  • Mine keeps on dropping network connection every few days, none of the other Xiaomi products I have ever do that.

    • rly ?! I have yeelight light strips and never had this issue..

      • might have to claim warranty then, could be a defective unit.

      • I have 3 of them.
Never had any issues with connectivity.

  • My Yeelight app has been offline and not able to connect to my Yeelights. Not sure if it affects other Yeelight products.

    • strange - my app is fine. never have these issues..

I just link to google home and control via that mainly

  • What's the example of usage of this thing?

  • I can't work this out. Post seems to indicate it's a RGB model but the link is "white" and isn't clear about RGB. This link price matches $60-70 prices from elsewhere?

    • I dont think yeelight makes only white version.. I believe it is referring to the physical colour of the product. in the product description it says RGB..

      • There is a tunable white Xiaomi Yeelight light strip on AliExpress with the English name "Willow" it's bloody excellent.
I have a 30m around my back verandah and 5m around my living room curtains.

        • :0

can you link me the product please?

I cant seem to find it

          • @skido: @skido: Just a random seller.
They all show an image similar to this one
            https://a.aliexpress.com/_msBW47Z

            • @ESEMCE: thanks for that. fingers crossed it is not white, as the description and model number points out its RGB

              • @skido: If it is the YLDD05YL model then it should be RGB right? At least that is also what the Xiaomi AU website says.

                • @FrugalNotStingy: yea that’s what it says in the listing title and description

seems like an insane deal for 10metres kit if it really is this model

avg $6/metre.. The extension kit costs like $20/metre and base kit (2 metre) is like $50

                  • @skido: That‘s why I bought one from the AllPhone‘s listing without giving much thought (kudos to razorite). Even without the Afterpay discount it is still cheap. Hope it is 10 metres and RGB.

            • @ESEMCE: this is an entirely different product

              • @razorite: yes it is… this deal is RGB mine is White only.
I was highlighting to @Skidoo that Xiaomi do indeed make a White only LED strip

          • @skido: @skido: You have to connect it all yourself, including connecting a 2 core power cable, but it's pretty straight forward.

Make sure you buy the drive. Many sellers offer just the strip for some reason, but the driver is essential.

            • @ESEMCE: oh yea I have yeelights already. by drive, you mean the base kit with the plug and the button right ?

          • @skido: @skido: I found this German guys' video on YouTube before I committed
            https://youtu.be/QMoO-R2BXE8
It's not a great video, but gives you some idea of the performance.

    • also I just checked that all those places (kogan, dick smith) are sold by mobileciti too lol

  • I fear the price might be for 2m but we'll find out.

  • OOS

  • 10m omg so long… What are guys doing with 10m? Go around the room wall?

    • yep. looks really cool

    • It is 2m with extensions so you don’t have to use all of it.

    • That just rain out, I bought gift cards and by the time I checked out I was getting the seller has not that many item error :( …

      EDIT:

Ran, not rain but it's raining so I'll leave it be.

      • ah, unlucky, I just skipped the gift card are ordered to save time. But who knows this could all be an error and not be the actual 10m.

    • Ordered this one while it was in-stock but they just called and said they were out so they've cancelled

      • my call said they were 2m not 10m s0 we're cancelling the order

        • Did eBay show as sent for your order? Mine shown as sent but I have yet to receive it.

      • Having them cancel the order is better than the hassle of returning it after knowing it is only 2m as opposed to 10m.

        • yeah for sure

        • Totally. Was eyeing off some of the Kogan ones when they go on sale again anyway since they're a fair bit cheaper

  • Any listing for the 2m only? Im happy to pay like $15 for the 2m and I rather buy 2 of them one for desk one for tv for example

    • 2m is like $50 lol..

      • Nope, found $29.xx but yeah… 10m better value.
How about the $20ish china brand generic?

I believe you are referring to this.. if you click into it, the 2m kit is sold out and the $29 price is for extension lol

        • as for $20 generic one, not sure as I never used one of them.. but I think they do the job fine.. maybe quality and app experience/integration is not as great

  • well the one I got today was the 2 metre version, will be returning it.

wasted my afterpay $30 off $50 spend :(

    • like what JV always says…. too good to be true then it must be…..

    • Maybe ask them what is up and get a (big) partial refund?

      • yeah good idea

      • they sent me a return label

FYI the box came with EU plug as well, so I couldn’t use it anyway

        • EU plug? Isn‘t it supposed to be AU stock?

          • @FrugalNotStingy: ye EU plug… I dunno about yeelight cuz I bought a few from gearbite last year and they sent the CN stock but included AU adaptor with the purchase

  • I have received mine in a 2M kit as well. I have contacted them on eBay.

Even their ebay listing listed 10M in the product description.

    • It‘s them that stuffed up the product description, there is no excuse so should be responsible.

      • Just received a call from them and canceled my order the guy on the phone said the supplier asked them to list the items as such, take from that what you will..

        • I reckon that‘s BS. Maybe they sell the 8 x 1 metre strips that should be included in the kit separately when they shouldn’t.

  • Got told it was cancelled because they ran out of stock

    • Would you keep it if they fulfilled the order?

  • +1

My order just got cancelled too.

  • Went back into stock so I just ordered it, albeit it's a little more expensive.

    • It‘s only 2m.
I ordered a $15 cheapo 5m set from Amazon and a Lifx set to see the differences.

    • Let us know how you go.
You'd hope they'd fix the description (or actually ship 10m like it still says) before putting it back up for sale !

      • I got sent a 2M.

I thought they had fixed the listing given all the fuss from earlier orders.

I had to ask for a return and now I gotta deal with posting it back.

I actually bought a $20 USB cable from them to get the value high enough for a discount code.

        • You thought the listing was for the 10M still? I thought you went ahead because you wanted to try Yeelight.
