ShopBack has often paid me out out of their own funds when this has happened

      BS

      • Thank you for reaching out to us at ShopBack!

Firstly, I would like to apologize for your experience and I understand it can be frustrating to not receive what you expected. We will do our best to help you out.

I have gone ahead and rectified this for you by crediting the cashback accordingly, it should reflect in your Shopback account within 24 hours as "Pending". We apologize for the hiccup.

        • I have had that a couple of times.
It goes in as "Pending", stays there "Pending" for a while and eventually is "Rejected" and not paid out.

  • +7

They refused to cashback my purchases late last year as well. Never gonna use it again.

  • +6

Get ready to chase this up with Debra.

  • +4

I've used ShopBack before and I haven't had any problems with them. I prefer using CashRewards though, if both have the same rate.

  • +9

Sorry, this is not a deal. They are not reliable, wilfully or unwilfully.

My claim for 12% Black Friday cashback on my Amazon was rejected for high value items. They only track the small value purchases.

    • +5

I just realised they also rejected all my Amazon tracking as well. Taking my money out and never ever use this lot again

    • +2

I am not alone. Bought a air purifier and the cashback is rejected while two bottles of shampoo is approved. I did follow all the step (Opening a new page after each transaction).

  • +2

How much money did ShopBack make last year?

  • +1

made order from Amazon, havent received tracking email…

    • Lately my tracking from SB takes about 24 hours for Amazon…so don't stress too much.

  • +3

What’s the go with these SB deals? Some deals are negged from the get-go while other SB deals barely get any negs.

I’ve never personally had an issue with SB and I’ve used them a lot, along with CR and while I’ve had more issues with the latter than the former I’m just trying to understand why all the neggers seem to come out of the woodwork at the same time.

    Coincidence?

    • +2

I've noticed the same thing. Mob mentality.

      • +2

This post appeared on the front page due to the nature of it (upsized cashback with a major retailer) whilst other deals aren't seen as "lucrative". It's not mob mentality when we're trying to warn other users from what has been a poor experience for others.

Completely up to the viewer/reader on whether they want to take the risk and proceed with the information provided. The negative/downvotes help them make an informed decision (which for many people end up in regret)

        • I only ever look at the front page. Plenty of other Shopback deals land on there and don't have all the negs. Rather odd. Seems people need a "brave" few to go first before they're willing to contribute.

          • @Viper8: This is how I see it also that's why I thought I'd ask. I don't care if people neg a company/deal I was just curious why people felt the need to neg sometimes but not others.

    • -1

I’m yet to see a post from a single person showing proof that shopback got paid from the merchant and ripped the end user off.

Come on folks show some proof - contact the stores IT and provide your transaction details and escalate it and keep escalating and let’s get to the bottom of this. The stores surely don’t like these commission companies and would only be too glad to discredit them. (No pun intended)

Gets some proof and if there is theft, then they should be banned. If SB/CR didn’t get paid - then that’s a different problem.

      • +6

What? These deals are between the customer (ourselves) and the business (Shopback) - if there are any issues with the merchant, than it's Shopback's responsibility to deal with that.

Plenty of people have used the app directly, and taken screenshots, and Shopback has still rejected these claims. And it's not like Shopback doesn't know - they used to have a very active rep on OzB.

        • So are you stating that you believe shopback is stealing and/or being dishonest by keeping commission?

Or are you stating that because the tracking between shopback and merchant failed that shopback should be liable anyway?

If you truely think it is the former - then lets get the proof. That is all my point is.

If it is the latter - then the integration mechanism is clearly #### - but whether or not the merchants would be willing to change their ecommerce system to appease a business that ultimately could be seen to be taking away from their profit line is questionable - although they would argue they drive traffic and provide analytical data that can be beneficial to ones sales. CB have a $30 cap should tracking fail: https://www.cashrewards.com.au/blog/cashback-guarantee/

A simple coupon approach would be far simpler than stuffing around with tracking cookies and other request headers - and provide clear proof that all parties are on board as far as the $X amount will ultimately will be returned. Not sure why they don't do this - other than the store not wanting a bar from it.

          • @mshanann: I think dishonest. This is quite some time ago now but it was with DJ and after a lot of digging, I found out DJ paid the CB. Then i told SB. Then suddenly it went through whereas previously impossible.

  • +1

SB declined my refer bonus according to their strictly "a fixed set of conditions and rules that they use to determine the genuineness of the referrals" where CR has processed the same refer bonus without any issues, NO MORE refer for SB in the future!

  • +1

It says "Sportswear is included under Sports Category (Not Fashion)". So what about running shoes? They do pop up under "Shoes" in Amazon?

  • +5

Jumped on the Dell promo SB did and got burnt. Even did it all via their phone app to avoid confusion.

  • +4

All aliexpess 11.11 deals rejected, didn't know till this forum, not a good look.

    • +1

Where is gotyourback to address some of the concerns .
And yes too many people use opposite of themselves user names :)

    • +2

Yeah I just saw the same on my purchase of what looks to be a qualifying product, odd. Shame.

  • Did anyone receive the cashback from Rebel Sport: 20% Cashback (Capped $50) @ ShopBack when purchasing the Garmin Forerunner 245 Music on 10/11/2020?
I didn't purchase given the risk of SB declining the $50 cashback and as with most deals the comments are closed before anyone can update or neg the deal later if it goes wrong?
    https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/579917

    • +1

Yeah I got my cashback from that deal

      Purchase was only around $60

  • +4

My last decent sized Myer purchase in their app on iPhone was rejected. No VPNs, adbockers etc were active either. No reason to think it’d be different with Amazon.

It’s not a vendor problem, or a user problem, if their own app can’t track it: it’s their problem. (It’s a boring story but sometimes you’ve just gotta vote to neg.)

  • +3

Bought 2 items 9 hours back. Cashback not tracked. In the past, Amazon purchases were tracked immediately. Something wrong with these upsized ones.

  • +1

For the majority who had their purchases tracked but cashback rejected, maybe it's because the merchants refused to honor the commission, and ShopBack didn't want to pay out of their own pocket. If that's the case, it would be a bad enough move from ShopBack

  • +5

Can we actually just ban shopback links/deals from being posted on OB? At least until they sort out their cashback tracking?

    • -3

Absolutely no issues here and I use them frequently. OTOH I have had numerous issues with CR so maybe we should ban them also and in the meantime I can drop into all deals re: CR and drop a neg vote.

      • Cool Jonesy my story is I signed someone up for a boosted Ebay deal last year they did not received it .They tried chasing it up for the generic email reply .

They were smart first and last use of SB :)
They only use CR nowadays and if a problem occurs ( sometimes it does ) TA looks after it here.

        • That's the difference: CR has issues too sometimes, but they deal with it well (at least, in my case they always have for the very few issues out of many hundreds of transactions).

    • I started using Shopback in October (after never being targeted in any of the CR targetted bonuses and had a third item not track). I've accumulated $280, and so far 100%. I don't trust them yet though and screenshot everything. If they reject it, then I will report them accordingly.

      My number one tip

ALWAYS UPDATE THE APP - just before purchasing. Maybe that makes the difference as both CR and SB haven't missed a beat since being told to do this.

Now for unreliable fulfillment of deals. That 100% goes to Flybuys. If you were going to ban a trader, that would be it. Most recent, they said they weren't even aware of the promotion I screen shotted. They are 7 from 12 since October for me. The Coles online website … No words for that experience!

      • report them to where?

        • Fair trading.

          • @tunzafun001: have you heard of anyone doing this and what was the outcome?

  • Purchase 2 watches separately during this morning (around 6:00am) - eligible for 25% Amazon cashback.

Both tracked at 5.5% cashback and at 12:00am 22/02/2021.

I think ShopBack is having trouble tracking the actual time of transaction.

  • +6

Just bought something in the boosted category, and it tracked at 6% instead of 25%. Also took over 15 hours to track otherwise I would have cancelled the order immediately.

  • +1

Just got tracking for $3.63 from 2 pairs of pants i ordered this morning for $57 😐. Hope rep comes into this thread. I normally never have issues with SB but this month i've had to submit my first claim ever and now this.

  • +3

Purchased a watch on Amazon Australia today and was tracked as normal %7 instead of %25 upsized cashback!

    • Same!!! I wonder if I should send an enquiry to them?

    • Yup. Bought a watch strap (watch category) and tracked at ~5%.

  • +1

    Tracked at 6% instead of 25% :(

  • +3

    25% more like 0%

  • +3

    Tracked at 7%

  • +3

    Tracked at 7%

  • +3

Bought some shoes and only tracked at 7%.

EDIT: I chatted with them and they changed it to the correct amount without any fuss.

    • How to live chat with them?

    • +2

My live chat went a bit differently, the agent claimed that the team was aware of the issue and it would be fixed within 48 hours. Won't hold my breath on it though

  • It's silly mistakes like this which further undermine ozbargainers confidence in shopback

  • +1

Looks like shopback is down at the moment, is the party over?

    • -1

Honestly who upvotes this? Shopback is fine here, no issues accessing the site or app!

      • It was down for me as well. It's now back up

  • +1

Just to add, all my Amazon purchases for rejected by SB too. For Amazon, I'll avoid SB.

    • +1

There's just gonna be more rejections when Amazon keeps changing the categories eligibility for cashback EVERY month.

  • +2

Bought a handbag, track at the normal rate instead of 25%

  • Mine looks like it’s been corrected automatically

  • tracked at 6%, messaged them and their response was that an internal adjustments will reflect 25% within 48hrs.

    • +1

That is what I was told too, but no change after 48 hours.

    • tracking has been changed to 25% 5 days later

  • +1

There is a problem with their app. Transactions don’t track despite them appearing in click history. I don’t know why they don’t fix it as they are losing out in commission too.

  • Mine worked perfectly. Was a purchase from Amazon Us so took a day to track but tracked perfectly at 25% off.

  • +1

Ordered through the App - didn't track. Followed up and old mate Debra gave me the boilerplate spiel:

There are quite a few reasons why these orders may not be attributed to ShopBack. This includes:

    1. If a user clicks on a Honey, Cashrewards, or another chrome extension after clicking from ShopBack
    2. If other web pages (including search sites, social media, store sites, promotional/discount sites) or web browsers are opened after clicking through ShopBack
    3. Clicking through to another page from a banner, pop-up, or advertisement on the store’s webpage whilst shopping
    4. Antivirus/Cleanup or Adblocker applications block or disrupt Cashback tracking (Tracking cookies are required to track transaction)
    5. When the order falls under the merchant’s exclusions, including the use of promo codes not listed on ShopBack.
