i got the 5 last deal, life-changing watch, so good to keep motivation up if you are using it for exercise and the battery goes about 1 monthish without needing a charge if your just tapping it a few times a day to check time and workouts

the only downside is all the permissions the mobile app wants, you can skate by without enabling them all however

  • What’s the difference between a Mi Band 5?

The first result of the Google search “mi band 5 vs 6” will answer your question.

Bigger screen and added Sp02 sensor, also has 30 exercise modes over the band 5's 11

The Amazfit band 5 which came out about the same time the mi band 5 did has a Sp02 and Alexa and looks the same as the band 5.

So depending on what features you want may be able to pickup a bargain on the older Amazfit band 5

  • What is the difference between the CN and Global (if any) version?

    • From memory when researching the band 5s the Chinese will have NFC and other features but they won't work here. It also does Chinese or English language only, the global will have more language options.

    • What is the difference between the CN and Global (if any) version?

One spies on you openly, the other in secret…

Biggest question is: how accurate are these when doing exercise? Mi band 4, 5 had the same issue. Inaccurate heart rate detection when exercise which causes your burnt calories to be way less.

Cycling was a big one. Heart rate detected was 64BPM when I was at 155BPM. Ripped off about 300 calories per session as these watches simply go by Heart Rate vs Time vs Distance.

Xiaomi mi band 3 seems to be the last accurate one.

Here is one thread explaining the issue.

    https://amp.reddit.com/r/miband/comments/hwjxhv/mi_band_5_he…

I'm sure I could find about 50 more.

    • The heart rate monitor on my Mi Band 4 seems accurate until >150 then it starts to slide.

    • yeah I did a test the other week against my MyZone chest strap, it was all over the shop when using a Skipping rope, the moment I stopped it took up to 20seconds to fall inline with the chest strap. I couldn't tell if the constant jumping was impacting it's detection or not but a chest strap was very constant at it's readings

    • Agreed, I've used a garmin vivofit on one wrist and mi band 4 on the other, with a good 100+ cal difference between workouts and much more for daily totals. Not to say the vivofit is super accurate or anything but seems from this comment thread I'm not alone.

Would anyone have any insight as to how much of an impact darker skin would have on the sensors? I do vaguely remember hearing about accuracy being impaired on some of the earlier models for more darker skin individuals.

My thoughts was that outside the sun was getting into the sensor and prohibiting it from reading accurately.

But that was my thoughts on the issue.

        • Ah very interesting, thanks for the insight. I think people were trying to mitigate this by using paper underneath the sensor but again seems like it's on the lower side for everyone not just me.

Please let me know if you see any data on the accuracy of the 6 in future though, I think it should be a worthy upgrade from the mi band 4 at this point in time.

  • i remember when the mi band 6 came out, those who ordered from aliexpress got theirs late compared to people who bought locally

    • when was that?

  • oh whaaat… 6 already?

  • There is plenty of seller on Aliexpress has similarly priced deal. Some claimed shipped out even quicker.
