Dell Monitor Arms: MDA20 $289.50 (for 19"-27" Displays), MSA20 $154.51 (for 19"-38" Display) Delivered @ Dell

Saw this while browsing for a monitor arm a few days ago and keen to getting one after purchasing Dell Monitors last year, specifically the wave of delayed orders from Aug 2020.

The link goes to MDA20, you would need to search for MSA20 on the site or use this link.

PS: I saw a previous post for MDA20 last Feb 2021, and it had negative comments. I agree some monitor arms are better (eg. Ergotron) and cheaper but hey its Dell. If there would be a deal for Ergotron monitor arms please share it on OzBargain.

  • Anyone know if there's a minimum desk thickness? I ordered like 3 monitor mounts not realising my desktop was too thin (Omnidesk).

Put a small piece of wood between desk and clamp?

I will try that, can't believe that didn't come to mind straight away.

I've always done this to all my desks. Evens out the load and avoids bite marks from the mount

    • You can try monitor mount reinforcement plate, I have seen it on Amazon before.

    • I think the clamp goes all the way so that it touches the bottom of the base. My desk has a 25mm thickness and I'm reinforcing it with a plank from Bunnings with the same thickness, total of 50mm.
There should also be a support or manual somewhere in the Dell's website about MDA20 / MSA20 dimensions

      • I was wrong, the total thickness of my table with reinforcement is 4cm (2.5 cm for the table itself and a plank of 1.5cm). I had mine last night and installed it.

    • For anyone else with an OmniDesk, the humanscale monitor arms work well without needing any spacers.

They are also rated for more weight than the average mount, which works for my X32P.

      • I've had a omnidesk for about a month. Im unsure whether I can deal with the monitor wobble for much longer. How's the wobble on yours with these monitor arms?

        • Not a lot of wobble on mine tbh

Was literally looking for a deal on the MSA20 to fit the AW3821DW.

    Thanks!

This monitor stand is pretty nice as well. Plus pretty sure can get extra 20% off here if you're a student.

I am using one of these at work, it is crap. Only good if you set it once and forget.

      • Us too, they're really terrible if you want to adjust your screens occasionally. Arms are much better especially for ergonomics.

  • What's the maximum extension on the c clamp? I was thinking of using this on my dining table, but it's quite wide at 11.3cm.

    • Curious. What's the use case for a double monitor on the dining table?

      • +2

I was thinking of the single monitor mount. Use case is working from home needing a bigger monitor and don't a spare room for a study!

the clamp could support up to 5cm, but I feel like 4cm might be safer just to give space and tighten the clamp. unfortunately might not be able to support your dining table width of 11cm

  • MSA20 looks to still be discounted but is slightly more expensive than when the deal was active

  • I found out the hard way the MDA20 is incompatible with an Asus PG279Q because of angular plastic around the vesa mount.

There's no solution to this issue, just shouting into the void.

    • i hear you. looked it up online and seems like the PG279Q's vesa compatibility is not compliant; some NB monitor arms also doesn't fit

      • Contributing to the issue is Dell's adapter plate extends past the normal dimensions of a vesa mount, and the Asus' mount is too far recessed. Anyway Dell is taking it back and I'll buy an ergotron lx dual side by side (for more money sob), where the only thing that has to attach is a regular 10x10 plate.

Ergotron also have a compatibility database which is incredibly helpful.

        • You get what you pay for with ergotron though. Hoping to get one as well
