I bought a black pair from https://www.westcoasthifi.com.au Joondalup for $1,100 and they weren't even having a sale to my knowledge.
I should mention this was 4 weeks ago but like I said, I don't think a sale was on. They list RRP on their website so I found going in store gave me the best price.
Would have been a sale as the current price on the website is 1599. Thanks for bringing it to my attention. Will keep an eye.

to be fair, that op was reviewing a refurb unit.
Or a pair of B&W 607 S2 for $200 less.
606 are a big improvement on 607 and a small price jump. 607 is useful when space is tight for speaker placement.

Careful with these guys. Tip, don't buy online, physically check that they have stock b4 you pay. Check that stock is in new sealed box.

I got one of the Aiyima A07's that have been popular lately to give a try and its pretty nice, I doubt you could beat it for the price - comes in around $100 depending on what PSU you go for. A 70's or 80's era Sansui/JVC/Pioneer/NAD/etc for around $150 might be your next best option until you get to the $500 mark, provided its in good condition.
