I have a genuine question. Why would one game on a laptop when you can get on desktop. I'm asking because all these gaming laptop deals are tempting.
Sometimes I game in my room, or i'll go downstairs cause my room can become a sauna during the summer. Still have a couple
mates that I can play on LAN with.

but performance isn't the same.. you pay more, get less and typically laptops die a quicker death (also less or nearly no upgradability), all for the sake of portability.
As someone who travels a lot (I am on Work and Holiday Visa), having a laptop is easier for me to carry than a desktop. I am not a hardcore gamer, most of the time I just play Overwatch, LoL, and some AAA games that can be run on at least a high setting under a GTX 1660Ti.
If you have a fixed place to live, I'd say having a desktop is better because in general, you can get a more powerful machine at the same price as a laptop.
I often work in remote areas. Having a laptop means I can take everything with me! Obviously you pay for the convenience in some way, whether it be less performance for the same price as a desktop, or the same performance as a desktop will cost you much more.
Why not? You can hook a laptop up to an external monitor, use the laptop screen as a 2nd screen, and of course plug in a mouse and keyboard. Should the need arise, you can simply unplug it, slide it into your backpack and you're good to go. Obviously not great for PC gaming enthusiasts, but it just kind of makes sense for anyone that just wants something that can play games.

Genuine question. I am been off from computer' market for a while and have no idea with how the generation is going on. I see lot of confusing numbers as in processor wise, graphic card wise. I am getting a laptop which i want to game too and mostly light university works. I kinda want to be future proof. I did a bit of search and some youtube videos and decided on this one. Can someone from experience please comment how will this held up?

You're never going to bring anything above 14inches into uni unless you want to label yourself as a half wit that lugs around kilo's of power plug fed portable desktop in an attempt to procr cough study.
