    • Naah not yet

      • Thanks for letting me know

    • It's not shipped yet for me either.

    • mine arrived today

      • Did you get tracking through eBay or did it just show up and no tracking notification?

      • was it Auspost ?

    Mavic landed this morning.

    • +2

And I have already spent an extra $200 on accessories

      • Hahaha! Yeah…that.

Now have more or less a Fly More combo, but with some alternative parts. Got a launch/landing pad too…not completely necessary, but handy sometimes. Eyeing off ND filters, as I hand't reckoned with the camera being fixed f2.8 - may not be entirely necessary though.

Already been eyeing off the bigger Mavics. I'm into photography, and this little purchase prompted me to investigate drones again. I have some I built myself, but they're not on remotely the same level as modern DJI drones.

This may have been an expensive deep discount.

        • Not sure about Mini but I have taken some long exposures on the Mavic Pro (3-axis gimbal) with ND4 filter, quite decent.

      • What accessories?

        • For my part, a couple of extra batteries, case for the drone itself (I'm not interested in an all-in-one case - I need to be able to pack this into other bags/backpacks), case for the controller, some spare props, microSD card, portable landing pad.

Have to say, this little drone has impressive flight stability. My other drones this size are a bit twitchy (but built for FPV, so that makes sense). Have already had this thing up over our roof checking the gutters (boy, do I need to clean those)!

          • @Banj0: Must say I was a bit disappointed with the DRM on the batteries. I thought I would be able to hack some lipos together and make that work but it doesn't seem worth the effort.

Never owned a dji product myself and as someone who was into drones 7 years ago it is pretty amazing how far things have come. From arducopter and separate modules for telemetry, gps, analogue video transmitters, go pros and everything else to a $300 phone sized all in one with double the range and video clarity is pretty amazing.

            • @Buyingcrap: Yeah…it's unreal eh? I guess I was doing same as you. I think the big hex I have in my shed is going to have to find a new home now - I always intended it as a photography base, but these off-the-shelf drones are doing that sort of thing pretty well - and I can slip it into a jacket pocket to boot!

Probably not a lot of people learning to fly line of site with these things though.

Ahh…the batteries. Yes…the DJI ecosystem seems to be a little…Apple-esque?

              • @Banj0: If you are impressed, wait till you use the DJI Goggles…

  • For anyone in Melbourne, where do you plan to use your drone?
Seems like there's a good no fly blanket - can't use in parks, beaches etc.

    • +3

I believe not national parks, but normal parks should be ok as long as you don't fly above crowds. Install OpenSky app and find where you are allowed to fly.

      • Ah ok cool thanks!

Very slow shipping from ninja buy, my watch still hasn’t been shipped yet

    • Same here. Pretty dissapointing when it's express shipping.

  • My drone is onboard with driver today. Hoping it lives through the weekend.

Printed some landing skids and a gimbal guard. Would like a filter to play with but they are pretty bloody expensive, any recommendations on the most versatile if I were to just buy one?

    • The Freewell filters seem to keep popping up for me. I can't imagine that they wouldn't have an effect on the gimbal, but mostly people seem to fly ok with them.

What sort of filters are you talking about? ND would come to mind as the most useful for filming. For stills, I'm not convinced that drones are quite stationary enough for long exposures - I saw somebody with examples of a long exposure of a waterfall they had done with a Mavic Mini, but the surrounds of the waterfall were very soft to the point that I didn't think the image acceptable.

There's some debate about polarising filters on these. The issue is that you can't really rotate them in the air, and so you're unlikely to find the correct angle. I'd still like to play with them though ….I use them in my normal photography, and I think they'd be useful in some situations. If you plan the shot you should be able to rotate the filter correctly at the start. If you're panning through the shot though, then you will have a variable effect that may not look very good. Wider lenses are also very unforgiving to polarising filters if you have a lot of sky in the shot (banding).

Your first filter buy would probably be an ND. Not sure where the sweet spot would be for ND filters…ideally you want that shutter speed down around 1/50 or 1/60 of a second for normal 24-30 fps filming (where there is movement, otherwise why bother). If your shutter speed is, say, 1/800 sec, then you will want a 4 stop filter to get down to 1/50th sec - that's ND16. I suspect that ND16-32 will be handy…maybe up to 64 for really bright scenes, or down to 8 for not so.

If you're not familiar with ND filters, they are to limit the amount of light such that you can use them to keep a wider aperture or lengthen the exposure (or both). Ideally they do this in a neutral fashion (hence "Neutral Density"), and will reduce the whole light spectrum equally - in reality they will result in some colour cast. This Mini has a fixed aperture, so pretty much you would be using ND filters to change the shutter speed. The ratings these filters are given are expressed as the result of an exponent with 2 as the base, where the exponent is the number of stops the filter decreases light by. ie…a 5 stop filter would be 2^5=32 - so an ND32 gives 5 stops of light reduction. If you are on 1/1000th second shutter speed, then an ND32 will reduced your speed 1000->500->250->125->60->30 - 1/30th second (approx…notice I halved 125 into 60 there).

    • There should be a lot of private sellers for these on eBay or Gumtree, many bought on hype and used just once or a couple of times. The ultimate ones to get are Polar Pro's, but NISI and Neewer are decent too on a budget.

  • Even though I put my address and I was home, it got delivered to the local news agency for pickup? How odd..

    • +2

I have witnessed couriers/post jump out and put a card in the box without even coming to the door.

    • Which courier company ?

      • Couriersplease

        • Was that the drone ?, if so lucky I didn't buy it than, I seem to wonder why their still in business just look on google and their reviews !!
I have received a bad experience once and never again would I want them to deleiver something.

          • @domo653q: My Drone came express with AusPost. Watch?

  • Bought a DJI refresh for the mini on ebay from Dronespro. 5% ebay code with 5% discounted gift card brings it down roughly $53.24

    • +1

eBay made a price beat error and I ended up getting 2 batteries on the mini from them for $24 each lmao

      • +1

How did that end up happening?

  • Have they sent the Apple Watch yet ? Horrible delivery timeframe

    • I got mine

But one of the belt is faulty.

So make sure you check the all accessories as soon as u received

      • Are they brand new Australian stock? Or oversea stock ? Thanks

        • overseas - it’s a US model number as listed in the description

  • Got the drone but which app for android do I use???

    • Look for the app DJI Fly

      • did but only getting dji go 4 since or before p4 but none of them say dji mavic mini compatible…weird

doesnt seem to be on google play store but avail here

        https://www.dji.com/au/downloads/products/mavic-mini

        • Yep that what I saw in the Apple App Store. From the start (since the Inspire and Spark days) DJI focus more effort on the Apple app than Google app.
BTW Mini instruction does tell you there is an Android version of DJI Fly.

          • @Buy2Much: was expecting it to be available at the google play store but not so, only via direct link.

  • Already a bunch of these on gumtree with the usual markup $400-450 🤣

Should we send an email to ninja buy since it’s almost one week and they haven’t even sent the watch out

    • +1

I have contacted them on friday and no reply, sent another email today. Mine has yet to be shipped out.

      • Mine shipped a few hrs ago. They’re slowing shipping them, just wait

        • Yep just got a reply now saying it's been shipped but it's just a terribly slow processing time. My baby wipes were dispatched almost immediately and came within 2 days

          • @alb3rtt: yeah same. poor service this time and i assume they were low on stock.

      • I sent them a message, still not shipped.

The promotions are not giving more confidence to buy more regularly on eBay.

      • same here… no activity on my account

      • Hi Mate,Which courier did they use? I got massage form courierplease my order on its way but no idea what was. Checked with tracking it provide could not find anything yet.

        • CouriersPlease. I didn't get any update until yesterday on the tracking and I received the package today.

    • I just sent them an email… disappointing :(

    • It seems mine shipped today, estimated arrival date 9th of April…

  • I'm googling, darn - you not only need Ebay Plus but this Drone Price is a one off super cheap!
