[PS4] Amplitude (Harmonix) Free for PS Plus & Owners of PS3 Game @ PlayStation Store

160

Not working for some (or maybe to most)

This is the screenshot on my account compared to incognito windows https://imgur.com/a/q3C9mYZ
I manage to add the full game to my library, and got the confirmation on the receipt https://imgur.com/kTnlrLU

Probably targeted. Thanks mod

[Edit]
Mistery is solved, see the explanation from @TheDukeOfNukem
and the link from @mboy https://forum.psnprofiles.com/topic/69827-free-ps4-version/

"Basically, so long as you have Plus, you will maintain your license to the PS3 version, having that license, will grant you the ability to purchase the PS4 version for the princely sum of nothing. The fun part, is when you buy the PS4 version it will count as a new purchase, so you will actually own the PS4 version, which in turn, means you actually own the PS3 version, and are no longer just renting it from PS+."

Trial is Free. Game is not.

    Troll!

  • Can't click the "free" radio button anyway.

  • The 'free' radio button highlights 'trial'.

Thanks for the effort the OP, a good share if it was true but sadly the PS stores whether on browsers or the consoles are deceiving with this sort of thing.

Even worse? If you downloaded a trial of the game and later purchased it, there's no way to tell for many games which is which in your download list.

EDIT: Nevermind, disregard my comment. It’s explained by TheDukeOfNukem below. If you had previously downloaded it on PS Plus for PS3, you can get it for free on PS4. Which explains why I was able to get it.

    Also explained here:
    https://forum.psnprofiles.com/topic/69827-free-ps4-version/

Still, thanks OP for bringing it to my attention.

Thanks. I just read the post from your link: "Basically, so long as you have Plus, you will maintain your license to the PS3 version, having that license, will grant you the ability to purchase the PS4 version for the princely sum of nothing. I'll tell you right now what this would be, you got it on PS+ a while back, and then it became cross buy (and thus, re-eligible for purchase), and the cross buy version is a "new" game on the store, though due to having PS+ on your account, you still have access to the original version, and all previous buyers, Plus or otherwise, will have the new version available for "free", "purchasing" this version will result in the game being on your download list forever as it registers as an actual ownership now.

Sorry, I'm tired and my hand is cramping like (profanity) so I hope that made sense, but this has happened with plenty of games for me, Hotline Miami, Oddworld remake, the Jak trilogy, etc. and this game. I've not have Plus for years now and still have this in my download list, didn't pay a cent.

Thanks, this explains it, I don't even remember to have this game on PS3

If you've had Plus for a few years, it's definitely worth running through the store and checking out any potential cross buy things like this. Off the top of my head I remember,

Sly 1, Hotline Miami, Resogun, Amplitude, Thomas Was Alone, Jak 1/2/3 (not the PS4 versions), Oddworld New n Tasty, Entwined, Towerfall Ascension, Don't Starve, Spelunky

There's more, but the new PSN site doesn't let me go further back than PS4 stuff / I can't be bothered loading up the old one with the link, but you get the idea.

and are no longer just renting it from PS+

That sounds like my kind of wording.

    clicks PSNP link

Ahaha shit, it is me, just over a year ago. Could have just copy pasted my own explanation and saved you the time, had I thought I mentioned it on PSNP.

Edit: And after reading my post, I'll add Mercenary Kings to my list above, forgot about him. And to think, the last comment I did before this post was saying I love Metal Slug in the GWG for March, and I forgot Mercenary Kings, shame.

  • Either way, excellent game

  • Worked for me thanks! Just did it through PS Store on Google Chrome.

  • So no PS Plus no free game basically?

    • And you also had to of had the PS3 version on the account.
