PPLUSFLASH

First post, haven't seen this listed in a while, only other one seems to be for $1799?

Looks like today only it's down to 1529.15 inc delivery with eBay Plus

Have only seen one review so far (on another ebay listing?) mentioning they are getting 60-100fps on Cyberpunk 2077 with med-high settings. They also mention it's not a good choice for school though as battery life isn't great.

Same as I thought. No good on the temperature. two 5v fan is definitely not enough. Why would such product even exist.

    Worth noting, no thunderbolt

with how crazy powerful the AMD series of CPU are, there's no reason to go intel except to have thunderbolt….and it's not included in this one. May as well get a comparable AMD machine and have better thermals or more power under the hood, given that you don't get thunderbolt anyway!

It is a good price if you want RTX3060.
This is the lowest it has been for RTX3060 laptops.

    • I'm curious as to what you would be using thunderbolt for? Is this something the average user/gamer would want? I'd just be plugging in 3 monitors via display port & HDMI tbh. I don't think I actually have anything that uses a thunderbolt port - but also, isn't thunderbolt and mini-display the same thing? or is it just that the plugs are the same and some cables are interchangeable?

      • Thunderbolt supports 40gbps via the USB C port. Non-thunderbolt supports 10gbps. So if you have really high resolution and refresh rate monitors, or even dual 4k 60Hz monitors off of the single port, they can be supported through the one Thunderbolt port. Another application is eGPU's, which can be connected to laptops without an in-built graphics card.

        More info here: https://www.digitaltrends.com/computing/what-is-thunderbolt/

        • and to further elaborate, thunderbolt is 4x PCIe lanes straight into the CPU bridge. So whatever devices you can plug in to utilise these 4 lanes could potentially use thunderbolt. It's like being able to expand or upgrade your desktop computer but for laptops!

It's all fun and games to plug in 3 monitors via display port, until you start getting to 4k and 8k. are you sure that the USBC plugs support displayport? The MSI website doesn't cover which versions of the protocol are supported. The HDMI port is definitely not 2.0 as it covers only 30HZ @ 4K resolutions. You also won't know if the USBc ports will support display port from both at the same time! That's not to say you can't convert the USBC ports into displayports, now do you need an active adaptor, or a passive one? The passive one works if you already have displayport enabled on the socket, but you'll need an active one if it doesn't. Chances are (and i have no proof so i'm just guessing), it will support DP on one port at any one time and the second port you will need an active adaptor to change from USBC to DP

Isn't this all so fun already? These wouldn't even be something to consider if you simply had thunderbolt in the laptop!

  • Good price, i5/2060 laptops with similar price have been posted here recently

    • It's possible if they were posted for 1799 that they would be the same price as this with the eBay Plus deal today.

      • This offer just for today?

  • Or you can get 10% off this beauty:

rip off - sometimes I do wonder why they waste the time.

    • bahahha 1650ti for $6k

    • +1

      hahahahahah , i can't stop laughing mate………..rofl

6100$ for a laptop with 1650 Ti , wow such a bargain…..whoever put this price should be sent to a mental facility for rehabilitation immediately with no early release!!!!!!

    • I feel sorry for the person who will buy this…

    • It looks like if you went to the Dell site and maxed out all the (overpriced) upgrade options
Core i9, 2TB SSD, 64GB RAM, UHD+ Display. Best GPU for XPS 15 is 1650 Ti so it makes a really unbalanced laptop

    • 3 have sold according to the purchase history
They're spread out so they might have sold during Dell's 20% off sales but would still cap at $1k discount

  • Max q. Wonder what how many watts the GPU is

    • I believe this one is meant to be 90-115w but can't find where I read this now that i'm trying to hah.

  • Is this laptop good enough for autocad or there are better alternatives?

    • +1

this will knock the pants off of Autocad - just note the battery life. If you're taking this to school/classes i think it only gets like 90-120 minutes but I haven't confirmed this.. just read that the battery life aint great.

      • 51Wh battery, not going to last long with these specs.

        • Yeah definitely not good battery life. Good for moving from home-dock to office-dock though maybe.

I'm wondering how long until we start to see laptop bags with small 20AH LiFePO4 battery banks with a 240v inverter O.o

I think I might just make one now that I think about it.. the bag I have already has a USB output, could probably use the same weatherproof opening hah.

  • How does the power of graphics card compare against the one in Xbox series x? I did a bit of research and found that this one has about 11 TFlops and XBox 12 TFlops. Am I comparing apples to apples?

    • +2

they are pretty similar, you will get a better gaming experience from a game console playing games designed specifically for it's architecture though

    • I believe they have similar performance.

    • Correct me if I'm wrong but I don't think this is tailored for 4k gaming at all, more like 1080p 60hz for current gen games without raytracing, this will perform nowhere near as good as an xbox series x

      • I would think so as the graphics ram is less.

      • Read actual reviews of games on the XSX though, throw raytracing and 4k at it and it starts doing all sorts of weird and wonderful downscaling of res on certain textures etc etc, meaning it's no longer "really" 4k. All very smart and it looks great but in terms of raw power it's definitely beatable by PCs until they release a bunch of super optimised games

      • +2

you can just tweak game settings to get the same performance as xbox

hardware isnt magic, xbox is just using downscaling and tweaking some visuals to get its performance

  • Another review here:
    https://www.notebookcheck.net/MSI-GF65-Thin-10UE-Laptop-Revi…

Missed out but would not have gone ahead. Way too many compromises.
Screen has 55.8% srgb, 35.6% AdobeRGB
    Slower than average 3060
    Not great thermals.
Limits on port usage for USB-C.
    Flimsy flexy case.
    No numpad.
