HP Pavilion DV6-6025TX RRP $1599 Is Listed for $899!

100

I normally check out this site for other people for deals, such as the friend who resists updating their PC/Laptop, and this one just jumped out at me.

I know RRP isn't what most stores sell for anyway but at less than $900 I don't think even some of the other big box retailers would meet this. If someone finds this HP cheaper though, leave a comment, and I'll amend this listing.

I did order a laptop from these guys a few months back now and had no problems and that's why I also keep an eye on them for others.

Also, this is supposed to be the Laptop Deal of the Day but they currently have it listed that the special will expire on the 25 Jan, 2012. Which is 2 days from this posting. Error perhaps?

P.S. Anyone have $899 they want to lend me so I can grab this? ;)

It's a competitive price, especially with a 6770M (whiich rivals the Nvidia 555m), bluray, beats audio and an 2gen i7 quad core. Though it falls out on RAM (the standard for this laptop would be 8GB, but it is uypgradeable so its okay), screen resolution (graphics card is easily able to play current gen at 1080p @ MAX, but a FHD screen would sky rocket the price))and i don't care what anyone says, if you have a HP laptop you need a cooling pad (think dual 120mm fans).

I bought a similar setup actually a few days ago (Dell outlet) but with a 2.4ghz i7 and a 540m for $850. So this deal is comparable, just depends if you favour processing power over graphics. So yes this is a bargain so long as HP has upped its game and no longer over heats (like all 3 of my Dv series laptops).

    Outcomes of overheating include:
    -freezing
    -keyboard/mouse lockup
-considerably shortened life (but who keeps a laptop more then 3/4 years anyway)
    -LOUD FAN (most annoying)

    • Yeah the heat HP laptops generate can be astounding sometimes. Summer was always the real worry with lengthy use. The one I bought 4 years ago is going strong still, nothing amazing, but gets the job done. FHD would have made this an insta-buy for some but I use the TV via HDMI when I want 1080p ;)

The Dell sounds good too. Only I've personally had bad experiences with them. But that could have just been a bad batch though - and we all know bad batches can affect any manufacturer anyway.

Kept me wondering for a minute before I realized what it meant…. need to be more computer-minded

      • Haha yes i believe that is called a homonym. To clarify i meant the computer no longer being in a usable state until it is rebooted, not it reached sub zero temperatures.

        • +1

A homonym is a word that sounds the same but is spelled differently, like "there" and "their". A word that is exactly the same but has a different meaning in a different context is called "confusing". :)

        • I believe the word is homograph.

(OK, only because I looked it up.)

i bought this 6 months ago for $850. Fantastic. I love it. Havent had overheating problem

Make sure you have the bios up to date. That will ensure you wont get the overheating problem.

This is the only issue I have had with my dv6 which was fixed by updating the bios.

      • +1

The only thing a BIOS update will typically do is alter the fan speed profile for more aggressive (noisier) cooling, and the higher fan speeds don't always make up for the deterioration in cooling performance as things get dusty and the thermal interface deteriorates.

If that isn't the case with the dv6, I'd be curious what magic trick they performed.

        • There's plenty of things a BIOS update can do to bring down the temperature of a laptop. The user probably wouldn't agree with almost all of them, but that doesn't change the fact that they exist.

    Unfortunately it's a HP.

Isn't full HD 1080? What is it with 15" laptops and 1366x768???

    • +3

Yes, full HD is 1080, which this isn't.

However I think for most people 1366x768 is a comfortable dot pitch. Any higher and text is too small with standard settings and viewing distance.

      • FHD suit 17 well but I cant spot big diff between 1366x768 n FHD in 15" screen.

    • yeah that is what kills it…

I ended up buying an XPS 15 and upgraded to 1080p screen just cause it was easier to do and well…1080p

      • I was looking at xps in jb hifi. Somehow the display laptops look plasticy n easily scratched which put me off from ordering.

  • Pass this. I had a bad experience with HP. My laptop was overheated and all data was gone when the hdd was burned. Never touch HP again.

  • yeah not bad deal.. but i got the DV6-6024TX (4GB/DVD) $850 @ DSE back in August
