    • not sure. check my comments above. Site and contact number looked a bit dubious, or maybe they're lazy with web design.

      • I'm suspicious myself. But they accept PayPal which seems ok to at least try, worst case Paypal should cover you if anything goes wrong right? .

    • Looked dodgy.. thought it was dodgy, pulled the trigger anyway. It worked.

      • Of course its dodgy. There is no such thing as Microsoft Office 2019 Professional Plus License for resale. It has been discussed many times already on OZB.

        • @ sid55 This user just mentioned it worked?

          • @Freeza: It may work but its not a legal lic.

    • Whatever this is it does not seem to be the same product. It seems to be a lifetime subscription to office apps.Whereas this post in 365 subscription which includes OneDrive etc.

  • The only thing that is annoying about the storage is that there’s no way to manage the 6tb however you like it across the accounts you have - so it basically forces you to create fake email accounts if you don’t have enough family members. I actually tried to abuse the system and subscribed with my email account with a “.” as if it was a diff email address, and Microsoft deleted that account and the files I uploaded through it with zero notice. The delete part was like “yeah, ok”, but the zero notice was “oh wow, you guys really deleted files without even a warning”. This raised a red flag for me

    • Did you mean MS deleted your files from your completely different email account OneDrive? You have the license and you are entitled to use it! What on earth MS are doing!

      • They probably have something hidden in TOS.

      • +1

yes - but as I said what I did was: my main account was [email protected]. I then added a family member as [email protected]. e-mails to both "myself" and "my.self" go to the same inbox on the g-mail side, so even though these look like different e-mail addresses they are the same. I know, dodgy, but as I said I was trying to "abuse" the system to get my 6tb of storage without having to create additional e-mail addresses.

I'd only recently extended my Sub using the 30% offer, but used this to extend another three times. For me well worth it for the Cloud Storage, the access to all the O365 apps is just the icing on the cake. Remember, with Onedrive you can sync photos from iOS/Android devices to Onedrive as well using the Onedrive app on your phone. Yes it's not Google Photos or iCloud photos but at least it's another backup.

    Thanks heaps OP!

    • If you have a Samsung device, OneDrive is the way to go! Gallery app sync's directly with OneDrive and it works seamlessly, has not skipped a beat since I set it up.

  • Does anyone know if I can use Microsoft vouchers from MS rewards on this?
Don't want to redeem a voucher and then be stuck with it if I can't.

  • Thanks OP, until 2025.

  • Did anyone receive this message? Is this offer exclude current subscribers?

"Unfortunately, based on the email address entered, you are not eligible to participate through your current employer."

    • +1

Your Office need to be part of the "Microsoft Home Use Program"

  • I don't have a company and I am not employed.

  • I assume this payment is in the US so will encounter foreign currency charges?

    • +2

Nope. AUD billed as in Australia. I have a Westpac card notorious for foreign currency charges e.g. Book Depository, but didn’t get charged any when I renewed my Office365 subscription in October

  • Have anyone tried x4 Personal and x1 Family with success to take the full advantage of this 50% deal?

    • +2

i did and it works. But i did not have any subscription to start with.

      • +1

Very good. Thank you! I am going to do the same which will give me 5 years family subscription :)

    • Yes it definitely works.

  • Unless you need that storage, save yourself the trouble and use the Google equivalents for free :)

    • +1

You can also use the online versions of Microsoft Office for free.

      • You can if you don't like yourself.

  • +1

So I am eligible with my work email but don't want to upload and backup to my work email one drive. Can I sign up my personal account to this deal?

    • +1

yes its meant to be for personal account.

    • Yeah you access the deal through your work email, and then you sign up through your personal account. There is no way to apply the actual subscription to work accounts as that is a totally different pricing structure.

      • ok awesome, my work one drive is on the work desktop. Don't want my raunchy selfies being seen

  • Note that if your kids live in NSW and are at school they have an EDU account and free access to Office 365 and Adobe Creative Cloud.

    • Depends what you want to use it for. Do you want your kids to be able to see everything you put there? Would you trust your kid not to delete anything from there (by mistake). Also, any actions and files may be subject to whatever protection the school might have (i.e. ni public sharing, alarms on any specific words/files, etc)

      • The software gets installed on the PC, and you don't have to give the school or department access.

That isn't the point though. The point is that a family membership is not worth much if half your family already has it.

  • All students with an edupass account in Victoria [email protected] get this for free including Adobe Creative Cloud.

Guys, can you please help me with the following:

I currently manage a Family subscription which I share with 5 other creatures. The subscription was paid in full (no HUP discount) and expires on 14th June.

I'm eligible and am trying to think about a way to get this deal without causing chaos to the others. I'm considering the 4-year personal upgraded to 5-year Family.

I could just buy the subscription through my partner's email to guarantee the long-term deal, wait for the current subscription to end and then re-organise the shared benefits again, with my partner as the manager.

I don't know if the 4 individuals would be interested in keeping their benefits, but I believe it's likely… Therefore, the ideal would be to downgrade to Personal, buy the 4 years, and upgrade to Family again, and add the 4 individuals again. However, if I downgrade I believe the 4 individuals would be affected, and I'm not sure how exactly they will be affected. Microsoft recommends deactivating the shared benefits before downgrading, but they suggest we have 30 days to re-subscribe before any data or access is blocked:
    https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/office/find-out-when-you…

An alternative is to wait until the 14th June, but that means the 4 Ozbargainers will be affected by the downgrade anyway. Although my "contract" with them expires, and I might have to check with each person if they would like to keep (and pay for) the benefits.

Any ideas about the best way to do that? Has anyone downgraded from Family to Personal and upgraded using this deal?

    EDIT:
So… My problem actually made me find a better deal, which I'd like to share.

My Microsoft account is from a different country (so is my payment method). I started the VPN, was logged-in on my Microsoft account, copied the link on my e-mail (I used my .edu.au e-mail address) and replaced the "/en-au/" with my country's language. The page came with the price of the Family subscription for the first year in the local currency, which is equivalent to AUD 41. I repeated the process until I had a Family subscription valid until June 2025. Four orders for the family subscription (so I didn't have to downgrade my plan, but the same idea of upgrading the personal do the family should work), total of AUD 164. I couldn't place the fifth order as my subscription was valid until 14th of June, but I guess I will be able to buy another one in June if Microsoft doesn't change the algorithm. Still, happy with the "solution" I found.

    • Good find for the different country deal. I am wondering if your Microsoft account is from a different country, all your files on Ondrive store in that country's data centre rather than in Australia?

      • +1

I don't know… My Xbox Live is paid using an Australian payment method, but Microsoft 365 subscription has the international payment method linked. The country on the main profile on https://account.microsoft.com/profile is Australia.

    • Which country did you use, I tried India just then VPN + /en-in/ and its coming at $54

  • Is it just a link you need? would someone be willing to send me a link if they dont want to use it? Ive tried multiple work email addresses without luck.

  • It seems like all you guys & gals are grabbing at this primarily for storage and if so why not invest in a NAS? Don't get me wrong, it's a great deal, especially after staking it up but… Hope ya'll at least use something like a Boxcryptor…

    • People have different requirements. I've been very happy with the combination of Onedrive and Boxcryptor. Also have a NAS, but these are completely different things.

      • That is good to hear and agree on the different requirements bit… My point was if storage is the key takeaway from this deal, there are perhaps better and much more secure options out there… It wasn't meant as a negative, just genuinely curious!

        • All good… I think Onedrive is probably the best long-term solution in terms of cloud storage for a decent price (considering this deal). Have been to Google, Dropbox and the backup services such as Idrive and things like that.

I bet most people just upload everything to the clouds without encryption. I used to do that years ago, before Boxcryptor… Most people don't have sensitive information, and minimise the risks of having non-sensitive data uploaded to the clouds…

I like Onedrive and Boxcryptor combined, and sync NAS and Backblaze too. We can't trust everything to just one piece of hardware (NAS). By the way, Backblaze B2 is definitely a cheaper solution for storage.

  • Current work account (small business) isn't part of the Microsoft Home Use Program so not eligible to use it.
Can I use mate's work email or previous student email to activate it and register it with work email? Just wanting Microsoft Outlook online with customised domain name really.

    • +1

Microsoft Outlook online with customised domain name.
Are you talking about a Microsoft Basic (originally Essentials) subscription i.e. whereby you host your Domain Names email on their systems?
If so, that's a different product to this.

    • Here's how Office 365 users can get a custom email address — without corporate headaches

      https://www.zdnet.com/article/heres-how-office-365-users-can…

      • A painful workaround (having to deal with GoDaddy) BUT an interesting one. Nice.
Wonder if any changes since then as the article was written in 30/01/2020. Thanks for the article!

No VPN required. On the bottom left of the page is a picture of the globe where you can change your language to different markets.

    Few I found very cheap.

Language: Таджикистан - Pусский / Tajikistan - Russian
    30USD = $38.62AUD

Language: Туркменистан - русский / Russian (Turkmenistan)
    100,000 m = $37AUD

    Language: India (English)
    ₹ 2,449.50 = $42.50AUD

This is for the personal account. Not sure if it affects your account in anyway… Maybe safe way is to buy 4 x personal in Russian (Turkmenistan) and then the 1 x family in Australian currency?

    $37 x 4 + $64.50 = $212.50 for family 5 years?

    • +1

      I found Brazil is cheapest R$139,50 = $33.63 AUD

      • Excellent find!

      • Can't seem to check out with paypal for some reason

  • Just note this does not include Teams and planner, but very good value! Thanks OP.

  • Great Stuff: Now can somebody set me up as a Work User on your systems please for a day so I can get the email for it to work. :-)

  • +1

    Worked for me :)
Plus clicked on ShopBack before ever purchase ($7CB for every 12months, but not holding my breath)

    • +1

ShopBack tracked all 4 purchases @$7ea. Getting back $28 on the initial $213 total. :)

  • Anyone know the answers to this?
I have an unopened "O365 Home Premium subscription" (was Office 2013 when this came out).

    1) If I activated, would it be considered the same as current Family subscription (assuming the unopened box does not expire)?
    2) If above (no1) was true, and one bought the O365 Personal x4, could one use the Home premium to top up the 4 x personal to Family?

More as a matter of interest!

  • This is quite cool, for organisation, is this program free of cost, might suggest it to the boss.

    • You can download Office for free on a personal computer if your work has Office 365 subscription.

      • Using your personal account though?

Purchased 4 years Personal and 1 Year family with $7 tracking per transaction from shopback. Didn't bother with region change. Didn't want to risk it.

  • +1

Just used this with an existing family sub that was about to expire. I had to downgrade to personal first, stack a few of them, and then add on a family. Once my family sub was restored all my shared accounts appeared again.

There was an option during the first personal purchase to keep my existing family, but it wasn't clear if a) $15 would be added on or b) the length of time would be reduced pro-rata. So I just went with the downgrade, stack, upgrade path and all appears to have worked fine.
