    • what's the main difference between RLK8-800D4 & RLK8-800B4 (this deal). I noticed audio can be captured by D4 but is there any other benefit?

      • +1

bullet and dome type camera, I prefer Dome, bullet camera look stupid

        • Look I hear you and can relate, but you need to realise that Bullet cams provide a far superior picture quality, and their physical size is about that of the dome anyway.
So yes I like domes and turrets but I have bullets in all the places that mater for the superior picture quality.

          • @UltimateAI: If you look at their spec, they have the same spec, just different shape. Again, stop generalising, people. We are living in the era where most of the electronic made in Asia and especially China, they can make and mimic anything, so what the real spec and quality are matter. For example they can fake an IPHONE with mediatek and Android inside.

            • +1

@ntt: You do realise that according to the manual they have different sized sensors!

              Specifically:
              B800: 1/2.5" CMOS (larger)
              D800: 1/2.7" CMOS (smaller)

So confirms what I said bullets will let in more light and have better picture quality.

No idea how your ramble about China related to bullets vs domes.

              • @UltimateAI: mate! where did you get that manual from? Have a quick look at the official website, they are identically the same, except for the shape
                https://reolink.com/au/product/b800/#specifications
                https://reolink.com/au/product/d800/#specifications

by talking about China product, I meant they can make whatever shape and product you THINK they are, but what inside is the most important.

                • +1

@ntt: Wow, "egg on face" you are absolutely right by those specs.
F2.0 night time performance must be real embarrassing.
I don't know why the site and current specs list both as having a 1/2.8 sensor that is tiny. Perhaps they revamped the product line, that is really bad.

                  • @UltimateAI: 2021 and we are still paying overprice CCTV camera, but this one is not bad quality with promotion price, at least compare to Swann. I use enough electrical device to know that sometimes the spec doesn't decide everything, just like compare processor Mediatek vs Snapdragon. That's why we have to rely on reviews and feedbacks.

Camera shape and field of view

      • +1

The main difference is the appearance of the camera. B4 can also record audio, and the 8-channel NVR for both systems supports 4K resolution and AI function.

  • Hey OP, can you please make the dome system for the same price and / or 8 camera too?

    • Thank you for the support. Let's expect the next sale for the dome system!

      • are they the same between the bullet and dome? just different shapes, aren't they?

        • Yes, the camera shape is the major difference. They both can record audio, record continuously to the HDD, remote access, e-mail notifications, etc.

        • bullet camera is wider angle of view

          • @jedimaster: no, it's not. I read the spec both in this case and they are the same. Please read spec before give a general advice.

          • @jedimaster: Incorrect, but even if true it's not a plus. Most newbies go for a wide FOV only to later realise that you just can't make out enough detail to identity someone. It all comes down to the particular install, but overview cams (wide field are view) are over rated. Better off with more cams with narrower field of views.

    • @ntt Hey, this week RLK8-800D4 is having a 25% discount off on Amazon AU. New Deal Post here. If you're still interested in the kit, please refer to RLK8-800D4

      • I couldn't wait and bought the bullet one already T_T

        • Haha, no worries ;) They both work well. It's just the appearance differs.

  • how do you compare with arlo - 3? is this wired or wireless ?i think arlo is wireless?

    • This is a PoE system that requires wired connection. If you would like to have a wireless one, you can see Argus 2 or Argus Pro The wireless system Argus 2 with Solar Panel is having a 15% coupon now.

  • +1

Do these (or more specifically the dome ones as I'll wait for those) work with Google Home as well?

I'm not sure if these are the same as the individual POE cameras (eg RLC-822A) that work with Google Home, just with an NVR attached or are they different?

Want to be able to ask my Google hub to show a camera.

    • +1

No, I'm afraid not. The system is not compatible with Google Home now. And for the cameras in the kit, they cannot be used as stand-alone so that they don't support Google Home either.
If you want 4K cameras that can be viewed on your Google Hub, you could see RLC-810A with person/vehicle detection.

      • Thanks, from what I can see I could add an NVR with the RLC-810A or the RLC-820A. Would that then allow recording and Google Home compatibility or do you lose compatibility once an NVR is connected.

        • +1

Home oy works with the cameras directly connected. With a nvr they do not

        • They lose the compatibility of Google Home when they're connected to the NVR. But as individual cameras, they work fine with Google Home.
