Note: This barbell is not suitable for high drops, clean and jerk or deadlifting.

    • Thats quite standard for this price point.
I have a similar one from gym direct and I very carefully place the weight down as I work through my deadlift sets. Definitely not ideal for reps till failure or 1 rep max.

      What about snatching?

    • Might also be related to the amount of "whip" that bars have. At competition levels there are differences in bars such as being more flexible than a standard barbell - specifically for clean and jerk and deadlifts whip can affect technique.

  • Decent shipping price for me. I noticed these have 2 bearings when the others I've been looking at have 4, can someone who knows tell me whether I will notice the difference? Me being a noob who won't be lifting more than 100kg for a while. I'd rather spend money on a decent bar then replace one a year down the track.

I'm not sure you would really notice unless you are doing more explosive multi-joint movements. Squats and bench you'd hardly notice, deads if you're only doing 100kg it probably won't matter. 99 bucks for an olympic bar is extremely cheap so I'd be wary - i have a feeling they just received their late shipment that they wanted to receive last year when we were all locked down and now they need to get rid of them.

since this bar is not meant for high impact or dynamic movements (ie, Oly lifting), I doubt you will notice any difference when your squatting, benching and pressing.

      • Thanks I think I'll just stick with the bar I've been eyeing from LittleBlokeFitness.

  • Was tempted till I saw the postage cost to QLD. Ouch.

  • Some of the packages are priced pretty competitively. Would expect a few of these deals to start popping up after gyms start getting back into full swing. Will be in the market in 6 months time so hoping they drop further.

  • "This barbell is not suitable for high drops, clean and jerk or deadlifting." <—- May I ask why this barbell is not fit for those?

    • +1

probably because they use cheap bearings and any significant impact will damage the bearing and effect the spin of the bar.

  • There's some thing weird with the postage estimate, looked at the page on mobile, chucked in my post code (0800) and got an estimate of $418, now back on desktop, same postcode is giving me $240 for postage, and looking at it again on mobile is now giving me $462..?!
