  • Are the Hash Browns better at Hungry Jacks?

    • +2

Only if you've had hash brownies before

      • -6

        Not since Woodstock

  • +20

finally back to an acceptable price

    • +4

Yeah this is what they're worth more than a bargain tbh

  • +6

Small sample size, but I've never gotten a good (crispy) hashbrown from HJ's.

but I've never gotten a good (crispy) hashbrown from HJ's.

Ask for the ones baked the day before…

    • Sample size just doubled!

    • +6

The hashbrowns I get from Hungre Jacks are on average crispier/tastier than maccas I reckon (and slightly bigger I think)

      • +1

Yeah I'm very unimpressed with Maccas hashbrowns too.

    Thanks for your effort.

Top effort! a true blue ozbargainer

    • Yep, OP is setting a new standard for future posts

Imagine working at HJs and receiving a call from TA himself

    • +38

      "Are your hash browns $1?"
      "They are now Sir"

    • +17

      "are they $1?"
"Yes. And would you like cashback with that?"

    • +3

      “Are your hash browns $1?”
“Yes. What else would you like at a discount?”

    • +1

      "Are your hashbrowns $1?"
      "This is a laundromat"

  • +3

    Nice
My wife orders vegan burgers and replaces the patty with hash brown.
    Much more reasonable now

    • +1

If you replacing the meat anyway. Couldn't your wife order a normal burger and replace the meat with hashbrown?

      • +2

        That's what I meant

I said she makes them because they won't put the hash brown on for her

      • Pretty sure HJ's mayo are not vegan since it has egg?

        • Yup, but they have a vegan mayo replacement if you ask for it. Default mayo on the rebel (meat free) burger is non vegan though. Same with the cheese.

    • Buble and squash or something is where its at

    • Hang on, isn't the burger technically non vegan since the meat has touched the rest?

      • You can order them without meat

  • Don't seem to be available for ordering in their app? I guess hash browns are at breakfast time only if ordering in the app?

    • Doubts over whether this is available all day. HJs have never served hash browns all day before.

      • They used to serve $1 hash browns all day about 2-3 years ago. Then they changed it to being available for brekky only (for $1) then somewhere down the track they became $2 or $2.x

      • +1

Its not on the lunch menu but they are available all day, anyone who refuses to sell it is simply too lazy to go to the freezer and cook one for you.

'Hungry Jacks, Geelong, Rebecca speaking' 'Hi Rebecca, this is tightarse calling, you know those delicious hash browns you cook? Well, anyway I just spoke to your Newcastle store and they said that…..etc'

You rock TA, always have, always will.

Speaking of which, McDonalds keeps sending me single-use offers for a $1.50 hash brown, with the occasional extra-special offer for a $1 hash brown or two hash browns for $2. Their standard price for a hash brown without any deal is $1. (Locally at least.)

    • +4

Must be a store/franchise specific promo offer. The standard price is anywhere from $2.20 - $2.65

    • +1

My local was $1 for forever, then one day it went up to $2. Around my area it ranges from $2 to $2.2 now

Coles 16 hash browns for $3

    • +8

I put them in a flat sandwitch press for 5 to 10 mins and they always come out perfect and crunchy.

McCain actually mentions 3.5 mins in a sandwitch press - https://mccainfoodservice.com.au/product/our-original-choice…

      • +4

        Mind blown.

        • Sandwitch = dark magic = mind blown indeed

I didn't expect to be getting food preparation advice when browsing ozbargain but I just bought some and gave this a try.
Works a treat, nice and crispy. Thanks for the tip :)

    • I like the Aldi ones cooked in butter.$2.69 a pack. With sausages bacon and eggs as well.

  • Looks like this is back to $2 on the app
