Really nice budget ultrawide gaming monitor. Some people have mentioned here already, the hdmi cable that comes with this is a bit short. You may need to get yourself a longer cable. No complaints about this monitor from me.

    • +5

Agreed - although you should be using a displayport cable anyways..

      • +8

It does actually come with a Display Port cable

        • I never said it didn't :/

          • @18: he never said you said it didn't :P

          • +2

@18: All good - it was a bit unclear. Just making sure people know.

      • +2

Dp ports on my gpu haven't worked out of the box. Techfast build.

        • +2

they may have given you a wrongly rated dp cable. Also anything above length 1.5mtrs and dp loses signal.

          • +4

@robo11: It's an old freebie lying around so it might be the cord. Thanks

    • how long is it?

also what version of hdmi cable do you need to get?

      • 1.5m on mine - length is fine.

    • HDMI? Mine came with a DP cable

  • +11

It is now mandatory for Ozbargainer to have this monitor at home

    • -3

      still not got one..

prices were much more better before but still didn't get one

Would be good if Xiaomi released an updated version or second model with IPS screen etc..

Some say this got some ghosting so hesitant to get it…even when there was a good price

      • -4

VA > IPS unless you're doing color accurate work. IPS is terribly boring to look at.

        • +6

Conversely, cheap VA is just terrible to look at.

        • VA > IPS?

Did I just read that right? Why?

          • @iLikePizza: google says VA is the best for contrast…. dunnot im not a gamer / photoshopper

          • @iLikePizza: Simply because of Contrast, color and refresh rate. IPS is bland and washed out, and typically is the most colour accurate panel.

For some reason, plenty of people seem to think there are tiers to panels, with IPS being king shit and the end-all. Unfortunately being misguided seems to make up the majority of ozbargainers, no offence intended.

Each panel has their own respective place. I use an IPS panel for work. I have a VA panel for gaming and media consumption. I used to game on an Acer Predator XB271HU, then moved on to an Acer Predator X34. From there, I upgraded to a Coolermaster GM-34CW, and ultimately ended up buying an Acer Predator X35 shortly after as I wanted a slightly larger ultrawide.

There's a reason the X35 is a VA panel instead of an IPS.

    • +4

where yall gettn the gpu to push this :')

      • Just use of the few dozen you're currently mining with

    • its mandatory for Ozbargainers to have a home made out of Xiaomi 34's

  • yay finally on sale

  • If I don't already have LG 34" I will buy better resolution and curved.

    • how much you paid
and what is the model of that LG?
      IPS or VA panel?

      • IPS flat a few years old 1080p 34UM69G mainly for work only, I think only 400-500 by that time

  • +1

So I don't game, i hardly sit at my desk at home. Prefer working on laptop top of my couch. But still want to buy this

    • then do it and stop thinking about it and then sell it to me at loss.

    • its a nice ultrawide regardless

    • yes yes, good consumer, gooood, let it feed through your veins…

  • +1

I don't game on a PC but would this be ok for use with a Mac Mini setup?

    • +2

I'm, running a M1 Mac mini at the moment, decided to get this monitor. Join me!

    • +2

Definitely, I use mine with a macbook pro. So much real estate to work with.

    • i have the 27" iMac, but just bought the 28 core mac pro. would this be a good monitor for my mac pro?

      • Yes. Unless you are dumb enough to pay 10k for the Apple display.

        • What's another 10k if he just got the mac pro…

  • I wonder if a second one of these would be dumb……

    • +2

Yes because you'll end up with a bezel down the middle.

Buying two more though and running triple is a genius level move

      • how big would your desk need to be to have 3 of these monitors?

      • Maybe one on top? But then I end up with too much verticality potentially.

  • +1

Apparently this had rather poor latency & G2G response times comparred to most other monitors.

For the same price, I went with a Kogan 34" instead when it came on special.

    • They do. I wouldn't recommend the monitor gaming. For desktop use they're alright though.

The Kogan uses the same panel though, so I wouldn't imagine there's a dramatic difference between them.

      • +1

I think the newer 1000R model was a different panel to the previous 1500R version (I have both now).

Hardware Unboxed apparently did the reviews; I'll have to find the links

        • Ah, good to hear! The Xiaomi was very underwhelming for gaming use. How do you find the newer Kogan compares?

          • @wintermadness: I loved the first one; G-sync compatibility was perfect on my 1660 and had zero complaints.

I got the second to pair with my 3070 and it is beautiful at 144hz. Couldn't for the life of me figure out why Control was running terribly and tearing, until I realised that the Nvidia control panel had set it at 60hz without GSync, which was quickly rectified.

The 'stronger' curve is not really noticeable, but the joystick menu controls are much better than buttons.

            • @Switchblade88: So both are good for gaming?

              • +1

                @gorgrond: Yeah, absolutely.

Biggest issue is simply the number of pixels - my poor little 1050ti could run the screen OK for Youtube, but struggled at 20fps in GTA V. So definitely needs a decent graphics card for reasonable gaming.

Second problem is the 21:9 ratio isn't supported in a handful of games, including some via Game Pass that can't simply be config edited to match the display. WSGF has several realtime patching apps that can fix this for most games that don't work well otherwise.

These are both minor quibbles that aren't exclusive to the Kogans though; I can't fault them otherwise and would buy more without any qualms about it.

Best addition for any monitor though - an Ambilight system!! Got an Arduino, running 136x WS2812b LEDs around the perimeter, and Prismatik doing the screen capture/output at 100fps with no latency. $30 investment that's well worth the money - IF you've got the patience to set it up.

      • +5

        Totally disagree.

I've been gaming on this monitor for 6 months and it's been absolutely fine for shooters and other fast-paced games.

I've played side by side with a friend's Predator X34 and while it's not the same quality, it's pretty comparable.

It's also pretty sweet for office tasks during WFH

        • +1

There's probably something wrong with your friend's X34 then. I've used 3 of these Xiaomi monitors, and even compared to my ~5 year old 27" Predator the difference was night and day. Smearing, ghosting, input lag, freesync issues. Everything about it is significantly worse - except dark scenes. They looked great.

It made me realise I do love ultrawides, so I don't really regret getting it. But it was on Gumtree within 3 months of arrival.

    • The kogan is now $999, right? The one uses newer panel than this xiaomi

  • will this work with my iMac?

  • +1

    Waiting for $399 :)

    • +1

      meToo

    • me too

    • +1

It's been just a few minutes shy of 2 hours and 30 mins, how is your wait going at this point in the evening?

  • Would love to see a 43" version of this monitor, but that may be asking a bit much me thinks.

Any recommendations for a 43 to 49" screen with bang for buck value for price and specs?

    • At that size (and a reasonable price) then a 4k TV will likely be your best bet.

Not aware of anything bigger in ultrawides until you get to 32:9 which are very expensive

    • I have a 43 inch philips screen amd the xiaomi. Honestly I would never again buy 43 inch. It is just to big for efficient work

      • Thanks for sounding off on that.

I was checking out the specs and features of a Samsung Odyssey G95 LC49G95TSSUXEN 49" display.

Quite pricey and out of my budget atm, but for a monitor it seems to be something which I would be aiming at but just cannot find the dosh atm.

a TV is too big for my desk or layout and so was hoping for the a balance, so maybe this deal on the Xiaomi might be best but as others have said, if it can be gotten for less then might just wait for that.

        • You can always get rid off it for around $500 on gumtree. Buy, try, decide.

  • Thanks OP, just got one for WFH :)

  • +1

I noticed last week that my D9 is supporting multi map feature.

    • What is the relationship with this xiaomi?

      • Xiaomi tries new tech with dreame and once successful they implement them on Roborock series i guess

        • oh i thought you were discussing the monitor - sorry!

        • How is the D9, worth the money?

          • @BeerCrisp: Paid $399, worth full so far. I recommend since they are fixing so many bugs, just waiting for google assistant support

  • thx OP

  • Anyone bought gearbite ebay and live in apartment? Will they buzz your unit and ask for signature or just leave it in the lobby?

    • They do.

  • This or the M27Q? Building my first setup (gaming primarily) and the only thing left is a monitor.

    • +1

This. It's a great monitor and the widescreen makes games just that extra bit better.

  • Was so keen to jump onto this, seeing that eBay would cover the cost of eBay Plus with a voucher. Unfortunately can't stack this coupon with the $50 eBay plus voucher though :(

    • That's the catch with that voucher, yeah. Can't stack with any of the good eBay Plus deals.

  • +2

I just spent the evening gaming on my Xiaomi Mi Curved 34" and it was fantastic. After a day of using it as my work-from-home monitor with dual Chrome windows side-by-side on the wide screen. It's really the best bang for buck around.

  • I wanted to jump on this but I don’t have eBay plus.
    :(

Gearbest any chance of a deal via your official website ?

    • this is gearbite.

last week similar deal from other store no need ebay plus, cant remember who

      • ugh i just joined ebay plus (got the 50 dollar voucher) and they out of stock! NOOOO

  • game over guys see you on the next xiaomi deal

please share photo of your 2 curve setup later on…… im still hesitating to get 1

      • please share photo of your 2 curve setup

It's generally polite to converse first, before sharing intimate images

        • But we are one big family here…. ozb

  • Bought the bidet… bit more than it’s been previously, but I guess that’s to be expected in these shitty times

    • Add new remote controller, cost much higher now.

      • Oh nice, thanks. Didn't realise that as there is no picture or mention of it on the eBay listing. Have found it on your website though - looks good.

  • The Dreame is appearing at $420…..

  • Monitor already delivered… sydney north…. crazy fast…..
