DJI Osmo Action 4K Cam $299 Delivered ($279 with Little Birdie Code) @ Amazon AU

This post contains affiliate links. OzBargain might earn commissions when you click through and make purchases. Please see this page for more information.

Price matched to JB Hi-Fi and Harvey Norman which is a good price… But combine with the Little Birdie $20 voucher and it's a great deal for Australian stock. Note with the Little Birdie account, it only applies to your first order, so you will need to create a new Amazon account.

Alternatively you can select Amazon US as it is priced at $286.40 but don't think the Little Birdie discount applies to this as it's Amazon US. Also I don't think there is international warranty so any issues will need to be handled through the US.

EDIT: Also available at Diamonds Camera store in Adelaide for $299 delivered. I don't have any affiliation or have dealt with them before, but they have good reviews online… and thought I'd plug an Aussie brick and mortar store in case anyone wanted to purchase there. On their page they have a price match query, so could always check if they are willing to match $279 at Amazon.

  • Can i use this as a webcam?

    • +1

Found a few forum posts saying it can be done but it's not a supported function from DJI.

      • are there other brands that can that are not overpriced go pros

    • Not officially, no.

  • hmm tempted, cousin was using this in 2019 in Hawaii, great photos and video, the front screen was good for taking pics etc

so tempted, but going no where to use it lol

I've got one. It's fun, works well, takes great pics…. and stays in a drawer 99% of the time.

      • +3

hahahaha I have an old goPro 5 (or 4?) hero black and always think of the need to upgrade… but then… 99% of the time in the drawer

      • yeah thats the problem
great for when we were in the beach or the bay etc
not doing that much these days!

        • Why not? Are you sick or unwell now? Serious question.

            @ozhunter68: more for snorkeling
after going to hanauma bay in Honolulu, getting crystal clear waters with at ur foot steps and seeing the wild life I miss that

calm waters and simple swim ( I'm a terrible swimmer) and usually panic in waters, the full face mask also helped

            • @djones145: Thanks for your reply. I understand a bit how you feel as after an accident I am more wary of oceans

now too (got caught out badly few times in strong ocean rips that rocked my boat (pardon the pun)).

Have never been to Hawai, but reef snorkling off islands in Queensland and Thailand was similar and yes

that is relaxing and most enjoyable. I will try to get to Northern Queensland this year if no lock downs again.

@ozhunter68: yep, head to decathlon and get one of the full face masks, it was brilliant, i had the mouth piece and hate swimming but with the full face mask i could breathe like normal

in hawaii i was swimming in a bay, so there was next to no waves and clear waters

i remember going to cairns and it was a struggle back then

but with that mask and a life jacket i reckon i could venture more out and see better corals

      • Time to go to Hawaii!

DJI is gonna update this product line this year, releasing a new gen Osmo Action. Just FYI.

    • Has this been confirmed?

      • Pretty much for sure as the Osmo action is a year old. Gopro 9 is still 500+ ffs….

      • I'd say pretty solid. Besides there're DJI Air 2S - soon, and Mavic 3 - late this year or Q1 2022.

  • Would these be better than Drift Ghost X Action Camera? Looking for a camera for my motorcycle helmet :)

      Is this what you after?

      • cheers, much appreciated the video :)

This is the more recent review.
          https://youtu.be/qwSKB0YRnII
But I would choose Drift Ghost x over dji because of the shape, it feels less impact in the event of accident, but dji has better image quality for sure.

    • Gents, I came here looking for this exact same thing!
I want something I can mount to my helmet chin. Thanks for the links. I see 2nd hand GP 7s & 8s around the $200-300 mark - should I plump for one of them or get these instead?

Bought one at this price last time. Still in the drawer waiting to get to go overseas.

  • I've got an ancient Sony HDR-AS200V and use it on my bike.
Watching videos taken with new models like this one or GoPro I do not see that much difference.
I got a feel is that If I want to go one step up in quality I would need to mount a Sony RX100 or Canon M50.

    • Camera upgrades are really only new modes (60fps, 8k etc) or better low light sensor these days.

  • How was you able to use the little birdie code? Mine comes up invalid code and I have selected the Amazon AU store - anyone know the work around?

Have you ordered from Amazon before? Only works for your first purchase, so you'll need to setup a new Amazon account

I got mine for 269 AUD in January https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/595547 and I am quite happy with it so far, but that price here is also good.
I was deciding between that camera and GoPro Hero 9 for double the price and at the end I chose this one, since I am not a professional athlete or photographer.

The camera is great, I'm using it for kiteboarding attached on the board, on the kite or on my chest and also for snorkelling 1-2m underwater with handle and even did diving without extra diving case up to 10-12 meters and worked fine afterwards.
With the latest firmware it is great, the stabilisation is quite good, the quality is great, there is HDR too. Took several time-lapse sunrises and a few hyperlapse walking videos - both are quite good.
Highly recommend it. Previously I've owned GoPro Hero3, Hero3+ and Hero7 and all had issues like freezing, overheating, crashing during video capturing, battery draining, even degrading of the video quality after few years.
Anyway, GoPro are still great but you need to decide base on your budged, your needs and your usage.

    Cheers.

Went to JB HiFi today - did it straight up for $295.

  • This is amazing action camera. The only problem is that once the novelty fades off it sits in the draw all the time. Great for recording bike trips around the suburb, hiking trips, beach and adventure activities. The Hyperlapse functionnis a great feature and creates cool videos! The accompanying MIMO app has good editing options and some cool features. Definitely worth it for 300. For an even better experience buy filters off Amazon!

If you are going to be like me likely to use an action camera once or twice a year if that. Then go with this rather than the GoPro hero 9. The money you save you can buy lens filters and other accessories.

don't forget to combine with the 5% jbhifi voucher and 3% shopback giftcard purchase. thanks OP
