For those waiting for PS5 stock:

    1. Playstation 5, Click 'Create Alert'
    2. Go to Subscriptions > Events in Settings.
    3. Click Email and/or Web then 'Save Preferences'
    4. Wait for the search alert email and/or download the OzBargain app to get push notifications from the web notifications (Make sure you login after downloading the app).

There is also this twitter account which sometimes picks them up, if you set your Twitter to receive alerts for new tweets. No harm in doing both.

Edit: Just realised search alerts are delayed up to 30 minutes so best just to check OzBargain live page for new posts when you are able rather than rely on notifications. Also subscribe to comments in previous deal posts in the case of them coming back in stock someone will usually comment. That includes this post.

    • +1

Says this was listed 40min ago, but i only just got my notification now… :(

      • I setup the above alert earlier today and received it after 10 minutes. Might depend on device or OS, if you are on Android try turning battery optimisation off for the app.

If still no good, you could turn email alert on as well as backup in case notifications don't come in 10 minutes as they should.

        • +2

the Aussie bargain app works well purely for notifications (< 2 mins) 😉

      • Don't bother with the OzBargain notifications (for the PS5 at least as it's too slow - getting notified of new deals is awesome), use the Twitter account instead. Since following it I have had several opportunities to buy the PS5 from different retailers.

The Press Start Twitter account is also on the ball.

the only joke here is y'all gaming on these devices.

    • +1

Haha, some people need to get a sense of humour. It's pretty obvious to those with even a passing interest in gaming.

    • chill ppl. this is obviously a joke……

  • +2

    Wohooo!! Got one! Thanks OP!

  • +24

Thasnk OP, bought one and then cancelled my order so i can officially say i ordered a PS5

    • +3

      lmfao 💀

that means one of them would go up soon

  • +27

Panicked and bought. Now to tell the wife. It's been fun OzBargain.

I’ll continue your legacy by taking it off your cold dead hands

    • +9

If your wife gives you a hard time about buying a ps5 then you married the wrong one.

      • Then I am sure most of us have married the wrong wives.

        • I guess I got the right one then.

When the PS5 was announced I suggested picking up a PS4 as they'd be getting cheaper, she told me to just get the PS5 as it would have a longer life.

I lucked out with a launch day order.

          • @Xenocaust: No way. Was that after she negotiated with you about getting her a new phone at double the price of a PS5?

    • Hopefully she'll just hit you with the ultimatum and you'll have all the time in the world to play!

    • +4

Did the same.. bought it, had it delivered then explained later..

      .
      .
      .
      .

      I survived the interrogation

    • +2

What's the saying… It's easier to ask for forgiveness than permission.

    • +3

Imagine asking your wife's permission to use YOUR money lmao

      The "beauty" of shared income.

      • +3

I never understood the dynamics of this. Had a high-profile colleague that was pretty well known & respected in the software dev community (companies would literally fight over hiring him). Still remember the day he pre-ordered a ps4 at work a few years back and was genuinely nervous to go home and tell his wife about it.

        • +1

I never understood it the other way around tbh… You live in a partnership, you presumably have some shared goals in life, maybe saving up to buy a house or going on holidays, kids braces - whatever. It's only natural that you consult each other on the more expensive, frivolous purchases isn't it?
If he has to go begging before the fact, that's one thing and not at all how it's supposed to work, but I'd suggest that's not the case here or they wouldn't have put in the order.
It's about the fact that you just spent a fair chunk of most anyone's monthly budget without talking it over first - I'd be nervous too. The apprehension wouldn't be about the money for me though, it'd be about the not talking about it before making a decision with such big potential impacts.

          • @nebakke: A lot of Amateur's don't get the full picture . If you have a partner that doesn't respect buying something way below market price I'd dump him/her . If not flipped it can be a big favour to family or friends at cost ;) It really is a no brainer buy in current market conditions .

            • @popsiee: Only if you have the money to spare - now what, if she happened to spot that TV on a special bargain too, saved you a grand by getting it for 1500, only you did so at the same time and now the account is out over two grand on where it should be. Sure you can turn one or the other around, but it's gonna take a bit of time till the money comes back and in the meantime school fees are due.
Especially for an online bargain where even for this sort of panic buying, it could sit in the basket for 10 minutes and still be yours - that's plenty of time to at least try to slam in a phone call and go "HEY! GUESS WHAT!" - sure she might not answer but you put in the effort.

          • +1

@nebakke: I guess my experience has been, that some of my partners have looked down upon gaming. It's still associated for many 30+ people as a childs activity. They would honestly prefer i watch non-sense on netflix than play games. It doesnt make sense, but the prejudice is deep with some people.

My wife, always suddenly finds tasks to do the second i sit down to play a game. I dont play much (or really at all) at moment since we have a newborn, but i dont even think it was always conscious on her behalf.

            • @modiika: Yeah, that's a fair point, though I'd suggest that the problem there is not the discussion about the money, it's the the discussion about respecting each other's space and past-time activities - that's quite different.
The realities of life is that you get less time for gaming as you grow older and have children etc. from the other end of the line, I can tell you though, that the time comes back and if you do it right in the meantime, you get to have someone to play with as the child grows too.
My wife does game from time-to-time, though it's not hobby as much as an occasional past-time thing for her, difference being that I started making a point of setting some gaming time aside for myself and letting her know that that was what I was planning to do - made it a lot easier to schedule all the other things that also need to be done around the house too FWIW :)

          • @nebakke: Yup, makes sense if you have kids or are saving up for something together and the extra purchase would interfere with you saving up your fair share of funds for said joint expenses.

However this didn't apply to said colleague and he did bring up that he may buy it advance, it was mostly that his wife deemed playing games were a waste of time, so the purchase was unnecessary. She was out of work at the time, but even then it was still a tiny fraction of his pay.

A fair few people I know are in relationships like this, and this doesn't just apply to gaming.

            • @[Deactivated]: Yeah, that's just toxic for sure then and you're right, that's not a way to live. A partnership is supposed to be of equals, that includes respecting each other's interests and past-times. I share a bunch of interests with my wife but I also have a bunch of interests that she's not even remotely interested in - and vice-versa - so we try to schedule as best we can so that we can look after our individual bits at the same time and do the shared things together, it only makes sense in my head :)

The worst thing in the world is someone deliberately trying to change you - I mean, why are they with you in the first place if they want you to be someone else?

      • Exactly. It's stories like that, that make me glad I'm single.

        • You don't even need to be single. Just don't pool your income together and instead split bills 50/50 from a shared account specifically for shared expenses. Pooling your income together is so archaic.

    • Best excuse is you won it on a $2 raffle 😉

  • OOS

    thanks op got 1!

Damn missed out, how do you find them as soon as they're posted, is there a twitter or something?

    • +1
      • Is there any alert page for Xbox Series X?because I have a PS5 & have been looking for a Series X & keep missing the posts..

        • +1

This is coming from someone who has both. Xbox doesn't have any big exclusives untill late this year with Halo Infinite & Starfield (New IP from TES devs), so not really much reason to own both just yet, they should be readily in stock for this holiday season.

    • +1

I followed @ps5stockcomau and managed to get one from Harvey Norman a few days ago.

He seemed to be a few mins faster than press start

Thank fk for ozbargain, amazon never even notified me.

      • +4

        Don't settle for the Digital.
Remember its going to be the console for at least 5 years
There will be loads of stock of both coming very soon.

      • +9

        Enjoy your $120 games

        • +1

I’m signed up to ps plus, it’s $35 for a year of the US version. I’ve already got more games than I can play.

    • Gone now! Lasted 6 minutes

      • What exactly are you talking about? 😜

        • That’s tricky!!

  • +2

Daughter pre ordered her PS5 from either JB Hi Fi or EB Games (I can't remember) and she was supposed to get it late december and she is still waiting

    • Sounds like she probably ordered from EB Games. I ordered mine from them back on the 18th September and I'm still waiting…. I have asked them for updates and even tried calling their head office, but they can't give me any updates or time frames. Extremely frustrating! In the meantime I have seen people pre-ordering in Feb from other retailers and getting their PS5 a week later.

  • +3

I'm pretty much at the stage of just figuring I'll wait for the refined version (or even a "Pro" version that's inevitably coming) because at this point, it's just silly. And it's not like I don't have a giant pile of shame on the PS4 Pro to be getting on with :D

  • +3

At this stage, scalping is pretty much over.

People have trouble selling these for $850 on facebook lol

    • +8

      Good

    • +4

its not even worth to sell it for $850, you let a stranger to come to your house and pick it up, there is risk they might just take your ps 5 and run away. I heard it happen

    • ebay sold listings still have them selling for $1100. I suspect the facebook marketplace is just a new wave of listings all at once.

    • Lol no, they're still easily selling for $950+

It's not over until you can find stock 24/7

    • Good riddens. Everyone's probably moved on to scalping graphics cards with them being more rare now after bitcoin going up.

  • +2

Still waiting for my call from the jokers at EB Games

    • Me too! I ordered mine back on the 18th September and I'm still waiting…. I have asked them for updates and even tried calling their head office, but nothing.

      • A lot of people on here have given up waiting and cancelled their eb orders after getting one from these drops.
They have been the worst as far as preorders go.

        • That doesn't surprise me. I have been trying to do the same thing, but always miss out.

  • lots of these popping up on gumtree for $950-1250 now .. have people stopped buying them from scalpers? or what

    • You think everyone that wanted them got them ?
Scalpers should get easy $200 + profit or if more knowledge feed some countries that are desperate for them :)

  • +5

I know this may not mean much, but it's honestly not worth buying one at the moment. There's hardly any games for the PS5.

    Ignore the FOMO!

    • +1

It's actually not a bad idea if you have PS4 Pro (and would sell your PS4/PS4 Pro). PS Plus Collection and general quality of life improvement (SSD, less noise, UHD-Blu-ray playback support, USB 3.1 gen 2 support). For PS4 games with 60fps support on PS5, they are still more pleasant to play.

    • It's actually a good time if you're upgrading from a regular ps4 since you can sell your old console for a pretty good price right now. (Though would have been better a few months ago when ps4s were out of stock stock at most retailers and selling for higher online before Christmas)

Don’t get the hype, what’s the killer app? The hard drive is way too small as well. Wouldn’t mind playing Spider-Man but I think I’ll wait for Ratchet or GT7.

I got the series x and ended up getting the sea gate hard drive upgrade. Still not much worth playing on it.

    Back to PC for me…!

  • omg just have some patience

  • +2

One day I'll be on time… One day.

  • +1

Daughter finally got a phone call from EB games yesterday that her pre order for there disc version of the PS5 finally arrived for her to pick up
