    BTW Nice find

    Direct link

  • If you click on the image of the deck in my original post it takes you to a page where it is still $52.50 !?!

On this page it is $92 but if you click on it it takes you to the $53 page

    http://www.jbhifi.com.au/car-sound-gps-navigation/?utm_sourc…

    idk !?!?

  • Thanks. Was looking for an upgrade for my Datsun sunny. Good timing. Cheers.

    • +20

You'd be doubling the value of the car if you installed this tuner in a Datsun Sunny.

      • +18

only if it had a full tank of fuel.

  • Are these easy to install? I haven't been able to play cd's on my unit for ever, just doesn't read disks. This would be a good replacement

    • ease of installation is typically based on the car

      • Ford Falcon Futura '96? It has a non standard cd player in their at the moment (Factory default was only a radio).

        • What brand is the current one? If it's sony, it should plug straight in

        • Just had a quick look, it's a JVC, looks like I'm going to have to get into the plastic casing to get a better look at it.

  • Not a bad deal but I paid $70 and got the same deck with speakers.

  • +2

The JB website is confusing… Says prices are with the 30% off car audio included, but all the decks in the $80-$200 range are the same price as they were before the supposed 30% off!

    • +2

i agree with you 100%..the price of SKU 68856 JVC tuner was 248$ before sale and after sale now its 244$ a whopping 4$ off !! per my calculation its not 30% off !!

  • Might be a stupid question but is this the unit that comes with speakers??

    • is this the unit that comes with speakers?

If it does at this price, you wouldn't want them :-)

      • +2

I think i do… with stock speakers in an 88' skyline, i'll take some shitty sony ones

  • +1

Nearly bought it, but realised no USB or SD-card slot.
So it only plays MP3s from a CD-R?
That was cool 10 years ago, but I'd rather stick with an FM transmitter MP3 in the cigarette lighter socket now.

    • On the topic of cigarette lighter FM transmitters, is it normal to have a hiss in the background when playing? I have a Belkin transmitter and get distortion depending on the position its placed in, very annoying trying to put it in the right spot where the sound is clear

      • can you change the transmit frequency?

        • Yes, it goes from around 88 to 107 FM adjustable

      • Yeah its normal.

      • I heard that some newer cars have poor coupling between the external FM antenna, and the car interior.
        Maybe RF-shielded windscreen?
In that case, this radio with AUX-in would be a good buy.

Or you might just have a bad transmitter. The first one I tried had substantial noise. The one I bought from DX works well. Maybe it has a higher transmit power than legal here.

        • Or it could be that too, im guessing going with an aux-in would bypass all these issues as its a direct signal into the sound system rather than transmitting and receiving

    • +2

no bluetooth either, would rather get something with additional features…

even MP3s of DVD would be good.

    • +3

It certainly doesn't have many of the features of the modern headunits, however if you're rocking a cassette player or your existing headunit's broken and you need a cheap upgrade, $52.50 is just the right price. Also with aux in, most mp3 players, ipods etc could also be used, better quality (and cheaper) than an FM transmitter in many cases IMO.

      • +5

I agree, You cant expect Bluetooth, Touch Screen and BluRay support for $52 !! Its a good little deck for a very good price. Will be replacing my aging Clarion Deck in my run around car with one of these and a nice pair of 6x9's. Should entertain me on my drive to work every day. I have all my MP3s on my phone anyway so the Aux in is perfect for me, much better than FM Transmitter IMO.

    • $30 more and you'll get the usb version..still a pretty good deal.

  • Thanks grabbed one for my folks who have a broken deck at the moment :)

  • +1

    looks freakin awesome for $53.

  • Yeah this was $69 a month ago with 2 speakers, good price nontheless.

  • Nice, I paid like 39 for an Aldi one a while ago; would have much preferred a Sony.

  • Was looking at this HU and went to the JB HiFi in Rundle Mall Adelaide, couldnt see it, they hardly had any HU's on display, after 30 minutes of waiting for someone to service, asked them about it and they only knew once they looked at their own site and checked stock. They still had 3 in Adelaide

Cheap but entry level cd player… perfect replacement for stock HU's

  • Very cheap

  • Got a Pioneer average CD player for my '99 Corolla. Would love to upgrade it to play some mp3 cds, but I doubt this one would just slot in.

Atm with a press of a button I can take the Pioneer out with the electric connections sitting at the back.

  • Just saw an ad on TV and these are currently on sale at Supercheap for $79.

Bought one earlier today from JB though after seeing this deal. :)

  • Bargain lol and delivered to my front door :D

  • Just got this for my dad who had an older model Sony unit that died. Fitted straight in, same plugs and all, and the sound quality is very impressive for the price. My dad is stoked. Thanks OP.

  • RRP of $169 @ sony.com.au - http://www.sony.com.au/product/cdx-gt300mp

  • will it suit for old mazda 323 and easy to install?

  • Do I need a wiring harness for my '94 camry with this? Interested to replace my old hu :)

    • +1

You have 2 options, purchase a wiring harness to connect the Sony loom to your existing cabling without cutting any of the wires OR if you know your never going to be putting the old HU back in again, just cut the the exising plug, identify all the right cables (Power [const], ground, ignition, speakers (FL, FR, RL, RR), strip, solder and tape or you can buy those crimp connections

      • FWIW, i much prefer the wiring harness, might cost 20 bux or so, however, you typically end up with a much neater jobs and somthing thats easy to change over later.

        • This is good in theory, but where would you get a wiring harness for a 1986 Toyota Cressida ? lol

I just spent 2 hours installing it myself, 3 wires for power and 8 wires for speakers.
It's not rocket science, all you need is a $7 multimeter, pliers, philips screwdriver and Google.

        • +1

most cars have a stock wiring, eg, a few models of toyta all share the same one…

          auto barn/supercheap all have them.

          quick google.
          http://www.ebay.com/itm/1985-1986-1987-Toyota-Cressida-Radio…
          just for the single ends…
however, you can usually also get them to other headunits or to ISO. then from ISO to the head unit, thats typically the easiest way.

  • Does anyone know what kind of connection this player has as its wiring(from some light research, looks like Sony's have 8, 16 or 32 pin connections). Im looking to get a harness for my old mazda's cassett player.

Also, anyone who's ordered been able to pick up or have it delivered yet? Im still waiting on the pick up confirmation as my local store doesnt have stock according to their website.

  • Just bought the last one from Adelaide CBD and installed it this arvo, it sounds VERY nice for $53 :)

  • I ordered this online a few days ago and just got a call this morning saying they can't honour the deal as they've run out of stock and the backorder is quite large. Not happy Jan!

    • Anyone else get this call?

      • Just got the call and there appears to be no more stock. They are cancelling my order.

        Deal is dead.

  • My invoice tells me its "Complete" so it must be posted… hope so :)

  • I paid through Paypal and the funds have been sent - hope to not get the call.

  • PIcked up my HU today from Bundall JB HiFi, staff were very helpful as originally it was for delivery (it still has the con note attached). Thanks OP, and thanks JB.

  • I should get it tomorrow I should think…

  • Picked mine up this evening after work after getting the email that its at my chosen store.

  • You could couple it with these:
    http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/53401

I went to JB Knox last night to pick up a pair of Pioneer 3 Way 6" car speakers for $83 (usually $119).
The guy I spoke to there (Jared) mentioned the sale on all this car audio ended last night…don't know if he was pressuring me into buying the speakers then and there though.

  • Mine arrived… From a WA midland store even tho Im 5 minutes from Cannington store :)

  • Hope to get mine soon, still says "awaiting shipment" hope they are back and working hard to get the goods out.
