  • What makes this worth twice as much as a woolies one?
I expected the description to talk about high grade beef or something but nope.

    • I expected to be able to order it, or know how much delivery was, but, alas.

I've been to their restaurant a couple of times (400 Gradi).

It's okay, very expensive for what you get. They go for the more authentic italian feel, but charge twice the price for it.

IMO if the restaurants are anything to go by then I don't think the lasagna is really worth it

    • I haven't had their pasta. The pizza though is very good - though I'd avoid using uber eats, by the time it gets to you it's a bit meh. In restaurant, the food is excellent. They're my favourite pizza place in Melb with DOC a close 2nd.

As others have said, it's italian style - so very thin base/crust (best I've had, and I don't usually love crust). 400 gradi / 90 secondi means 90 seconds @ 400 celcius, which is how they cook the pizza.

I haven't tried their pasta, but think of the question as "what's the difference between McD burgers and <gourmet place>?". I like both. I strongly prefer 400 gradi.

          Ingredients
          Bolognese (Tomato Pulp (Tomato) 33.3%,
Italian Peeled Tomatoes (Whole Peeled Tomatoes, Tomato Juice, Acidity Regulator: Citric Acid.) 30%,
          Beef Mince 16.6%, Water,
Carrot, Onion, Celery, Cooking Salt, Extra Virgin Olive Oil, Rosemary, Black Pepper & Bay Leaves) 71.42%

That's over 150% of the content so far…

          • +3

            @jv: so really only 71.42% x 16.6% = 11.85% beef

            • @j4ice: That's disappointing, even a woolies one is 9.24% beef. Coles one is 12.81%.

400 Gradi used to be the the bomb, but last time I went there it was pretty meh. If I'm in Brunswick it's usually a lot cheaper just to head to Etto.

i was expected less than 1% beeeeeeef

  • Huge fan of the Costco lasagna, Rustica I think the name is. I wonder how this compares?

Pita to make on your own I think.

lasagne is not that hard at all…make meat sauce, make bechamel, layer in tray…then bake
if you can make a decent spag bol then you can make a lasagne

amen to that! I learned how to make lasagna from a nun when i was in elementary school, and its become a special dish in the family.

It always tastes better the next day.

And I'll never be satisfied with the tray I use to make lasagna….

Spaghetti always tastes better the next day to me too.

Ok, I'll give the wife an ultimatum. You've inspired me.

From experience - this is not great at all (if its the same as what you get on Uber Eats). Would not buy again or recommend.

  • Ate at the Essendon restaurant last week, delicious pizza and pasta.

I think this would be nice.
also the amount of beef mince seems normal.
A lasagne has a lot of cheese and béchamel sauce and obviously made with a lot of passata etc.

I might grab one to see.

    EDIT: plus the actual pasta!
