Received this from cotd! Not a bad price in my opinion!
Although it is refurbished nut the price is acceptable.

    Free?

  • COTD says 1249 + $10 delivery. It's refurbished. Good price?

  • $1249 + $9.95postage

I'd rather buy a decent desktop, because this laptop is not very movable.
    Dimensions (cm): 442.6mm(W) x 294.2mm(D) x 41.5mm (approx.) (H)
    Weight: 4.64kg

    • maybe an i5 ultrabook? I Love the small weight!!

  • definitely are some better deals on ebay.

  • I think its a decent price for a gaming laptop but then again such a laptop wouldnt be so portable :)

    i dont want refurbished.
i dont trust whats happened to the unit in its previous life .
    just saying
    nice specs though :)

    • ture never get a 2nd hand laptop

Its not what you call second hand. Refurbished laptops are fine regardless of the manufacturer, i have purchased refurbs in the past and found them to not have any scratches or damage, they appear new but just have an opened box.

From the Refurbs that i and friends have purchased i understand that they are returns to the place of purchase within the 30 day period.

Also remember that refurbs come with full manufacturers warranty.

        • refurbs can also be items that were returned to the manufacturer due to fault eg trackpad / DVD did't work on arrival. They then fix / replace the part and repackage for sale as a refurb.

If I see a lot of refurbs of a product (ie enough for 3rd party like COTD to be selling them in bulk) I tend to think it has an issue either customers have not satisfied and returned or a high level of faults with the components.

However I have bought refurbs direct from manufacturers (Dell - a laptop, Apple - Airport Express) where they a) proved an as-new warranty and b) have a high level of customer service. I never had issues with those devices to warrant testing out either.

not good enough for bf3 and crysis 2
higher res needs better video card

    • +1

Won't run it on ultra but med/high will be fine

  • Pop Toshiba X500 into eBay and you'll find this basic model (with different levels of RAM & HDD) all for about the same price (slightly less when the HDD/RAM amount is smaller).

This is about the right price, not a good price.

Not sure how many CODT has in stock of this "refurbished" laptop - if it is one too many, it may not be worth buying!

1680x945 resolution screen? Does anything support that by default?

    • +1

well that is a standard 16:9 ratio.. it's just uncommon because we're used to 1920x1080

  • Wish they had the X775

  • +1

Yeah definitely go a new desktop instead of this refurb desk-book

$1250 for a refurbished laptop…and its from COTD. They must be dreaming

You can easily get a brand new Qosmio from some of the less stingy Harvey Norman stores when they have the laptop sales every few weeks. Or better yet willing to forgo the useless 12 month warranty and get it online for much much cheaper

refurbished and COTD, dell was selling better specs with below price,..

    • +1

and really crap screen for the size.

  • I got one of the 17" i7 from Centrecom listed about 2 weeks ago ($999). Much better buy I reckon.

This one would be ok for someone that wants transportable and has dodgy eyesight (low res, big screen).

  • Good for the guys who work at the mines etc
