Not sure how good a deal this is. Need to crunch the numbers.

There is a fee of $4.95 a month for the card. Also you need to figure out how much fuel you'll buy over 3 months. The points are awarded based on your spend in the first 3 months.

Finally is locking in a price on the 7/11 App and getting it cheaper better than buying BP fuel at whatever price you can get it at?

    • Or just keep buying it at 128/l at costco.
      Cheaper on most things too

    • Why are numbskulls downvoting this scientific analysis? Here, have an upvote :)

      • Thanks boss! i was confused too lol.

    • So the minimum account keeping fees are $14.85.

You get 10,000 points with the minimum spend, so (in my valuation) ~ $110 in value (minus $14.85 is $95.15).

So as long as $100 base spend isn't a stretch and if the overhead of BP vs your other fuel is less than $95.15, you're in profit.

You're probably better off shooting for a higher amount in those 90 days though, because the base cost of $14.85 is fixed but the reward multiplies. Yes, you need to spend more but it's for a product you'd buy anyway, and to be honest the price is just a red herring if you value the points - yes, 6c more a litre is a lot but what is it for a 50 litre tank… $3 in total and yet you'll get 5 x as many points for spending $500 over 3 months as $100, but the delta in cost is more like $50 to you for 5 x the reward (assuming 10% overhead on BP's prices which is a LOT) and the same base cost.

Oh, and apply when your tank is getting low

  • How much are 50000 points worth?

    • +4

      about tree fiddy

    • ~ $550 (at 1.1c per point), but others may value them differently. 1.1c is my maximum acquisition price for them to be worthwhile

    • Three spandex and two ponchos.

If I was in a position to utilise this offer I would be inclined to do so as a 'hit-and-run'-type operation. I.e. tee-up a few family members to get in on the act to ensure that the $1500 was reached within 90 days, receive the 150k QFF points, then quietly exit the 'program'.

Notably, QFF points are transferable between immediate family members …

QBR points have even more flexible transfer options.

    • Glad to know we think the same. Time to reach out to my extended family.

  • Good for those full-time Uber drivers, and they can get a biz class ticket when the border is open to relieve their stress.

  • i guess there would be a personal credit check involved and i wonder if you could purchase a $1500 gift cards instore with it?

    • If it's anything like the last time… Credit check on ABN used and 15k minimum line of credit. Only fuel purchases count for min spend and vouchers/store purchases accrue qff points 1:1.

      • So a personal credit check?

        • Registers as a commercial credit enquiry…ABN attached to ACN
Might be different for sole traders.

          *Just checked ..it's a 30k line not 15

  • Do you have to pay the card fee?

I thought you could run the whole thing from the app. i.e no card

Or is it a fee for the virtual card as well

    • Are you really going to complain about $14.85 card fee when you could potentially earn 150k Qantas points?

  • Looks like great deal, just wondering if previous bp plus holder (account cancelled now) would qualify? Thanks
