Just a reminder that the item starts selling from the 21/1 and for those of you who may forget you can use the "Add Reminder" function on this deal.

i am after some tools to work on my motorbike. is this set really cheap? compared to, say Super Cheap Auto's inhouse brand?

  • +4

I've heard the quality isn't very good.

they have been described as "rat sh!t".

    • Previous tools I have bought from Aldi (spanners, pliers, side cutters, screwdrivers etc) have been pretty good, they claim to conform to some (European?) quality standard or something.

    • +5

I see what you did there

    • +3

Well for $15 it's not going to be top quality is it… But for Many people more than enough… Putting flat packs and the like is so much easier with a ratchet…

I've got this Aldi set, and it's good - bought it about a year ago and use it quite often. The ratchet handle is good too. It includes plenty of strange bits but misses out on a few odd ones.

One annoying thing is that there is some duplications eg: torx and torx tamperproof (hole in the centre of bit) - you don't need the standard ones, because teh tamperproof fits both

    • if it's tamperproof why do they sell tools for it?? thumbs up for the $6 hex allen set also

      • Tamperproof screws encourage you not to tamper. They still need the ability to be taken off for maintenance.

  • Are the tool bits magnetic? Just about every set like this isn't magnetic and i can't find one to buy!

    • +1

In the top right corner of the top lid, 2nd attachment down it seems to have the magnetising bit. Also it mentions it in the product description on the Aldi site (follow link)

      • Thanks for your help but i was referring to the individual bits being magnetic themselves. This is so when i undo a screw of some sort, I want the end bit to pull the screw out with magnetism.

        • What you do is:
          1) Plug magnetising bit into handle
          2) Plug individual bit into magnetising bit

Due to the wonders of magnetism, the individual bit is now magnetised and can pull the screw out (or hold it before you screw it in).

  • Good price

  • Good price on this. I bought a similar set from Jaycar electronics which does not have the handle (http://jaycar.com.au/productView.asp?ID=TD2038&keywords=bit+…). It's quite good quality and has served me well. If you don't want a kit as bulky as the Aldi one in your toolbox, and are attaching it to a drill/driver then it's worth looking at. I got it a couple of years ago for $16.95, but it is now $19.95.

  • Good price for casual users.

  • Aren't these massive toolkits always incredibly poor quality?

Every single multi-function ratchet I've come across has been made out of incredibly hollow plastic and the bits always have trouble staying in place or allowing you to torque them extra hard.

  • To whoever bought it…

how is the quality of the tools, does it look, feel cheapy or easily breakable.
