TLC flash speed, though the controller does play a significant role there too). It beats A2000 in quite a few benchmark thanks to having a better controller. A2000 would be faster if a better controller got put in. In real life game loading, A2000 is actually faster.

        • yep. I bought my A2000 a year ago for $220 after several days of checking comparisons and reviews

I don't really trust this smart hmb tech so I discarded sn550 as an option almost straight away

no regrets, hasn't skipped a beat.

  • Same as normal price at Umart.

  • price has been like this for months, so sad its not going down.
