Looks like the best 17" i7 Sandybridge under $1,000 that I've seen that's not an Acer or HP

Features:

Wireless N
0.3M Camera
Windows 7 Home Premium 64 Bit

  • what is 0-3 camera?

    • 0.3 Megapixles?

  • Guys, is this any good?

    • Well, for the same or similar specs I can't find anything that will be under $1,000 unless it's HP or Acer, both of which I won't touch.

I was hoping Dell had some better boxing day deals but unfortunately it wasn't to be :(

  • maybe check this http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/52601

seems the same one a few months back

    • Saw that but now it's $999 rather than $1,198

  • What a horrible resolution on a 17"! I have a Vaio from 2006 that has 1920 x 1200 in 17".

    • +2

And how much more did you pay for it at that time?

      • A higher resolution is not always desirable on a small display. Some people might prefer 1600 x 900. Once you go any higher screen elements get very small. So it's not horrible, just usable for a lot of people (where FullHD would not be).

  • There's a pic on this site

I bought one of this range (an i5 one) a few months ago for a client - very nice laptop. Nice bronze coloured aluminium (I'm guessing by the title this one must be silver). Well finished. Good for business or home use, not a screaming gamer. The webcam is ok, despite its low resolution (problem is you have to tilt the screen down a bit to get in the picture).

A few weeks ago I bought the Acer one from Online Computers that was on Ozbargain for $899 and it was ok specs/price wise, but a strange blue colour and plastic.
