a much better deal than the previous alienware rtx 3080 - the crappy monitor and peripherials + 11th gen i9 +extra 16gb ram

    • +1

I was almost on the last 1, but I think this is more my jam. More RAM, a newer CPU.

    • +7

Have you seen the reviews for the new 11900k? It's a fake upgrade. All the benchmarks point to it being worse than the 10900k

      • -3

it's better than the 10th gen i7 in the recent post and the motherboard offers better options for future upgrades

  • which 3080 tho

    • Honestly it'll be their branded 2 fan unit I would expect. I've seen a couple of people trying to flog the Dell ones for $2400 on eBay, whether they sell for that is another story.

      • I see,

I mean if you want a 3080 system this is about the cheapest and only way to get it so if its something not totally crap like the early Galax ones its fine lol

  • How would you value the components of this build if the 3080 was at a regular/reasonable price?

    • +2

I have no idea what most of the parts inside are but making a quick list comes around $4212 with bloated 3080 prices so minus $1000

      CPU $600-650
      512GB+2TB - $200
      RAM - $175-225
      PSU - $200
3080 $1000-1200 (if we were talking maybe retail under normal conditions)
      Windows $100 legit copy
      Case $100-200?
Maybe throw $400 at anything left over, build, warranty, motherboard, shipping etc
On the low end maybe $2600?

Above being said, I'm no PC guru, so my estimates could be way off.

      • +2

its a 1000W PSU (hopefully 80+ gold) fyi for whatever reason, maybe they got too many

  • +1

Better off buying something with a 10th gen i9 than 11th gen - based on the reviews it's gone backwards…

    • +1

Really? Is that just the i9? Because of the lower cores?

      • huge power draw, need new motherboard to use adaptive boost, gaming results not much different
you are best getting 9th gen intel or 10/20 last gen one

        • you realise this is a 65W TDP chip? nothing huge power draw about this, stop using 11900K as a baseline for every chip

      • Yeah lower core and thread count meant the 11900 performs roughly between the 10900 and the 10700 (based on GamersNexus, Linus Tech Tips etc).

  • Good airflow with this case?

  • -4

What advantages does this computer have over, say, a train? Which I could also afford…

    • +3

More games, but a train probably has better air flow shrugs

    • Rarely see RGB on trains

    • Well, you'll notice how the CPU cooler warms your feet while the… …. … …gently massages your buttocks.
Well, Count serpserpserp, shall we discuss the…?

  • If you ripped out the 3080 then what would be a much cheaper but semi decent card to out in if you didn't play the latest games?

    • 3DFX Voodoo Banshee

      • A classic card perfect for the latest games like need for speed hot pursuit…

    • No cheap GPUs anywhere atm, unless you got a mate with a 900/1000-series card

    • +1

Really depends on what you wanna play. If you're talking the last few years at high level graphics, maybe a GTX980 up to say a 3060? still looking at 700 to 900 probably.

      TechRadar suggests these https://www.techradar.com/au/news/best-cheap-graphics-cards-…
      AMD Radeon RX 5700
      Nvidia GeForce GTX 1650 Super
      AMD Radeon RX 5600 XT
Gigabyte GeForce GTX 1660 OC 6G
      AMD Radeon RX 5500 XT

1660 look pretty easy to get around the $400-500 mark.

  • What brand of graphic card is there? Can it be undervolt? Is there any software provided for it?

    • Dell.

      Nvidia drivers

    • +1

you can undervolt any gpu with msi afterburner, it doesnt have to be from msi lol

  • Any thoughts on this?

    https://www.jbhifi.com.au/products/hp-omenm-t13-0842a-gaming…

This would come down in price with the Jb-hifi 5% promo to $3,470, only reason to consider it is because it seems like a better case compared to Alienware.

    • +1

Doesn't look to bad, but I'd be wary of "Back order available", god knows when this will be in your hands.

    • 16GB RAM is ok but for that price would would think 32GB would be a nicer fit
i wonder what the psu wats and grade would be
