    $909 for the i5/1650ti/8GB ain't bad.

$929 for the Asus i5/16GB/1650ti is good too

Anyone have thoughts/reviews on the Asus? That looks like a solid deal. Few peoples reviews on the Nitro has me concerned… but I figure all laptops get loud when gaming.

We have had to return 5 Asus laptops all the same vintage (2.5 years old) all the same problem all been 'repaired' multiple times. Fighting Asus for a resolution, they take 3-5 business days between replies and it normally just jumbled english along the lines of, sorry for inconvenience we will escalate. I like the specs on this but can't get past their service and quality issues

        • Hmm that’s not great. I’ve read online this chassis isn’t all that crash hot either - heat and noise is exacerbated.

I think I may consider the OP Acer Nitro. Ideally I’d like a 120hz screen for that money… the Gigabyte Aorus 5 laptop has it for $1199 at PLE - i5/16GB/512GB/1650ti.

  • I have the previous year model with the gtx2060. Gaming on it is pretty crap. Laptop becomes so hot and the fans are loud as hell. Keyboard gets so hot that it was difficult to play games on it. Definately needs a laptop cooler I'd you want to play games.

I also have last year's model. Fan does get loud but only during gaming and that's to be expected on these budget gaming laptops. I play on an eternal monitor and keyboard, so I can't comment on the hot keyboard.

I have the i5 10300h / 1650 ti / 8gb ram version and I upgraded the ram myself soon as I got it to dual channel 16gb.
I play warzone daily and have fan on max - yes it is loud but it works fine for me. I have consistent 85-90 FPS on low settings on warzone with nvidia filters on as well - external monitor - note that internal screen FPS always runs lower because the GPU pushes out to CPU to then render on screen vs on hdmi output going straight from GPU to external monitor.

I got it for 996 at HN when it was on sale during xmas and salary sacrificed it so with the ram upgrade and another 512gb nvme ssd the total cash cost was 750 bucks, totally worth it for the use I am getting.

  • Isn't the 3060 model out already? That is a much better product overall, right

Don't buy Acer Nitro unless you need a $1000 (loud) heater for this winter. I have the last year's model too and it is probably the worst performance & gaming laptop I have ever owned.

    • I got a 1650ti variant at Xmas sub $1000 for my son and its been fine. He doesnt play the latest and greatest games but its been great for rocket league, terraria, ARK etc.

      • +1

I got this and it works perfectly for warzone on an external monitor with a 8gb RAM upgrade (bringing it to 16gb). People are just expecting too much at this price range. It is actually a great laptop if it can run warzone flawlessly at 80+fps - never had heating issues either, no major throttling, performance has been consistent every day.

What is the harshrate of this gpu?

    • is someone mining

      • a desktop 1660TI can make $3-4 a day

      • wtf, we trying to get decent systems and here's another miner wanting to buy all the laptops they got in stock.

  • How many ssd HDD slot this Nitro 5 support ? What type of ssd it support ?
It mentioned that 512GB PCIe NVMe SSD in spec ? Is that same as M2.NvMe SSD ?

    acer sucks

  • How about price match with officework as they do sell same laptop with tag of $1999

    • They usually tell me no if its ebay or a grey market store like bing lee.

      • +1

lolwut? Grey market store like bing lee? OW staff needs to get educated on this.

        • Sometimes it felt like they rejected it on store name alone. I'll remember to show them the homepage next time, cuz they defs are Australian
