Best deal I have seen so far for this newly released Wifi-6 mesh system. Doesn't have the dedicated backhaul channel like the more expensive XT8, but great performance for the price and can be setup for wired backhaul. Comes with free lifetime internet security and parental controls.

The ZenWiFi AX Mini system consists of one ASUS AX1800 WiFi 6 router and extending nodes, featuring unique technologies that give you superfast, reliable and secure WiFi connections — inside or outside your home!
· ZenWiFi AX Mini puts your WiFi into top gear! With a total bandwidth of up to of 1800 Mbps, it's up to 1.4X faster than WiFi 5 routers
· Uniquely, ZenWiFi lets you choose how you name your WiFi networks: a single name for everything, or separate names for each frequency band
· AiProtection Classic with Parental Controls is free for life. It gives you total peace of mind, and you can keep an eye on everything that's happening on your network via the mobile app
· ZenWiFi AX Mini works perfectly with smart-home services — including Alexa skills and IFTTT
· Even non-experts can quickly set up AiMesh technology, while more experienced users will appreciate the comprehensive advanced networking features

  • USA version cause any issues?

It'll be locked to the USA firmware. There are some differences with frequencies/channels.

I think overall it'd work fine, but personally I went local just in case there was a hassle. I guess you also want to make sure that these have a universal power supply.

I'm currently on Google WiFi and not getting good enough wireless performance to stream my Quest 2 to PC for PCVR despite being right next to the mesh hub. Was considering just getting just a regular router with WiFi 6 from Asus since range isn't too important to me anymore, could this be a perfect solution?

  • Thanks for that.. was considering buying the given the AC adaptor is a 12V 1.5amp…. the adaptors seagate and WD enclosures should work..
Might stick with local.. or UK..

    may UK AX55 works great..

    • My uk ax55 was crap in an aimesh config. Kept dropping clients.

  • interested, where can i see its web interface?
I want to see if I can run a open VPN server on it (so I can remote back into home when I'm out & about)

  • I got older router running aimesh and it sucks. Never able to roam client properly. Not sure if dedicated mesh router like this is better.

  • Get the CT8. Dedicated backhaul channel. Sold an Orbi system to get it and have been happy with the increased stability and speed.
