what's the diff. between this and the $147 Xbox version?

    • +6

      Labelling on the buttons?

      • yeah pretty much

        • Got the Xbox one for Xmas gift. It's just the button

    • Looks like the Xbox version has a dedicated Xbox button

      • Where? The front looks to have the same number of buttons to me

        • -1

But its not a xbox button.

    • +9

Xbox version was designed mainly for the players of Project xCloud game streaming. Having an identical key config as the Xbox controller will help some players.

Xbox version also comes with 2 weeks of Xbox Game Pass Ultimate.

Other than that, their functionalities are identical.

      • Last I checked, COD Mobile only allows use of genuine PS4, xbox and xbox elite controllers.

Just to confirm, xbox version Kishi does not register with COD Mobile as an Xbox controller, correct?

        • I think so. I don't know specific info about game compatibility.

        • One of the first reviews mentioned that it's not compatible with COD mobile and he needed to use button mapping software which was annoying.

          • @scud70: I really don't get it, why would they make something as nifty as this and then not do it in a standard way so that everything just works like xbox controller.
EDIT did a bit of research and ok didn't realise COD mobile decided to be difficult and not support normal dinput

            • @bender000: From what I've read some of it is on the app developers, for instance Diablo Immortal alpha didn't have controller support and the feedback Blizzard got was to incorporate that in the final version…. So guessing it's something the devs need to incorporate into their apps.

not to be a party pooper but there are reports of this thing bending a phone so buy at own risk

    • +1

Do you have the source for this to share?

      • +3

saw this on reddit. I can't proof or disproof the validity of anything on reddit because people there range from normal to insane.

        • +6

A link to support your claim would help those considering buying it.

          • -6

@aveeno bb: He just said he readit from reddit. There is no link.

            • +11

@Chchnu: Why is there no link on reddit post? Is reddit not on the internet?

              • -2

@aveeno bb: You asked for a link to support the claim. Then he answered you its from reddit and therefore not reliable.

So if he linked you a reddit link it adds credibility? I.e. a random on reddit claiming something is more reliable than a random on ozbargain making the same claim?

                • +5

@Chchnu: It will help potential buyers to read the post themselves and decide for themselves.

If a source article cannot be provided, then the comment is better deleted. Or he can just tell us he thinks he saw something but realised he didn't.

                  Happy?

                  • -2

@aveeno bb: See the person you asked agrees with me and i guess thats why he didnt send you a reddit link.

I would understand if it is sourced from a credible website, but this if was sourced from a reddit random.

Its like if you went to Coles and asked a random customer where is the cereal and they tell you that they asked earlier and the coles staff (credible website) told them its in isle 5, you then go and ask the staff yourself to confirm. This is fine.

But not what you are doing is the same but this random customer says i asked another random customer (reddit random) earlier and they said its in isle 5. Would you then ask this other random customer thinking they are more reliable than the original random customer?

                    • @Chchnu: Party over dude move on

                      • -3

@aveeno bb: You not getting your link though.

                        • +1

                          @Chchnu: Still waiting smart ars.

If there are no links, report of the phone bending is of course just bs.

                • @Chchnu: It's also none of your business for me to ask if he can provide the source so I read about it, which he didn't. What's your problem, I don't know.

                • -3

@Chchnu: You are on point sir. Have an upvote.

        • +7

          reddit credibility = zero

        • +3

Looks to me if this is bending your phone, it's actually you bending your own phone by gripping/twisting too hard

          • +2

@Jackson: It does allow you to exert more torque by nature of extending your grip further out.

        • +9

Learnt a new word today, "disproof"

      • Here's a video from a smaller channel. Big enough to have some credibility, small enough to have no real reason to lie.

        https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Gd9xDx8ywMI

I'd say caution if you have a big phone (like this guys galaxy note).

        • Thanks for the info. Obviously, there is a mixed view of the bending issue. What I read is that most people are saying this is a non-issue, or could be due to applying too much force as suggested by Jackson above.

          • @aveeno bb: Sure, pretty likely it only affects a minority but it's still worth noting. I personally bought one to use with my S20 FE, hopefully the plastic back flexes and doesn't bend haha

    • +1

I have one and it is nowhere near strong enough to bend a phone unless maybe it's bigger than a galaxy note.

Not a concern for any kind of name brand device.

    • +1

I call shenanigans. There's no way this would bend your phone.

Qualifications: I have a phone and a Kishi and the phone is not bent.

  • +2

I use this with my OnePlus 7 pro, it's fantastic with Xbox game pass cloud streaming.

    • Hi do you play this using a VPN? I tried it but the lag was too much for me to use

      • xCloud Preview is live in Australia. Invite-only, but works fine.

    • Thanks, I have the same phone and was wondering if this fit.
Do you need to take out the phone case? Mine is a thick.

    • Is GamePass cloud streaming invite only at the moment in Australia?

  • +4

This is what the RRP should be. Great price for those that one to jump on.

  • I don't have xcloud, and this is a bit to expensive for the run of the mill android gaming. I'd probably prefer to play my 3ds, which I picked up for 99 bucks and that's an entire console.

Still this is a whole new option, what if you have xcloud but no xbox? Is it feasible to play all your games just on this?

    • +1

It's really just a Bluetooth controller for your smartphone.

Technically It's not any different to pairing an Xbox or PS4 game pad to your device and using the $25 plastic clip, the only benefit is that it's a lot more compact.

As for gaming you are not just limited to Ms Xcloud, there's also GeForce Now (Coming Soon) and Steam in home streaming

      • +2

It's not bluetooth it connects through the usb port.

    • -6

      I don't have xcloud

Nobody in Australia has XCloud. It hasn’t been released in Australia yet. It should be here soon however

      • +9

I do, the beta has been up and running for months. It's pretty great actually.

      • Been using it for months on the preview. Works great.

      • This info is wrong, if you registered for preview, people in Australia can access it.

      • +1

I've been using it since January, it actually works pretty well despite the Oz internet but there's only like ~30 games on Xcloud atm and it has a different games list to XGP for PC at least.

  • FWIW I prefer devices that allow the phone to be attached to a PS4 or Xbox controller due to the controller familiarity/quality.

Having the phone above the controller, rather than extending from the top, is better for comfort and screen distance if you use this method.

    • Good point thanks for the advice. I'll probably use something like that more when xbox cloud gets released here.

    • +3

I think Nintendo and their horde of switch players would disagree.

I was until getting a new phone, a 3D printed bracket for a PS3 controller, worked well enoug but was shaky. I prefer the side mount controllers as they appear more stable, but each to their own.

    • +4

I actually find that setup horrible and top heavy. Also with phones getting bigger and bigger it’s increasingly moreso. I ditched my “phone above the controller” setups and have been using the Kishi since it came out and vastly prefer it. The fact that the Kishi is directly plugged into the device rather than adding latency via Bluetooth is also an added bonus.

      • Yup just want to comment on this too. I bought a bracket to play on top and it definitely didn't feel right. Very top heavy - I've OnePlus 7. Think I'll be getting this too.

  • +1

do the games have to support the buttons or do they all support them by default?

  • I ordered one a few days ago for $10 more, booooo.
Getting mine for xbox in home streaming when the TV is taken, looks like the best "one of these".

  • Oh man. I just bought this from Amazon, same seller for $100 like two days ago.

    • If it's not shipped cancel and repurchase it at this price. You don't get charged until shipped.

  • These are great for emulation, the latest phones can emulate modern systems and the USB-C reduces the latency. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mzO0dJjSk9k. This is a great price - they are usually very expensive.

  • here's a somewhat older (5months) compatibility list for phone sizes etc

    https://www.reddit.com/r/razer/comments/i6fxja/razer_kishi_u…

  • +1

Is there an iPhone alternative to this?

  • +8

Was about to pull the trigger and then remembered I don't have time for video games anymore :(

    • +2

Buy it and collect dust, like every other full time working parents out there.

      • +1

I was about to buy this, then I read your comment, I felt it in my soul, I know you speak the absolute truth, now I can't bring myself to buy it :(

        • Totally get how you feel. I got Wii U, 3DS, Switch PS4, tons of games on PC, android, iPad. I never have time to touch them.

Buying this accessory doesn't make sense

Kids, family, career, financial management, housework are the priorities

I also have subscription eg PSN for two years all in doing is use the mobile app to purchase monthly games but not downloading them

  • Can a phone with cover be used?

    • If the phone is small and slim enough, possibly.

There are posts that talks about removing the rubber inside to make more space.

  • +2

You can do ps5 and ps4 remoteplay using a third party app called psplay. Highly recommend to use with kishi.

    • +1

Yep can confirm. PSplay works very well with the kishi. I use the Kishi across Xbox remote play/xcloud beta and ps games via PSplay.

Have had this setup for 3 months and is awesome.

  • anyone tried this with AMD link? is the latency (back to your desktop) playable?

  • Showing as $91.74 now?

  • I have the Gamesir T4 Pro. Love it with my android phone and works nicely with xCloud. Pretty much mimics xbox 360 controller layout with Bluetooth. Plenty of compatibility with other systems, the only let down is that it feels light and cheaper (not as solid as a proper xbox controller).

  • WARNING: This does not work with COD Call of Duty Mobile. I had to find out the hard way. I cancelled my order right away.

    • A lot of Mobile games are designed exclusively for touch screen to try and eliminate unfair advantage by people hooking up controllers. PUBG does it too. You basically need an app that maps areas of the touch screen to a button press.

      • They brought back compatibility with Xbox and ps4 official controllers.

The caveat is that you will only be matched with other players using the controllers.

  • Just a heads up, this isn't compatible with the Oppo A52, I found out the hard way.

    • What was the issue?

      • Mines not compatible with Oneplus 7T Pro, but compatible with Pixel 5.

        • There are reports that Android 11 is causing issues with some devices. It worked on my note 20 ultra with Android 11 but not pixel 2 XL.

      • The phone just couldn't detect the controller. I contacted support and they said "Unfortunately, we don't have visibility if there is a possibility that Oppo will be supported on Kishi in the near future. We appreciate your understanding." Exact quote, not my grammar.

        • Yeah Razer support is just bad.

See if you can return it with Amazon.

          • @aveeno bb: I reckoned if you return it, since it is from Amazon US, you probably have to return it all the way to the US?

            • @cloudie9: Yes but if you select the right reason, it's free return to Sydney warehouse, assuming you have Prime.

          • @aveeno bb: Yeah already returned it to Amazon on Wednesday (10th March) Status on Amazon still says "Return Requested" So hoping for an update in the next few days. I have Prime if that makes a difference, not sure as I've never returned anything to Amazon before.
