It's been around $600 quite a few times this year….

    • UK stock though, if that matters. $675 is pretty good given prices lately - I needed to replace my Google Wifi system and the best I could find for ages was around $740.

    Why is this a bargain?

Amazon have been selling it for around $600 though…

        • Ahh ok. I wasn't sure if that was recent price or not and this one was lower. Clearly I'm an idiot….sorry guys.

          • @nujee: Hope you haven't bought it yet, and you can get the OW price match from the post below…

    The processer is BCM6755, low-end.

    • if you really like a expensive & mesh WiFi6 router, get velop mx5300.

Quad core ARM is not a low end CPU for routers.

      That's the CT8 (Wifi 5) model, not the XT8 (Wifi 6) model.

      • plot twist…

Bought this in the Black Friday sale.
Have just returned it after months of issues - basically one unit continually dropped the 5Ghz backhaul causing drop outs. Also would find that it randomly switched to 2.4Ghz for backhaul which dropped performance back to ADSL 1 speeds or below.
End result a houseful of teenagers whining as if the world was coming to an end.
Spent months trouble shooting with Asus and trying all their solutions (after their initial snide comments about reading the manual). When the unit finally decided to drop 5Ghz altogether they agreed that perhaps there might be a problem.

Wouldnt recommend even at this price.

    • ouch, that's no fun.. although at least they're prepared to help.

      whata6 your replacement?

      • Sent them back last week, so they haven't actually got there yet (from WA). Waiting on the response.
Currently running on our Telstra issued Smart Modem.

    • I feel like every mesh product is a crapshoot - I originally bought Google Wifi and was a massive supporter. They worked brilliantly, I had great coverage, everyone was happy.

About three years later they went to hell. Constantly dropped Zoom calls, speeds degrading over time, Sonos randomly failing, and an inability to see the ethernet backhaul they were very obviously connected to.

Since replacing them with the XT8 I've been really happy again. 5Ghz backhaul is working, I now only need 2 units rather than 4 to cover the entire house, and client speeds are consistently between 100mbs and 250mbs depending on how away I am from the units.

I don't have an answer buy my hunch is that with every single one of these there are only two types of people; those who are having problems and those who haven't had them yet.

FWIW, I'd still buy the XT8 or CT8 over Google Wifi.

      • Do you know what went wrong with the Google Wifi seeing that it worked all this while? What changed?

  • I’m using this, bought from Amazon / shipped from UK during thanksgiving deals. Yes it came with uk plug but didn’t bother as it was replacing my asus AC68U ( 3 nodes) with XT8 (2nodes). I’m having very good experience. No dropping, 5ghz back haul is working superb. Though I’ve set auto rebooting early morning 2-3 times a week and hardly faced any issue. Around 52 IOTs and IP’s running most of the time with PLEX and HDHOEMRUN. so far so good.

  • I know this is a completely different price tier (and features) but I am finding a Wifi 6 mesh with Xiaomi AX routers to work very well, at a much lower price.
    Currently using 1x AX3600 and 1x AX1800
