          Jbhifi is selling the 2020 older models at discounted price, my question is why didn't you opt for a newer model directly from Apple compromising the 10%?

              What I’m referring to is M1 models released in 2021 with bug fixes etc. That’s why you have the same MacBook models of different year with same spec
              E.g MacBook Air late 2016, Macbok Air early 2017 etc

                  Every MacBook released shows a version. For e.g. the latest MacBook bought from Apple store would show: M1 MacBook Early 2021, M1 MacBook Mid 2021

                  Until the next version is released.

    i use my M1 Macbook air with lightroom and i can tell you 8GB ram is not enough

        I have an app that tells me when my ram is maxed out and this happens every time light room is even opened. When it runs out of RAM it starts using some of the SSD as temp memory which I read shortens the life of the SSD. I've sold my M1 Air now. My next will be at least 16gb

      I am using M1 Mac Pro 8GB with a second 5K monitor, 30 browser windows, and LR Classic (the desktop app) works fine.

        It is amazing how good the M1 is. Cant wait for the MacBook Pro to come out. I would bet that the 16inch model would be mini led display.

      It might be worth waiting a few days after release, just to avoid issues that plagued this model upon release like high swap memories and the third party USB-C dongles killing macs.

    My 2011 air just died. 10years is great build quality.
    Not sure if to wait for m2 or go m1 now. I have plenty of devices I can make do with Windows, iMac, Ubuntu, iPad, android tablet, My air was the go to device to get stuff done without sitting at a desk. I’m a light user now…used to use Adobe suite but not so much anymore….really tempted with low priced m1 air but love MagSafe.

      my gut feel is the improvement from m1 to m2 wont be as dramatic as the intel 10th gen to m1 has been. thats why i went m1 (tho one hopes for faceid on a mac eh)

      i feel you on magsafe, i miss it, but with m1 i use the laptop plugged in a lot less than my 4th gen intel 13" retina. i use a 90º elbow usbc so i can leave the air on the couch with the usbc port side right up against an edge of the couch, with the cable routed where theres no snag risk. then i just pull the cable out when i go to actually use the laptop

        Switched to an old surface 3 and Bluetooth keyboard. Functional but slow…may tide me over but just read Apple anticipate hardware shortages by end of year.

    I've been thinking about the Air but couldn't give up on my 2015 Macbook's 12" form factor. The 13" air feels so much heavier and larger. Decided not to upgrade and hoping Apple will release a 12" laptop soon (fingers and toes crossed).

        Depending on what you need it for really. I use it to watch movies and browsing. No issues.

        Will upgrade when m2 comes out hehe

        Agree but it actually works better than I expected. I just can’t get into the 13” form factor after using the 12” for so long. It’s actually quite the difference.

      ??? Places like JB don’t buy these at RRP. They will still make a little profit. Or they would get subsidised for it. One way or another, JB gets something.
