    You can use code once

  • Why not ? Thanks, OP

  • If it were USB C I'd buy in a heartbeat.

  • +2

I hope there will be a new code for 4pm deals.

  • +3

It's part of the ebayPlus Tuesday deal link

  • Thanks, got one.

  • how many phone charges could this do before re-charging it?

    • +1

Probably 2, depends on the phones.

  • not working

    • +1

are you an ebay plus member? If not they are still giving out 30 day free trials.

  • Thanks!

  • Thanks OP, grabbed one. $5 for a spare power bank, no brainer!

  • Good for switch?

  • +8

Got them when they were a $1.

    • When

    • +1

Has anyone done research? It's an unknown brand.

I have asked that the previous deal be reopened to ask for feedback.

      • +2

        It's a valid concern brizdaz.
Dodgy chargers are an excellent way to stuff up expensive electronic devices. You don't want to wreck a $1000 phone due to a $5 charger. There is also a fire risk. I would probably hold off and spend a little more on a brand with reputation that they care about such as Xiaomi or Romoss.

      • Used a few of these exact ones for a number of our cricket sides with live scoring to keep tablets and phones charged up.

        No complaints whatsoever.

        They've been rock solid.

        • +1

Might be pretty rare for one to melt down, but when they due its usually full-on

      • They seem solid

  • Got one. Thanks OP

  • Got one, huge deal for $5.

    • +2

Meh. They are slow to charge and charge with. OK otherwise. Stone age MicroUSB connection required to charge it

  • Is this even a good power bank? What's USB2.1A? USB-C is the fastest charging.

    unknown brand? Risky?

Your health and possessions are worth more then $5.

If it overheats or explodes then even though it's cheap your health or other possessions are worth more.

The above link was from Officeworks supplied power bank which was recalled due to above issues.

Has anyone done research? I am not saying it will but it is an unknown brand?

    • +1

I had plenty of powerbanks from AliExpress, none exploded yet but their capacities do degrade pretty fast.

This one, like other chinese powerbanks, doesn't (seem to) have the Australian C-Tick or the RCM Mark, so it is up to you to decide if you really want to pay a premium to get that aussie checkmark.

I had an unbranded powerbank once - took it on a trip 3 months after I bought it. It started swelling after 1 day of use. Opened a ticket and because it was >30 days after receiving it there was no warranty.
I could put it on a table, push on 1 side of the powerbank, and the other side would be +- 1cm off the table (it was like a banana). I got the feedback that it was "normal" after making a video to explain it was swollen.

        • Did AliExpress support claim it was "normal" or the seller?

          • +1

@Blue Cat: It was an ebay seller. It was the seller that said that.

      • Thanks for that. I was not aware of the RCM mark as it is new.

Somebody here had a cheapie from Target melt down on them, I remember.

          lmao, nice banana bro.
          no homo.

Thanks I ended up cancelling. $5 seemed like a bargain but I prefer to take the hit on the purchase price and minimise potential fire situations.

Disappointing that you can still get dodgy ones via Officeworks, as per your link. But I guess there is a distribution and product recall process with the retailer that can mitigate issues once they are discovered.

Had a friend who worked in product liability litigation. Things do go boom. Pets do die.

Looks like you can't purchase more than 1 item with the promo code.
Ie - went back to purchase the diswasher tablets for $9.. got this error - You already applied this code to an order

    • I just found out the same. 1 item per person per transaction didn't realise it was only 1 item out of the eBay plus promo per day. Was able to do one of each last week….

      • Yeah… bummer… would have skipped the powerbank and brought the dishwasher tablets instead.
        ahh well.

        • I would have done the same (ezza) but just picked first deal off the forum.

Ahhh the fine print from T&C … "For each person, there is a limit of 1 transaction per redemption code. One item can be purchased per transaction."
I read it as one item per transaction, exactly as it reads, not 1 transaction per redemption code per day.
Always learning with ebay, The hard way.

        • The Finish classic tablets are nasty…. be glad you didn't get that

  • Doesnt seem to have QC so I'm not sure. Although does seem very light and has screen with power level

  • I could not get this because I already claimed the code with another item.

  • not functioning - I get wrong code msg

  • Error - Looks like that's the wrong code.

  • Should I hold off to use this code for something better?

  • I bought this from eBay Tuesday last year for $1, it is decent but being micro USB I really find myself not using really but yes it's decent size only charges phone one time fully.

I used my code to buy the electric brush instead for $5

although feel like the headpone would have had been a better deal

    • Never mind you can use different ebay plus accounts to buy more discounted items.

Limit of 2 per same payment method, 1 per ebay account

  • $5 .. no brainer..

  • Seems like it's sold out now

Apparently Choice has a review on this, but as I'm not a member, I am unable to view it. https://www.choice.com.au/products/electronics-and-technolog…

      No particularly good points.

Long charge time (compared to other power banks of similar capacity).
Hard to see LEDs (charge level) when charging cable is plugged.

  • any advice for the initial charging of this power bank? I've plugged it in but no indicators showing up…..??? (go easy on me…I'm just a little Granny :P )

    • …doesn't matter…I worked it out :P
