      Direct Import / International Version

This is an international model. Compared to the Aus model, this one has a smaller bin for reference.

It's 540ml compared to the 40% larger 740ml in the Australian unit. Not sure if that matters to you, but worth keeping in mind.

Fair point, but I'd be more worried about warranty, not sure if Dyson does international warranty but dealing with Kogan for grey import warranty is a nightmare.

For reference, dyson offers warranty in all countries that it either operates directly, or has an authorised third party distributor in. The difficult thing can be that you generally want to register it with dyson in the country that it was from, which in some regions is harder than others.

If I were you, I'd probably wait until dyson has their next special on the Aus model v10 motorhead like this "https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/605605" and pay the extra $100. The extra capacity is worth the money for anything larger than a 2br apartment, otherwise you'll be emptying all the time.

@Anthropomorphised: Yeah good call out here, you would be covered for warranty under Australian consumer law, so you’d be fine.

            • @wouldyou: As far as I know, internationally purchased items are not covered for warranty under Australian consumer law? Generally, it's accepted the item would need to go back to the country of origin for a warranty… If Dyson does cover it locally that would be there own prerogative but Australia as far as I know can't force a company to honour warranty locally when purchased overseas as warranty structures, local costs..etc.. is very very different between countries and Dyson Australia has not got the money for that purchase so why should they pick up the cost of servicing it…

              • @Jonc: Kogan would be required to provide the repair etc. under Aus Consumer Law.

                • @wouldyou: Agree Kogan being an Australian company will need to comply with Australian law, but I suspect Dyson would not in such a case.

Eg, if Kogan disappears or changes the structure (Eg, base themself out of Australia) then your Australian protections might go with it possibly?

What made me think of this a few years back is when buying a Samsung mobile from them I noticed the invoice I got was from Kogan Singapore or something like that. So I'm not sure legally how that would work with Consumer law given my invoice was not from an Australian company technically or if they still do this even?

Having said all that, I've not purchased allot from Kogan and the items I have had issues with have been small little items and their warranty process worked and I had no issues with at all which is at least good to see ;-)

          • @Anthropomorphised: Is it compatible with the big bin for $30 from Dyson?

Got mine for $800 around black friday a couple of years ago. It's still going strong and would recommend this to anyone looking for a good stick vac.

    • No idea but good find if it is compatible. I’d call dyson and check

    • the central tube is shorter on this unit, as is the bin on this one. you can call but I'd doubt it

  • Now coming up as $680.93

    • They’ve increased the price
