        It's usually the hobbiest technician or the Asian soldering master in the back room who does the orders and keeps the gifts. I like to tag along on these orders too.

            The person making the order generally keeps the gift.

            The person making the order != the company spending millions of $$.

            If I needed to make an electronics order of $350+ for a company, I'd consider going through element14, and getting the free gift.

            Assuming they aren't overpriced for the items I needed.

                @FIVEDOLLAR: Last time I checked, 100% off an item was a pretty good bargain.

                It's more akin to a targeted bargain. If targeted deals are allowed, I see no reason why this shouldn't be..
