Just a FYI, Eufy have just released a 2k version of their floodlight camera.

      • +4

        2k = 1440p :D

        • -7

That makes no sense lol. I'm not saying you're wrong, just that it's bizarre.

          1920 ~=2k.

          • @justtoreply: What is 2K QHD?
2K displays are those whose width falls in the 2,000-pixel range. More often than not, you’ll find 2K monitors with a display resolution of 2560x1440, that’s why it’s often shortened to 1440p. However, this resolution is officially considered Quad HD (QHD). As such, many monitors claim their resolution as 2K QHD.

          • +2

            @justtoreply: The actual 2K is 2048 × 1080 for professional digital cinema. The corresponding consumer resolution is FullHD/1080p (1920 x 1080).
But for some reason people started using "2K" to mean QHD/1440p (2560x1440).
Apparently the "2K" used by eufy is also different at 2304 x 1296.

When you're right but get downvoted.

    • Link? I can't seem to find it. Would be interesting to know the exact difference.

Bunnings for the same price for a while now. https://www.bunnings.com.au/eufy-1080p-white-floodlight_p018…

  • Do you need any other parts of the eufy ecosystem for this to work?

    • This doesn't require anything further including the Hub to work. Footage is recorded directly to them but footage viewable through the same app (EufySecurity) as the EufyCams.

It's been $199 since February 6 on Amazon

  • Any suggestions for a property I'm renting?

Don't want to drill holes and damage things.

A deck chair and esky on the verandah so you're comfortable overnight watching the property.

      • That cracked me up. if this was USA you'd add a shotgun on your lap.

    • If you still into the plaster board and not brick work you can fix it up on removal quite easily.

Just picturing an extremely bright flood light and camera attached to a wall on the inside of the house, blinding anyone who gets up for the toilet in the middle of the night.

  • Can you choose from how far away the light sensor can work? Or does light only come on from a certain distance ? Thanks

    • +1

You can set activity zones, however this model does not have the AI detection the other cameras have, so it will go off if anything goes within that area.

The 2k model has AI, so you can set it so it will only go off when humans are detected.

Note that with all these cameras AI is disabled at night (so reverts back to going off if anything is in the zone)

If you face the sensor down flat enough and set the activity zone you shouldn't have too many false activities

      • Thanks for that

Ideally we would like the light to come on and detect us from about 3-4 metres away - is that possible to set ?

        • +1

yeah, i would just put the sensor pointing down fairly close to the ground so it has a flat range.
Within the Eufy app you then drag out rectangular activity zones as to where you want it to activate.

  • I'm going to wait for floodlight 2k with homebaae support coming later this year

  • Im about to buy the wireless Eufy cam 4 kit from bunnings, anyone here have hand on experience with Eufy or these cameras??

    • I have just bought a 2C cameras package from Aliexpress with EU plug , and extra a tile indoor camera. They are very good. Long time battery , very user friendly app.

  • +1

No deal as amazon is selling for $199 no delivery fee

  • +1

They're great. But if not in hurry, should wait for a SCA sale.

    • Yeah that’s what I am waiting for

  • I actually prefer the flood light are the indoor camera is able to save into the base storage . But so far only the 2C camera does that .
