    Legion 5 5600H $2299 + Delivery

Is the new, thinner model, the Legion Air available yet ???

    • +11

It is, but they're difficult to find as Lenovo weren't allowed to make too many of them - there's a Legion Airs Cap.

      • +1

Lenovo weren't allowed to make too many of them

Is that only for the ones made locally though?

I prefer to get a Foreign Legion that's made overseas…

      • Why are they limited?

  • +1

The white version looks clean AF

    2.1 HDMI as well

Hopefully soon T.A will do a deal on this Fingers Crossed

    Lenovo listing

    NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060 6GB GDDR6, Boost Clock 1425 / 1702MHz, TGP 130W

How does this work when Nvidia website lists the RTX 3060 Mobile as Maximum 115W GPU Subsystem Power? (click specs from the top menu then "view full specs")

Are they not the same thing?

    • +1

There are a huge variance among mobile GPUs. The 3060 is variable from 60w to 115w officially… but Lenovo are big enough that I can see them having a custom card / BIOS made that boosts the power cap a little .

      • +2

I find it hard to believe just lenovo would have it but not every other company-when not even Clevomachines have it when they (historically) had some stupidly high powered units.

If I have to guess, this is the advertising department messing up again and the 130w is actually 115w tdp+15w from dynamic boost.

Im happy to be wrong though, but I have my doubts.

      • +2

It was something called dynamic boost 2.0. Essentially, if CPU takes 40W and GPU takes 115W and the application is more GPU-hungry, the system will shift 15W from CPU to feed GPU—> 25W for CPU, 130W for GPU. Hence, the Max TGP 130W.

I’m in the market for a new laptop, and was interested in the 3070 variant of it, was talking with their rep 2 days ago and they said ETA was 6-8 weeks for production and plus 7-10 days shipping.

They said it can be earlier but for me it’s no good.

  • +1

I pulled the trigger on the 16inch 5800/3070 version as soon as it went live about 10 days ago they had a modest discount on it. I paid 2750. The 140w 3070 was the decider, with many manufacturers going for 90W versions.

When I ordered they were quoting 7 day delivery. Currently chasing a new ETA. I will put the hard word in them for an upgrade to Ram or SSD.

    They can only say no!!

    • Would like to know how does the thermals do when you receive your unit.
Also the wattage the 3070 runs at when it is not dynamic boosting.

  • While these are great laptops, look if you have access to get them for China as they are selling for around 30-40% less (7499 rmb for 5800H).
They would also come with international warranty.

The only issue is they are getting sold out almost instantly whenever new stocks arriving.

    • Is there a way to buy from in China and ship them to Aus?

      • Taobao offers direct shipping to Australia but there's likely some custom to be paid.
Or you can purchase on Taobao, send them to a parcel forwader and declare it below $1000 to avoid tax.
I have done it several times shipping over 10kg of clothing or electronic and declare them for $10, never had an issue.

        • I thought you pay GST even when it’s below 1000 now?

          • @Exorcist: To be honest I am not sure about this.
The last parcel I recevied I declared it as $10 and it arrived within a week.

However I do suggest you check with the forwarder re insurance as it won't be so much fun if your $1500 laptop go missing but you only declared it for $50 (they do offer Fedex so the chance of gone missing should be fairly low)

    • Where would you buy it from? TB or JD?
How would you pay for customs?

      • Both TB or JD is fine as long as its Lenovo official store then I suggest you Google up parcel forwader, and you can declare your parcel as low as $5 LOL

  • Cmon Amex, do your thing.

If only this had a higher resolution!

    • You probably aren't going to get much difference between 1080p and 4k on a 15.6 inch screen. If you really need a 4k screen, Metabox have several laptops that can be upgraded to a 4k screen but will cost quite a bit.

For those looking to purchase, I just asked the live chat if they could provide a discount for the Legion 5 Pro with 5800H and 3070 and they discounted it by $349 ($2,550 total). Not sure if they would offer a similar discount for the base model, but I would expect that it would be likely.

    • Damn I ordered a standard Pro for 2499 over Easter
When I ordered it said shipping in 9 days, then it looks like they sold out, order hasn't updated at all after 3 business days yet

    • Would you still be able to get cashback too if live chat offers a discount?

      • Cashrewards tracked just under $90 for myself, so it seems I received a reduced cash back (still better than not getting a discount).

        • You can lodge a ticket with Cashrewards and they will correct it.

  • +3

Will the price drop in the near future, maybe close to financial year? Worth waiting?

    • +1

Seems highly likely for discounts and deals not too far away. Depends on your own judgement. I needed a new laptop desperately and I want something I can keep for a long time, so happy to pay a bit of a premium on a new product

      • Very nice, I'd be jumping on that if I hadn't purchased earlier :(

    • Any chance you could PM me the quote? That discount is quite a bit more than I managed to get, wouldn't mind going back to them and seeing if they can do the same :)

      • Sure but your settings doesn't allow PM
