    • Or maybe they have scheduled scaled up their infrastructure already. Cloudy…. you know.

  • Fairly easy for this! And no crashes.

  • Easy.

  • Also no issues, very smooth

  • Surprised it took me a min to fill in all the details.

  • Got one; too easy.
Didn't take the promised 6 minutes to complete.

    I got Allocation Exhausted

  • easy as done!

  • Is it still working?

    Mine says 'ALLOCATION EXHAUSTED'.

    Hmm.

    • Same, must ran out. That was quick

    • Expired now.

  • Got an email confirmation. Looks like this may be a 2 step process. Not sure if registration guarantees a voucher.

Your final payment will be subject to an eligibility check. You must have evidence that you are over the age of 18 and a Victorian resident to access payment.

You will also need to present evidence that you:

Stayed in metropolitan Melbourne for at least two nights in paid accommodation between 19 March and 16 May 2021
Spent at least $400 on a combination of accommodation, tours and attraction entry fees during your stay, noting that a portion of this expenditure must be spent on accommodation
You can redeem your voucher between 26 April and 30 May 2021.

We will be in touch within 10 business days to confirm your eligibility; and in the week commencing 26 April 2021 with instructions on how to submit your claim.

  • Sold out in 5 minutes

  • 10:04AM - all gone

  • With this voucher, does this mean staying during Easter (say 2nd and 3rd April ) would be covered as well? Could not find any specific denial about this period. So assuming yes?

      Eligible travel period
      19 March 2021 to 16 May 2021

  • I got mine easily enough.

Hopefully this time i can actually find accommodation available, unlike the first batch…

  • Tks lachlan1 you saved me and are my hero .

    • no worries - maybe set reminder using the reminder button under the report button for next time.

Got one (just after 10am), thanks OP!

  • Pretty surprising that it's gone so fast

  • Oh wow, that went quickly. Looks like I saved at least $200

  • thanks got one :)

  • I only just noticed it excludes the Dandenongs and Mornington peninsula.. 😳

    Doubt I'll use it now…

    • +1

I think Dandenong best attraction you can hire via Airbnb a house in Apex st :)

      • +2

'The Dandenongs' are not it 'Dandenong'…

    • Maybe you can find somewhere to stay in the Basin, which is a suburb of Knox.

  • Does anyone know if you can claim the next regional one, if you got the first round but did not use it…

  • Just with the wording can anyone clear this up for me… does the accomodation itself have to total $400… or can the accom for two nights be say $300 total and then $100 tickets on a theatre show to make up the $400? Just a bit confused on the "plus" wording - I'd like to stay in a cheaper place and put the voucher toward a show if possible.

    • Total of accom and tickets needs to be at least $400. Accom needs to be 2 consecutive nights,

    • does the accomodation itself have to total $400…

      no

    • The accommodation can be $30 for two nights in a dorm, and the rest on show tickets/hot air balloon ride etc.

      • Hoping to do this and spend the rest going to art galleries and attractions during that time period.

    • Looks like they've now updated their FAQs and have clarified the theatre situation:
      https://www.vic.gov.au/melbourne-travel-voucher-scheme-faqs#…

Can the voucher be used at a theatre?
No, theatres do not qualify under the Eligible expense categories of paid accommodation, paid tours and experiences, and entry fees to Melbourne attractions (unless included as part of a tour package).

  • Out of the 40k vouchers, I wonder how many will actually get used.

    • +1

Have a feeling they can recycle the program for a couple of years until they actually exhaust the entire budget.

  • +1

    Did not get.

registrations for another 50,000 vouchers for REGIONAL travel will open on 30th March

      • Is this open only for first time registration?

      • Travel dates start a day after Easter

  • Wondering if it will work for buying theatre tickets? The eligibility criteria isn't very clear on it… would it be classified as an "experience or entry fees to attraction".

    • yes, as long as you also spend at least 2 nights in paid accomodation.

      • Cool so the dude can buy 2 nights shared accommodation in a hostel and spend $300 + on movie tickets :)

        • and spend $300 + on movie tickets

Movie tickets do not appear to be eligible…

    • called them, they said theatre tickets not eligible?

    Why is Frankston excluded?

    • +3

      Not part of Victoria

    • I believe it was covered as part of the Regional scheme, a few areas too if I remember correctly.. Dandenong Ranges, Yarra Valley

      • -2

I believe it was covered as part of the Regional scheme

        Frankston isn't Regional Victoria though.

        • +1

.. that's alright, nothing to see in Frankston anyway. Would not have made much of a diff if people could 'double dip', lol

  • -1

Seriously no wonder the occupancy rate is below 35% in Melbourne with prior to this voucher jacking the prices they are still expecting .

  • I must admit. It was very quick to apply

  • Wonder if it will work for buying Melbourne Zoo annual pass?

    • Did you work this one out?

  • Too easy surprisingly.

  • I managed to get one and should receive email confirmation within ten days.
Can I book the accommodation now and theatre tickets for the eligible dates?

    • +1

The website said something like "…if you are confident you are eligible…" you can book before you get the confo.

    • -1

Yea I'd say so. I think the additional step is to weed out potential bots/fraud etc
The entire process is pretty archaic really. VIC still doesn't have a half decent services vic app. 10 years behind nsw.

  • So you have to have an accommodation booked for 2 nights? Or can you spend all 400$ on attractions?

    • Did you read any of the above information?

  • Curious, how many people got a voucher actually have plans on using it, or did you apply as a just in case?

I wonder how many of the 40k vouchers the vic gov will actually have to pay out on…

The SA one I got and wasted . They were generous letting the whole of Australia apply :)
This one I'd say 1 in 3 wastage is my best guess. I have no doubt the government is aware of some figure .
Hopefully a 20% off gift card is ok for this program to apply correctly for the rebate . No clue if it works at this stage .

  • Can anyone confirm whether theatre tix are included as part of the expense? Can't see it mentioned (it's not a "tour" or attraction perhaps?). Hoping to include the Harry Potter ticket in the $400.

    • I'm loaded with 50% off Ticketmaster gift cards if anything works in there .

  • just booked 2 nights in crown metropol for $428 during school holiday in April so am I eligible right? do I need to book tours as well?

    • And I booked Crown Towers only.

  • can I just spend $400 in attractions without accommodations?

    • No .Cheapest way( and compulsory ) is to put in 2 nights of back packers lodging for $28 per night and you will be right .

  • Just wondering if I can use groupon to book for the activities. Is it still counted toward this $400 spending?

  • To get upto to the minimum $400 spend, can I book two lots of accomodation (2 night each totalling 4 nights)?

I'm thinking of staying 2 nights in one hotel - around $220 spend and another 2 nights in another hotel for another $180 totalling $400.

Does the $400 spend on accomodation need to come from one hotel booking only?

    • +1

      From the T&Cs;

Can I spend my voucher on two separate accommodation and activity charges in two separate LGAs?
Yes, if the minimum two nights paid accommodation is in an eligible metropolitan Melbourne local government area and relevant receipts are provided, you can spend money across multiple locations.

What can the vouchers be spent on?
To be eligible for redemption, the following criteria must be met:

Recipients must stay a minimum of 2 nights’ paid accommodation in greater Melbourne.

  • Would Expedia bookings with a discount code be ok? The booking would be over $400 after the discount code.

The hotel won't issue the invoice so the Expedia confirmation would have to do.

    • -1

Unlikely. You'll probably need to buy an admission to something.

    • I think it should work as long as it is a tax invoice? With ABN etc? Not sure though.

  • +1

Anyone got the eligibility confirmation? Today is the 10th business day.

    • Just received a confirmation as of 30 mins ago stating "Confirmed successful registration for the Melbourne Travel Voucher Scheme".

    • Yep, got mine about 30 minutes ago too.

  • Does the $400 spend need to include a combination of accommodation, plus experiences, tours or attraction or can it be on accommodation only?

    • +1

      can be accom only

  • +1

This should really answer 99.9% of the questions here https://www.vic.gov.au/melbourne-travel-voucher-scheme-faqs

    • Yes, agree. They did a great job the state government.

Must rather this approach than funneling our money through businesses who then keep the money like the job keeper scandal.

The Morrison government and the Liberals are much better at harrassing women and taking part in rorts/dodgy dealings than helping the public.
