More effective 500ml Windex Glass Cleaner is $2.55 in woolworths. 75% Isopropyl Alcohol can also do a fantastic job for screen cleaning.

    • +8

Isopropyl alcohol damages perspex/acrylic and polycarbonate which many lenses are made from it also eats through the anti glare layer on computer screens.

You could probably get away with it a couple times but you might find crazing and cloudy spots on lenses and screens if you do it consistently enough.

        Consistently like, twice a day?

      • Thanks for letting me know. Didn't know this.

      • Prove it

    • +4

I've been told by many techs who fix phones/laptops that any Isopropyl solution over 50% in alcohol will damage oleophobic coating of screens.

    • They break down the oleophobic coating overtime.

      • +1

Is it golden goal or full length overtime?

      • -1

        Prove it

        • I'm not here for your specific benefit. You can however listen to the people who have mentioned this. Or suss it out on google yourself. Or ignore and do your own thing.

          • @mbck: I'd prefer if he ignored your comment and keep wiping his devices down with alcohol. I learnt it the hard way, screwed up 2 devices by using 99% isopropyl every now and then.

    • My S-I-L had a Samsung UE 55 for just over a year (bought for GBP 2500), and she used an alcohol based cleaner to wipe the screen. Needless to say, the screen ended up f-up. 8 years later, she's still using the same TV, you just have to blank out the crazing.

Wow…. this is why I read Ozbargain comments … I've been cleaning my monitors with 70% isopropyl alcohol and had no idea it was bad

      • -1

Yeah yeah drink the kool aid

        • Are you able to offer some specific insight? Or are you content with the useless comments?

      • +1

You don't really touch the monitor all the time, like a smartphone screen. Plus there is probably no such coating on a desktop screen monitor. So you won't feel any difference.

    Thanks OP. Ordered a couple.

    Thanks OP. Got some.

  • Went to get some and sold out

Does this turn my monitor into a tank?

You are logged into the wrong account, jv.

My life has improved dramatically since hiding jv's comments. Can recommend.

Just FYI, these are now back in stock (with very limited quantity).

  • You may need to try a few times. Refresh the screen. I tried to order three and had to put through three orders. One at a time.

  • +1

    Got 3 now

  • Honestly thought looking at the thumbnail that this was for a tanning oil/cream.
Don't know if my pasty tech support ass is pleased or disappointed by this.

    • La Roche-Posay for $5 - it's a steal

  • just spray and walk away

  • +1

Its back. bought one, no idea why. thanks OP

  • Still in stock. Just ordered.

Stupid question: it mentions phone screens but will this be just as good for pc monitors and OLED TV?

  • The TV, even though it's wall mounted, gets a lot of toddler prints ……. so, bought!

  • Just checked now and was in stock. Purchased one and now it’s out of stock again.

already delivered today, definitely good value for $5

Nice, superfast delivery with DHL. Already received mine(I ordered in about 3 mins after the deal was posted), was surprised to see they've also sent in a nice little cloth bag inside and it has 2 good quality microfiber clothes too. Definitely good value for money for $5. I had to apply generous amount on the TV screen to remove toddler's fingerprints, but it works. Good quality. Thanks OP

  • Just got it now, delivered by DHL express. The product itself works well.

  • +1

Got mine delivered today! Didn't know DHL delivered on Sundays …

  • Got mine a few days ago. Very happy with it. Good deal for 5 bucks.
Appeared on ebay for triple the price. Must be retail arbitrage.
