  • I have so much to learn in regards to PC'S, prebuild at the like.

Why would somebody go for something like this over some of the 3000 series deals coming from companies on here at a similar price? Are the other components that much better or just paying for the Dell name?

    TIA

Dell name, built quality, and for lazy people (bios/software update etc). Good aftersales support too.

I wouldnt get it personally being quite hands on. Cant say the same for many others that I know.

Not sure if Dells customer support for monitors is any different to PC's but I found it AWFUL.

Two occasions I've had dealing with them and one where they lost my money..

        • I was reading one of the review sites and while I know they can be badly skewed one way or the other it had 1.5/5 stars for Dell service in the last few years.

    • There'd be cases where certain pre builds actually use non generic hardware, though I'd imagine it's lesser an issue at this level.

You're paying for the support here really. And their as good as any. If you don't have that mate you can call to fix things, it's probably worth considering.

Does it? Techfast has a 3070 deal for $77 more.

    • $377 more for i7.

      • i7 $649 Quad Core Intel i7 3.9GHz Esports Gaming Desktop PC

        • Isn't that a really old CPU though? While this is the latest? I have a little trouble working that stuff out.

          • @bigpallooka: could be. found it on Techfast website.
I don't know why Techfast PCs are cheaper than most of the rest.

            • @Romper Stomper: My understanding is the first digit (or in this case digits) in the CPU name is the generation, Gen 3 for TechFast and Gen 10 for this PC. TechFast, I believe uses whatever stock they can find that is cheapest for their builds, so the same build in 2 different deliveries could have the same specs yet different brand parts.

        • i7 3770 is from 2012. Not all i7s are created equal

      Rodney… you plonker…lol

  • 1650 Super for 1400 doesn't look like a run-out-the-door-right-now kind of deal. Can anyone tell me if it's worth this price?

    • The value is in the RRP of this product (what Dell normally sells this for) compared to this price from what I can tell. Warranties, Dell guarantees (good luck with CS) are where the value is based on replies to this thread.

    • The Dell would be a decent media and office PC for many people. Support, warranty, licensed Windows, keyboard and mouse.

  • yeah, i got an 8940 for the Mrs business, it is as said, Support, Warranty, License, i don't have time to mess around with my own build and compatibility issues.
She is using MS Word and Zoom, honestly could use a desktop pc rather than Tower but wanted storage.

Unit failed (bios error) and Dell sent a tech to fit a new motherboard (tragic episode) but then ordered a replacement no questions. New box is fine other than the below…

Once criticism is that they use a Killer network card, it's drivers are complete trash, twice i have had to install and remove the driver pack in order to get the network speed up to scratch. I assume a Windows update re-triggered the driver somehow the 2nd time.
I get 50/1mbps for NBN speed where the 10yo ASUS computer next to it gets 107/38 on a 100/40plan.
if you remove the Killer network drivers the speed is 107/37mbps.

The killer network problem is well known, google it, i don't understand why Dell continue with a clearly non performing nic.
