Can I Please Get Peeps from Victoria to Send in Complaint to Vicroads?

Hi, so basically if you have eligible concession card for cheaper rego, when you receive your email/communication for registration renewal there is no entry in fee breakdown, when you login, that concession has been applied. There is nowhere on the website that i could find this detail. Very annoying and frustrating.

I had to do a 'rain dance' so to speak to get it sorted.
Link is below and my message, feel free to copy and paste

thanks everyone, we will try to make a difference, fingers crossed.
regards

Re: Registration Fee Breakdown - no Concession entry

Hi,
thank you for sending out reminders about registration renewals.
Unfortunately i had a bit of trouble confirming whether my account had or not the concession rate enabled because there was no entry under the fee breakdown.

Once i received the first email to pay, i clicked the link to login into my account and i was shown:

Registration Fee and
Tac Charge

and that's it.

So i proceeded to email support in which they replied to submit the concession application online. In which i did.

After receiving another email stating that my application for concession was successful and wait 24 hrs to see the change on my account.
I waited a few days and still no change.

Frustrated and annoyed, I rang customer service to be told it was already enabled.
I explained my situation, he said he would push to his manager.

please get this detail added to the fee breakdown.
I don't want to have to deal with this saga again next year, i have no visibility on my end to see if concession is enabled or not.

A simple entry on the fee breakdown is all the is needed.

regards

When we all make $100k pa this does not apply

  • +4

    Sounds like a YOU problem

    • So basically OP did not look hard enough on the website to find what the costs should be because you should be able to figure out what you should pay using those two links.

      • +1

I disagree, can-man. Note this from the OP:

'A simple entry on the fee breakdown is all [that] is needed.'

I agree with this 100%, and it has been the 'industry standard' (across virtually every industry) since the early 1990s. I.e., look at any bill you have received in the last decade and it will generally include an itemised breakdown of how much you were charged for what, and any discounts/concessions applied.

The OP is saying that apparently VicRoads never got this brief/failed to 'get with the program' re listing/itemising applicable concessions. If that is true, then VicRoads definitely should update their systems, and ensure that their bills are fully explanatory; like every other state government department (and most private companies) are capable of doing these days—in my experience in any case.

        • I don't disagree with you except half of the OP's complaint is that they couldn't find the information. My point is still valid, they could have found the information.

There is nowhere on the website that i could find this detail.

i have no visibility on my end to see if concession is enabled or not.

What are you asking for? I genuinely have no idea.

  • +1

    I’d rather not

  • -1

I'm confused as to what you're asking for ? you'd like the email reminders to show a concession ?

or you're annoyed you had to apply for your concession ?

i don't mean to sound rude but it sounded like you had to put a small amount of effort in to get your rego at half the price of the non-concession holders …and you're unhappy about this amount of effort ?

    • Yo Bogan Praying Mantis … re:

'… but it sounded like you had to put a small amount of effort in to get your rego at half the price of the non-concession holders …and you're unhappy about this amount of effort ?'

You have misread the OP's post. What they are frustrated about is the lack of explanatory detail on the VicRoads bill. Unless I am mistaken, the OP is saying that the bill does not clearly indicate that a concession has been applied, even though it ultimately emerged (they ultimately confirmed verbally, on the phone, not in writing) that one had. That's a legitimate problem/gripe/untoward state of affairs, and if it is true it is highly likely that thousands of Victorian concession card holders go through this same angst every year—and VicRoads should address this, by simply 'moving with the times' and issuing appropriately detailed bills/rego-renewal notices.

Can you also draft a letter of complaint about Vic plated vehicles on Sydney roads during peak hour…

    • +5

Victorians going to Sydney raises the average IQ of both states :-)

  • The way I understand it, is the OP is salty because the way his renewal is laid out, it doesn't let him know if what he's being billed with has the concession he's entitled to factored in. If it let him know, and it wasn't factored in yet, then he could apply for the concession because he's eligible. If it did let him know that it's already been factored in, then he's satisfied in the knowledge that he qualifies for a concession and has already gotten the reduction, with no further action necessary.

It's clearly an appeal to them to straighten out the formatting of their renewal forms for greater transparency. OP knows they are entitled to a 50% discount (say) but they get a notice that says "Please pay $X" for this service". Has the discount already been applied? Should they pay this then request a remission? Have they accidentally been sent a quote for a "normal" person, so they need it to be re-issued with the correct credit applied on it?

Unfortunately I'm not in Victoria, but here's the text of a fax I've just sent to the Spanish consular general in Canada. Hopefully someone there will forward it on.

    Dear Sir and Or Madam,
what are you playing at there ive liked smiths salt and vingear for years and i bought a bag the other day and i could swear it should have been labelled salt and salt and vinegar because the ratio was right off its like welcome to the salt party sorry were just waiting for vineragr to show up why do you keep messing with these things just leave things loike they are you aresholes sort it out already also the vic roads people have ambiguous invoice layouts come on sort that out too while youre at it you know how much a P.I.T.A. (pardon my french) it is to try and get a straight answer on a phone line from a human during business house a bit more thought when designing your systems yeah
    Yours Faithfully,
    C. Row-Really (from OzBargain)
P.S. Please send exactly half this message to Smiths and half to Vic Roads cheers

    It's not rocket science.

The concession is 50% off normal registration fees, so if you are paying 1/2 the registration fees shown on the VicRoads site it means you are receiving the correct concession.

I've never had any problems understanding this basic fact.

    • Yes, it's not like it's 5%, 50% off can't be easily missed.

    • Hithers, re:

'The concession is 50% off normal registration fees, so … (etc.)'

It's not that simple. A glance at the VicRoads website indicates that it's only 50% off a part of (one of) the various charges that make up the overall amount payable each year, and in fact that amount/those components also vary depending on a bunch of other things that are badly explained on their website as well. Interestingly/tellingly, there was a story on prime-time news in Melbourne just last night stating that parts of VicRoads will now be fully privatised, due to their inability to move their 'registration systems' out of the dark ages. It seems that in the hands of the Victorian state government VicRoads has now become so useless and ineffectual that they are officially going to follow in the footsteps of 'Telecom' (remember that useless/infuriating excuse for a 'publicly-owned/run entity'?) … and become largely privatised (nice one VicRoads, way to suck so much that you force privatisation) … I bet the OP had a 'vindicated chuckle' at that one. I certainly would have.

    • Did the roads go away?

  • -1

Just take your renewal certificate to the PO with your concession card and they will charge the correct (reduced concessional) amount.
    Seriously, how difficult is that?

    • -1

Another response completely missing the point. The OP is simply wanting VicRoads to operate a proper/transparent/normal/itemised rego'-renewal billing service (which us tax-payers pay for). To use your words Ockmeister:

      Seriously, how difficult is that?

Every other company on the planet seems to have been managing to do it for decades now …

  • Because of IT contracting etc, it might cost a lot to enable that format change. If you are paying the right amount according to a rego calculator for example, it's the same thing.

  • No thanks

    Hi,
thank you for sending out reminders about vicroads email.
Unfortunately i had a bit of trouble confirming whether I live in Victoria because there was no entry under the address breakdown.

Once i received the first email to register on ozbargain, i clicked the link to login into my account and i was shown:

    Ene loop and
    Shopback Charge

    and that's it.

So i proceeded to email support in which they replied to submit a manual Shopback cashback online. In which i did.

After receiving another email stating that my application for concession was successful and wait 24 hrs to see the change on my account.
I waited a few days and still no change.

Frustrated and annoyed, I rang Debra to be told it was already enabled.
I explained my situation, she said she would push to her manager and I should purchase eBay Plus and some Quilton toiletpaper from Amazon.

please get this detail added to the fee breakdown.
I don't want to have to deal with this saga again next year, i have no visibility on my end to see if concession is enabled or not.

A simple entry on the ozbargain forums is all that is needed.

    regards
