1650Ti for ~$1700 is not very impressive (neither cheap nor capable). Only positive is the lighter weight and build quality here.

    • Is the build quality better than ThinkPad T14 (AMD)?

      • similar. Mostly an aesthetics thing since both are just made of aluminum

        • T14 is made of aluminum? I thought its all tough plastic.

          • @UncommonName: It is. The T14s, the slimmer/lighter model "premium" model (no upgradeable RAM and worse thermals due to form factor) is aluminium.

its pretty hard to find a 14" with a decent GPU though..

      • +2

        Ah, ozbargain at it's worst.

  • +4

Was cheaper last year $1537.10 so definitely some room for further discounts.

    • -3

      WRONG. It was $1,637.10
      Today's price is very similar.

Really good laptop given the 8+ hour battery life.

Great hybrid between performance and battery longevity.

although the 1650ti is about to get trounced by the 3000 series.

    • +2

People keep banging on about the battery life but I never got more than 1.5 hours from mine.

      • +1

8hrs for microsoft word and reading from websites haha, youtube/videos it's about 2-3 and gaming is abysmal. This is on balanced power option standard from factory and low/minimal brightness.

  • Yeah, I bought this a couple of months ago. Reasonably portable and runs everything fine.

  • +3

I will wait for 3060 at this price

  • Did they introduce a web cam or is it still missing?

    • I read it still lacks a webcam unless this is a new model

      • +3

New model still lacks a webcam (as does this particular one, and the updated G15). I have no idea what where they thinking in the middle of a pandemic

        • I decided against buying this one because it didn't have a webcam. Although Asus had a promotion running that time, they were giving away webcam with this purchase. But not really portable.

Decided against it and bought the Asus Tuf Gaming Model 15' with Webcam.

Lowest you wanna go is 1660 Ti on the 16xx series for laptops. Otherwise look for newer cards. Dat diff:

    • ^better specs for $130 extra but this Zephyrus at $1669 is as good as it gets in this price range (sub2k) for portable laptops (that are well built and isn't more than 2 kgs/15 inches) that can run fairly new games and processing intensive tasks quite decent.

I bought the 2070 version of this and returned it the next day.

      • The fans are very loud, even on idle. I tried a bunch of different fan profiles but none were great.
      • The trackpad has pretty poor tracking
      • You don't get a numpad on the trackpad despite what the images show. It's not mentioned in the manual either.
      • Screen build quality is questionable - has a ton of flex
    • its a 15.6inch though, where 14" is top tier size

    • 2.4kg is a bit more hefty though. Kinda hard to compare.

  • +1

was hoping this is the 1660ti version but nope :(

  • -1

The Dell G5 17” 2070 is better IMO

    • +2

better in specs and performance/$? yeah but the people in the market for this laptop wouldn't be comparing it to a 17" laptop

    • +3

This is thinner, made of aluminum, smaller, and more portable. If you looking for power ofc go for the g5

    • +1

Does a 17" even count as a laptop? that thing is massive just get a small desktop

  • I highly recommend this laptop, but the silver version. The black one will lose its paint pretty quickly

  • +2

Would've been a fantastic deal with a 2060, or even a 1660 Ti. That 1650 Ti is just not it chief.

Besides, isn't the G15 about to release anyway?

  • id rather buy asus tuf gaming laptops atleast i am getting a 1660ti

    • Tuf is more budget. Not the same small form factor.
      But yeah it’s better value.

  • I need the ANE MATRIX lights with the same price point, any links are much appreciated.

  • +1

dont buy a 1650ti laptop now lol

  • Amd ryzen
    Intel fallin

Christ I think I'm the first person to make that joke…
    Nothing but shame
