Onda V10 Battery Dead, Now What? (10" Tablet Suggestions)

Bought 2 of these, and tbh they've both had occasional bugs, but now one has decided it doesn't want to charge so is subsequently dead. Both tablets are for my kids for games, youtube and video playback, so it's really not worth trying to fix (and no I don't have a soldering iron etc).

So now what's a good replacement option?

The Teclast P20HD seems like a good upgrade, while not being overly expensive (though more than the V10 was), but what else is there I should consider?

Or should I just bite the bullet and get the Samsung Tab A7 10.4? and hopefully get more than 2yrs out of it?!

Try replacing the battery first - its not as hard as you think. I’ve done it before on a Samsung and was actually pretty good fun. Just see if you can buy cheap tools and batteries on ebay first and give it a go.

  • Don't have a soldering iron or heat gun, hence too much effort for what it's worth…

As said, both tablets have had their issues. This one used to glitch, as well as randomly restart, so god knows what underlying issues it has. Who knows, maybe a dodgy battery connection was causing it and it could be brought back and be a better tablet, but bear in mind this was a $120 tablet…

    • Just saw those instructions - I agree that’s a pain!

I am still getting more than out of 2 years out of a Samsung Galaxy Tab A 10.1 (2016). The Samsung One UI software is very stable and there aren't any crashes or glitches.

Downside: it's kind of slow, even for online shopping but perfectly fine for reading books and watching Netflix / Amazon Prime video, but that's what you get when you buy a Samsung A-Series.

I have moved onto the newer 2019 version however, cost me $199 from the eBay Plus deal. It's still not a strong performer with limited RAM but good enough for my uses.

The Snapdragon 662 in the 2020 version should be a significant step up from Samsung's own mid-range Exynos SOC's.

  • Just to update this (shock horror an OP going back on the post lol)

So went from the idea of the Samsung tablet, to the Lenovo C340 Chromebook that was on an eBay special for around $319, thinking it would be handy for her @ 9yo. Comments suggested the Lenovo Chromebook Duet, and that's where I ended up!

$499 from Good Guys (hang on, there's a reason), $95 for 3yrs Concierge ($180 credit, warranty etc), less $80 CBA cashback, then claiming price guarantee with OW @ $395 = $514 outlay with $124.80 immediate credit, $180 credit later, 3yr GG's extended warranty. Shame I couldn't have gotten it for the cheaper deals @ around $320, but ah well

Really liking the Chromebook so far over an Android as I can have access to multiple accounts and switch at ease, so it's very easy for me to use it after her, or to give to my other daughter
