It used to cost more just to repair a TV!

    • +2

I expect it still does, but of questionable value unless you’ve got a particularly high-end model. Terribly wasteful, but that’s the reality.

    • +8

      Catalogue will be available tomorrow.

    • To be fair, if I could currently justify $3500 on a TV, I'd be getting the CX 😂

      • +4

$3150 can buy so many happy meals.

      • I’d rather the tcl 8k 75” for that sort of money

  • +1

Is this a Smart TV? No mention of any Apps built in?

    • +12

If it isn't, Chromecast with Google TV is a pretty good add-on.

      • For less than $50 probably.

        • For 4k you'd want Chromecast Ultra which is like $80

          • @SoManySpiderWebs: Chromecast with Google TV is equivalent to Chromecast Ultra. It does 4K @ 60 fps HDR.

          • +2

@SoManySpiderWebs: I actually finally encountered some actual 4K content to try on my chromecast ultra recently, and discovered it makes the chromecast overheat and shut down. Had to switch to an old chromecast to be able to actually watch it.

Th 4k was nice for the 10 minutes until it overheated.

      • Even more so as you don’t know how long software updates would be available for this TV.

    • This is a good question

    • +4

It's not, and it's a good thing IMHO.

Smart features or android built in are as clunky AF on budget TVs. The horrible remotes make it even less usable.

Much better adding a decent box later.

  • Refresh rate?

    • +16

      yes

      • +2

        Actually not too sure…
Might have to double check if there is…

    • +3

      60Hz

  • Where, when and how do you buy it?

    • +16

Good question. Winning a Lotto has more probability than getting hold of aldi special buys.

      • So is this going to be instore in 11 days?

        • +2

          Hope so.

        • Your local store stock will vary on the day.

That still won't stop many people lining up from 7:30 AM in order to score a bargain, only to be disappointed with stock not arriving on the day.

Been there. Done that. Never again.

  • +1

Decent enough especially for the price but beyond accepting the signal its more like "with" "HDR"

  • uhhh..what's the catch?

    that's damn cheap

    • +15

The catch is that you gotta line up early in the morning, race your way to the Isle, push comes to shove, then you end up on YouTube/news.

      • +31

push comes to shove, then you end up on YouTube/news.

Then you can watch yourself on your new TV.

      • Good thing you can wear a mask and Noone thinks twice now.

The trail of bodies will keep the cameras from getting too close.

        • +2

The trail of bodies will keep the cameras from getting too close.

A loud sneeze or strategically timed coughing fit will have the reporters running for cover.

    • +3

its a 60hz tv with bad black levels, but it's not bad for the price i guess

  • 70 inch aldi out soon running LG website…

  • Might see if I can pick up a couple of these to replace my 50" plasmas.

Anyone have any idea if these are likely to have non reflective screens? My plasmas both have glossy screens and the glare on them in the afternoons makes them almost unwatchable.

    • Plasmas had 2 panes of glass while LCDs don't, with higher end units having anti reflective layers which absorb / diffuse light.

    • +3

Depending on your plasmas, this TV might be a downgrade.

  • +2

0 smart media streaming ability so either Samsung dex, Android box or Amazon HD stick

Sounds going to suck but a 100-200 soundbar will remedy that but it all adds up to $600+

Now the 75” EKO @bigW is $999 now and it’s just better all around and 1 remote is all you need!

    • Now the 75” EKO @bigW is $999 now and it’s just better all around and 1 remote is all you need!

If you can even find them now…

58" Linsar for $384 @ TGG if you can find one

    https://www.thegoodguys.com.au/linsar-58-inches-4k-uhd-hdr-s…

  • If only it had android tv built in,what a great price.

  • +1

Idk why ppl are concerned about it not being smart, I've always either run Intel NUCs or gaming consoles depending on what I needed.

    • +1

Yes the Xbox one does every app I need including Kodi even plays files over 4gig unlike my Vodafone TV.

    • If they aren't your main tv it means you need to buy something extra to make them smart plus an all in one is easier for kids to use. The EKO 42" at BigW is a good little package although only HD.

      • Buying something extra to make them smart allows you to buy a cheaper TV and periodically upgrade the smarts with new and better tech, giving you the best of both worlds and a TV that punches above its weight for far longer than it would normally.

        • True. Most mobiles can be made to output hdmi to a tv. Even better is if you have unlimited data and that’s also your internet.

Saving every cent you can is the ozb way!

        • In my situation this is for a 5yr old kid so simplicity is the key here. The way TV's are getting cheaper I would likely swap out the tv in a few years for something better.

      • Haha yeah idk why ppl bother with FullHD sets anymore.

  • What are OzBargain's thoughts on the sound bar?
New to this - keen to know what I should be looking at for the similar price points?

  • +3

Which lucky state is getting the two TVs ALDI ordered for this nation?

Everyone will be leaving the stores with $30 of random junk they acquired when seeking this mythical deal 🤣

  • Is this good for 4K console gaming PS4/5??

    Quality overall?

Is this the cheapest price so far?

    • +1

No its not, its a tv for a bedroom or kids room. This is absolutely bottom of the barrel.

  • why is no one concerned about the warranty its probably 1 year warranty and after thats a big mistake in my opinion i would rather buy a hisense tv around 600$ish and it comes with 5 year warranty option with a little extra and they do on site repair aswell

    • Brought a Viano with 1 year warranty. Died 16 months later. Never again

      • thats what i mean whats the point if its just gonna die after the warranty

  • Any stock lads

  • They don't have it at Sydney Broadway but they have two 70" UHD for $799

    • Employee said they didn't receive it today but could try tomorrow 🤞

      • Did they come today?

  • Just picked up one from Vermont South, VIC about 1 hour ago. There were 5 left.
    Enjoy!

    • How are people finding the picture quality

  • FYI Aldi have this listed as delayed in ACT and NSW, which may explain why there were none in store in the NSW Aldi stores in Sydney and Newcastle I tried.
    https://www.aldi.com.au/en/special-buys/special-buystm-produ…

    • Do u know when they’ll come by?

      • No idea, unfortunately. The Aldi staff said "days or weeks"

        • Still nothing bro. It’s actually BS how all the states around us miraculously have stock and its delayed for us only. HoW?

  • I think stock has come in to NSW. I just picked one up from Quakers Hill NSW, but could not see stock out.

    • How many TVs where there left

      • I could not see any on the floor, and forgot to ask sorry. You may want to check with your local store.

        • Nothing in SOUTH west sydney

  • 2 available on the floor at rouse hill NSW

  • +1

Anyone who got one can vouch for picture/ sound quality?

    • +1

I'll let you know once/if I get my hands on one

  • +1

Received a phone call from Aldi to say they have come in locally. Keen to hear how people have found the TV before I pick one up.

    • So they reached Orange but still MIA in CBD

  • +3

Found a small review on the TV here: https://forums.whirlpool.net.au/archive/3z88kqw3

    • Cheers that’s very helpful mate👍

  • Saw plenty of them at Auburn store yesterday if someone is interested.

  • Anyone that purchased have any initial thoughts?
